#How to build a way of shadow monk?

In dnd 5e 2014, 2024 or some other system?
Well, I'd say start with who your character is, and what kind of aesthetic you like
I'm not quite familiar with 2024 optimization, but for 2014, gun-build shadow monk was considered the strongest build
That said, there's always arguments for, say, knife-throwing rogue/monk
2024
I kinda want an assasin type character like deathstroke. But I didnt really like the rogue assasin and i think a ninja character would fit more. For the opitimization gunk kinda fell out of favor and monks are better now. I did see one throwing build i didnt really like the feeling of it.
In 2024 two weapon fighting is pretty nice on a monk, though it requires a dip
A stellar option here is 1 level of ranger - it gives you the weapon mastery you're after, minor spellcasting and free casts of Hunter's Mark, which on Monk is not bad at all
You probably want to start with the Tavern Brawler feat (Sailor background if you have to use premade ones)
Go for dex first and foremost, wis second and make sure your con is at least 14
For more forced movement, if it synergises with your party, (or just more damage) you can go for the charger feat later
Either dual shortswords or use the old Dedicated Weapon feature on a Longsword
This all sounds pretty cool but im just wondering if being a way of shadows monk will change this build at all or if it just changes nothing.
Not particularly
if anything, it changes the builds of others to incentivise them having blindsight / devils sight
Potentially you might want to grab the Mobile feat, if it's available (since it wasn't reprinted) to run away with your darkness and not impact your allies with it
Mobile was reprinted but it was just renamed but other than that thanks for all your help.
