#Trying to add the ADXL345 accelerometer through a Pi Pico results in my printer freezing

So I followed the Klipper instructions on taking measurements with an ADXL345 accelerometer using a Pi pico hooked up the the raspberry pi via USB. Above is an image from printer.cfg that shows my attempt at following said instructions. Unfortunately, adding this block of text to the printer.cfg results in my printer being stuck on the boot screen. Mainsail just says "the klippy host software is attempting to reconnect" permamently, and it never ceases. I thought I followed all the instructions. What is going on?
Tried to redo it, connecting the accerometer to the Raspberry Pi itself this time. Followed the Klipper instructions to the letter, setting up the Raspberry Pi as an MCU. Printer is still nonfunctional and I still get an error that I can't connect to the additional MCU.
