Here're some points to think about:

1. This is going to provide a nice boost to revenue, which has to be split with land owners, because this will reduce the need for fuel at game start.
2. Give access to web2 native gamers to participate before game launch.
3. Engage the comunity and provide a more reliable statistic for the amount of interested people.
4. This maybe allows to increase the runway without having to expend tokens from the treasury.

When new and young people go into the space and see Illuvium as one of the heads of Web-3, take jabs at another project, then the newcomers might take a step back and take a closer look at the underlying promises of the project.
I think Illuvium has a relatively short and manageable timeframe. 1-3 years and you can expect something to be made and to start growing. I personally am happy that i chanced upon Illuvium because i was not prepared to hold out for 10 years and i would have stepped out of crypto by now.
Giving people ample warning before investing in a long-term project such as Star Atlas imo is a good thing. But i do understand your point. Doing so in a rude and ill-mannered way only breeds negativity and so an appropriate attitude should be taken. Criticism and warnings should be done in a way that invites newcomers to be sceptical of the project and scrutinise it.

There will also be a digital album for all Illuvitars and a digital Illuviary for all Illuvials.
Illuvitars will be printable on metal boards.
Whether they will create cards for all illuvials or illuvitars to give to people is not known. But it could be a cool feature and since it is a DAO, the community is able to initiate ideas and push them through if there is enough support.
You could bring it up again next year when the open beta comes out and illuvials are actually collectible.
