I might switch to heat map and try that even though I feel like I don't need it. Already find enough mines to use all the energy in 15-20 minutes. And that's with +100% mining power, so mines only take 1-2 shots depending on level.

It get's a lot easier once you get decent mining gear. I went straight for crafting mining gear on day 1 and just focusing mining, so I didn't really spend much fuel on harvesting or encounters. It helped rush to the top mining gear fast.

Depends on what you want or what stages you are at. Level 0 will get you stuff to make and upgrade boots/jetpack. Level 1 will help you start getting ore to make some lower drone mods to increase your mining returns on a run. Once you are looking to craft higher mining mods a mix of levels 2 and 3 are good. Level 2 gives you the most T4 ore and level 3 give the most T5.

The different tiers of land have different amounts of fuel fuel and resource sites. But you get different fuels from the different types of fuel sites. Any region and tier can produce any fuel if it has the right fuel site. Even without one type of fuel site it will be possible to convert one fuel into another fuel.
