my mcu temp is stable at 56C, if that matters
i do not know of any log that would be relevant to my issue, do let me know if any might be required
the klipper log file would be of help.
lost connection error often are caused from a bad or poor quality usb cable.
this is my log
my cable is good but i know that the microusb port on my motherboard is loose. However it is left undisturbed and free of strain throughout the print, and I am able to reconnect to the mcu without needing to reseat the cable
well thats most likly the cause then... your printer has moving parts and the vibration during the print can make the port loose contact for a short time. klipper sents a lot of traffic over the bus and has really small timing windows. just the slightest outage of the connection will cause it to stop.
i have confirmed that it is not my cable nor port, by changing from my creality 4.2.2 to a new SKR PICO and connecting over the usb C port. This issue still occurs, I have tested it on both of the pi's USB 3.0 ports
this is my klippy log from today's disconnect error
fresh install of mainsail, still got the same issue at around 1 hr into a print. any ideas @modern vector ?
sorry got not really time to look into it.
at this point we have ruled out:
- loose usb port
- bad usb cable
- bad mcu
- bad os configuration
- usb current draw (i am blocking the usb 5v line)
I try to look into it later. Iam quite busy right now.
alright, thanks
i'll try running over uart tomorrow to see if i can single out usb driver/chip issues
can't tell why the mcu disconnects. the syslog shows that the mcu disconnects and comes back 2 minutes later. did you do something during that time?
nope, i leave it printing and just let it do its thing
i dont touch the printer, web interface or anything near it, but around the 1hr mark the mcu disconnects
when i see that it has disconnected on the web interface, i press the "firmware restart" button and the mcu reconnects without any other intervention on my part
i've figured out the issue, my printer power supply was cutting power due to over temp shutdown
