#i suck at getting in campains

Honestly, the hardest part is asking. Once when you get rid of the initial anxiety of talking to some one, it will just flow. I used to be pretty unsocial until I started my new job a couple of years ago. Now, starting a conversation or simply asking to join in on a campaign is easy.
Your already halfway there bye asking the the questions tab.
Thanks man but il stick with my original plan for a little longer but if it fails then il try to dm a dm if i can join but thanks really
sounds good! 👌
Hi @jagged wasp, welcome to the server!
There's just one important thing I want to mention in the hopes of motivating you!
Unfortunately, on this server and in general, there is much bigger demand for DMs than players because DMs are in short supply. Thus, this server specifically operates by DMs making game posts and players reaching out to them - because it's almost guaranteed that you'll have players due to the difference in the amount of players and DMs.
All of this to say that if you have any reason to hesitate other than your own uncomfortableness, you shouldn't! It's the way things work here! :)
That being said, it is by no means the only way to be in a game. If you aren't in a rush, you can always just chill out on the server, meet some people and make good friends. When someone is making a game, they tend to invite their friends first before posting for the rest of the players.
You can also decide to DM if you want to skip the wait, but there's no pressure! 😅
Well am screwed
I will say this: It's normal to feel overwhelmed about reaching out to people for anything. But f you want to find a table to play with, it will be impossible if you do not put that first foot forward. That goes for a lot of things, really.
I'll suggest what I always do: take the plunge and start your own campaign.
Guaranteed sure-fire way to play some D&D. Run a beginner module like Mines of Phandelver for a few sessions and boom! You now have an established group and quite likely a player willing to take a spin at DMing
I wouldn't recommend resigning yourself to that. I was shy as heck when I first started DMing. And that was near 20 years ago with a much more difficult edition of D&D, far less interest in the hobby, and even fewer available resources for new DM's.
It's one of those "If I managed to do it, I believe that everyone else can!"
But at the end of the day, you're very likely going to need to put yourself out there, one way or another, as a player or a DM. Opportunities rarely passively fall into one's lap
Thanks man i appreciate it but my friend is gonna make a campian in this server and am gonna be in it,hes never been in here but hes a great dm so i think il have fun but still thanks man
Aw sick! Congrats on finding a game
(I still encourage you to DM at least a one shot at some point, probably when you feel more comfortable with the system. It will make you a better player and you might just discover that you too are at heart, a Forever Dungeon Master
)
Naw i think il pass,i hate being a dm (no offense to dms) and i think am more of a player instead but who knows maybe in a few months il like being a dm
To each their own! Just think about it 🙂
Alright i will but it looks overwhelming on how much you actualy have to do as a dm
I won't lie to you: the DM is responsible for a lot. You are the lens through which the players experience the adventure, you are the referee for rules disputes, and you are the one responsible for managing and alleviating conflict within the group.
But you're also here to have fun too and running games is a very, very enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Give this a skim, it's older but it's one of the best guides out there and was immeasurably helpful to me when I was first getting started: https://forums.giantitp.com/showthread.php?76474-So-You-Wanna-Be-A-DM-A-Potentially-Helpful-Guide-(Reposted-and-Updated)
So, rather than skirt the thread necomancy line (the original post of this has fallen to Page 16, mostly as a result of my own neglect), I'm reposting the now complete (other than for suggestions an additions) guide. There are still some very good comments in the discussion on that thread which I didn't want to include in the main body of the es...
Thats kinda the thing theres so much and id rather just go in a campian and have fun insted of makeing maps, lore, enemies, characters and whatnot but huge respect for u dms who make good experinces for players.
