#Screen Tearing, even if V-sync is set to adaptive

So, for some weird reason, that just started happening today (01/11/2023), I have some screen tearing. I checked the value of the V-sync in-game, which was "Every frame", so I changed it to "Adaptive", which worked at first. But after I played again, screen tearing started occurring again, but the previous frame was more than the half of the screen. I tried every setting of V-sync, no new result.

Specs:

  • GPU: NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU
  • CPU: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11400H @ 2.70GHz
  • Screen Info: 60Hz 1920x1080 pixel, zoom = 100% (no zoom)
  • Game's framerate: 59 - 60 fps (which is simplified as 60 fps)

oh I just closed task manager and this happened. Is it linked to my PC than is not even 1 year old that is dying?

No, probably not

#

I'd suggest updating

Update drivers and Windows and reboot
  1. For Nvidia Users:
You can update drivers via Geforce Experience or their driver page.
  2. For AMD Users:
You can check for updates using the AMD Radeon Settings or by navigating to their driver page.
  3. After updating drivers, search for "Windows Update" in the Start menu and install any available updates.
  4. Once updates are installed, restart your computer.

And does the screen tearing occur on the expierimental branch?

I just rebooted, installed an update and installed the latest graphic driver

And....?

flat cipher

I didn't test, I'll test

1 sec

Please do

flat cipher
#

yeah it does still occur

#

it hurts my eyes for some reason 💀

had the same issue after updating to the latest nvidia drivers, game was stuttery and suffering from screen tearing even with different v sync options enabled

#

playing the latest version of teardown, experimental branch disabled

flat cipher
#

Mhhhh. Same case for me that means

#

What is weird is that it goes after 2 mins

#

But when restarting the game it does that again

torn basalt
#

odd… it never goes away for me even in the menu, no matter how long I play

#

it’s honestly a bit disorienting

torn basalt
#

definitely isn’t an issue of specs either, I use a 4060 ti paired with a Ryzen 5 5600x and play in 1440p

flat cipher
#

yeah, I also did update my NVIDIA driver to the latest version like you did and we got pretty much the same problem

#

Hope they'll fix

potent spear
#

@flat cipher Have you tried to see if this occurs on the experimental branch?

flat cipher
#

I think @torn basalt is right, I said that he had the same issue after updating to the latest version of the driver for NIVDIA graphic cards, just like I did.

#

but what is weird is that it only occurs for 2 mins

#

then, if I go back to the main menu or simply stop the level and I start the same one or another one, it does the same thing.

You could try rolling back your graphics driver to the last version and see if that resolves it. If you want to try that feel free to say so and I can guide you through it in vc

flat cipher
#

yeah, I know how to :)
I'll see if that works

#

I'll do it later on and tell you if it did something

torn basalt
#

I should add that I reinstalled the latest driver again this morning and the tearing has either stopped or has been mitigated

#

game still randomly slows down to 29 fps during small intervals but not as common now
