#Steam Deck Display setting missing in options menu

hello... so where can i set the resolution of the game in teardown ? There simply is no Display entry in the main menu... i just reinstalled teardown to be sure, but its still not there. Steam Deck user here.
Perhaps... if the ingame resolution is lower than the resolution set in steam itself, FSR may activate itself and you get a crisper screen then,
i am not sure whether lowering the render scale on its own will make steam recognize... "Hey, there is a lower ingame resolution than my set preference, lets activate steam deck's FSR to compensate it"
I have seen screenshots of a "mysterious" display section in the options menu, but for me it is not available for some reason.
I also tried to edit the options.xml under %appdata% \Local\Teardown, but it reset itself to its previous state,

#

and if that is now hardcoded for the steam deck (which would be no good way to be honest...) is there any other way to enable FSR for Teardown ? the idea is to have a lower resolution ingame than specified in steam, so steam / proton will enable FSR to scale the ingame resolution up. Atleast that is how I believe it may work... hmm

#

this is supposed to increase the resolution on external monitors, like to 1920x1080, but keep the ingame at like 1280x720, and let FSR handle the rest.

you could try using gamescope..

# radiant crescent hello... so where can i set the resolution of the game in teardown ? There simpl...

I don't have any experience with the steam deck sadly, but does the entire display section reset when you modify the values in options.xml? I don't think this will have any impact since it would make the most sense that the entire display section would reset.

<display>
    <mode value="1"/>
    <resolution value="2"/>
    <index value="0"/>
</display>

Another idea would be to somehow force it to use FSR, once more I must mention that I have no experience whatsoever with Steam decks and base all this of educated guesses shrug_animated

hmm i think the steam deck game mode already utilizes gamescope, there is als the FSR option. and let me try again, but i only edited the mode value from 0 to 1 before

#

and forcing FSR i think happens with setting the resolutions, unless i overlook something

#

hmm, the display section's mode, resolution and index values are being reset to 0 when i launch the game, or atleast the editor shows "file modified on disk" after closing the game

#

@wind harness i am not sure what causes this reset... is there perhaps something hard coded for the steam deck especially ?

#

or is there perhaps another "hidden" debug mode or something ?

#

btw, i launched Teardown this time from the steam deck's desktop mode aka KDE

ah ok, but good to talk with a developer nonetheless 🙂

#

for example, i tried with Medieval Dynasty... there i set the ingame resolution to 1280x720, the steam resolution to 1920x1080 and when i connect to an external monitor, FSR is active.

#

so my hope was to be able to repeat those steps in Teardown, lol... unfortunately setting down the render scale does only lower the internal 3D viewport resolution, but not everything... so steam may fail to detect this

maybe try disabling fsr mode and setting manual launch option with gamescope
gamescope -h 720 -H 1080 -F fsr %command%

ok, i give this a try

#

hmm unfortunately this doesnt work. Teardown seems to close itself directly after starting it (in steam decks game mode) and from desktop mode steam says teardown is running but there is no output window visible, it seems to hang

hmm

idk then sry
