hm
- does your account own the game or was it a gift
- did your account ever buy any game on steam
- does your windows username have non latin characters
- do you use onedrive
- are you using a virus scanner thing thats blocks the game from creating the file
..and some other things i dont remember now
i own the game; yes i have 18 games or so; Nope it's "Vincent"; no i dont use ondrive; that could be it how do i disable the windows firewall form blocking stuff in Teardown though?
did you sign this? https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/workshoplegalagreement/?appid=0
bruh
also .. which version are you using?
main menu .. bottom right is a number
as experimental might give an error on update (different though) .. still being investigated
true i forgot that... actually sad becuase i played Tearown for well over 400hours😂
publish should work though.. in experimental..
I'm on 1.5.3
thats normal stable so should work
1.5.4 is experimental (with the update failure)
well.. "should work" as in .. if it's not something else making issues
i doesnt work I'm goign to just send you a video real quik maybe that helps?
same error?
yep
did you run steam as admin at some point?
is your account in good standing.. as in level 1+ .. no bans or whatever
no I didn't run it as admin an my acounts is over level 1 and no bans
usually this error pops up if the game cannot write the file (id.txt) into the mods folder
running it as admin didnt help
well.. you shouldn't :P
oh okay
it has a space in it is that bad?
no
or do you have other virus apps installed that might block teardown from writing?
no
hm.. then i don't know really..
Do you by chance know where obs saves video files?
thank you
yes
can you zip it and DM it to me .. i can try to publish and see if it's the files
yes totaly fine
i doubt thats the issue though
or just drop it in here
those germans and their rars ;D
xD
i was able to publish it.. but i used 1.5.4 as i didn't want to downgrade :P
don't upgrade..
lets try something else
close teardown
done
then go to your documents folder and rename the Teardown folder to TeardownOLD or something
the game will then create a new folder on next start
im gessing droping the stuff in teardownold into teardown?
not yet.. lets see if a clean folder works first..
okay
with the clean folder .. just create local global mod.. and publish it right away as private
okay
lets see if that works
no same error message
ok.. then it's something else
you can quit the game again and reverse what you did..
done
i'm out of ideas.. you could try the normal cleaning stuff like ..
- clear steam download cache (steam -> settings -> download -> clear cache)
- verify game files (steam -> game properties -> local files -> verify)
nothing worked
i got another idea... you said you could publish it. What if you send me the id.txt that was created when you published it and I'll put that in my folder and try to upload it... Do you think that would work?
i would have to add you as contributor.. and i would be the owner
oh
and you can't transfer ownership
ah okay
sadly
but technically that should work.. i guess.. if there is not something else preventing you
but as said.. it's usually the game not being able to write the file into the folder
maybe you have another pc where you can install the game and publish something?
no sadly i don't
or login at a friends place?
that could work... I'll see what i can do
let us know how it goes..
this is always a tricky error
the id.txt is literally just a text file with the workshop item id
@earnest condor Do you have any VAC bans on your account or other limits?
don't know what VAC ban means but I never got banned on steam in any kind of way
I use OneDrive.
The problem is solved.
