Please fix your tags #readme
So what exactly is your problem right now? You cannot flash klipper to your printer? Or your config isn't working? Moonraker making problems? Mainsail not working at all? MainsailOS won't install?
I can't get any UI to work, i had Octoprint working for like a half day, and now I can't get back on at all.
because I was the closest with getting Octoprint done, ive been trying that all day, i flashed mainsail twise and tried but It wasn't working at all, i got my local ip UI for octoprint to open for about two minutes today that was it
So your problem right now is to get an UI to work right? What UI do you want to use? And how do you install them atm?
Also please still fix your tags #readme
i would use any UI honestly, im using the raspi imager and the most up tp date on there seems to be octoprint, im not sure if why the mainsail images are from 2022. i was even having trouble getting the supplicant wifi config to work on the mainsail image so I just kept trying octo because it was actially connecting and I could SSH it
2023
Just configure the wlan bottom right under sthe settings
And you should know that MainsailOS and Mainsail are two different things
Please fix your tags #readme (delete all tags except MainsailOS)
okay so thats my first question. I am on an open network so I always just waited to flash the image then change the suppliocant instead of using the gear icon
But why do you use the supplicant config instead of the gear icon option? Does the password change randomly?
there isnt a password
Why exactly do you use a public network? Just asking, as you might have to choose another webgui to get a password protected site
That no one will burn down your printer
i dont have a choice lets just put it that way
Ok
i have no idea how to change the tags im like brand new to discord
Then just flash MainsailOS and after that follow: https://docs-os.mainsail.xyz/faq/change-wifi-credentials#raspberry-pi-os-based-mainsailos
i understand theres a risk to going open, but there are supplicant files that have the open network and octo had it, and it worked
MainsailOS can take some time for the first installation, depending on the sdcard size 5-20mins
Those should work for every other distro too
Those OSes are all based on the same image afaik
So just do the same as for the octoprint one.
I personally recommend the MainsailOS image, as we are on the Mainsail Discord. For setting up Octoprint UI, I recommend going to their Discord, as they are more familiar with their image
I get it, I didn't intend to be asking about Octoprint here I apologize
No problem 😄
Just wanted to let you know, that they might be more helpful with their image
Cheers, just took some perseverance. I think it might be good advice for people having trouble with spotty SSH during initial install to actually begin with just the raspi pi lite with desktop interface and run all your commands from the terminal there through Kiauh until everything is installed and up to date. After that I made up an SD card with the proper commands at the beginning for MainsailOS and it worked first try. Of course I’m dealing with a few other errors now, at least I’m in and have and able to work on my config file. No video ever suggested doing it that way but my god I swear that just made it 10x less painful.
After that it kind of all started making a bit more sense and I was able to install every other UI on my actual Mac air through terminal. It was a good day.
Commands are a little different as it was homebrew at first, but it’s slowly coming along.
Every human learns different. For me it didn't make any difference between terminal on desktop or directly ssh, while I was learning all this.
Also setting up a different OS, installing there everything and then coming back to MainsailOS doesn't make that much sense, as MainsailOS just something like kiauh prerunned, with some additional tweaks/fixes.
So nice that you made it 😄
If you don't have any further questions, please close this post
I had never used any of them and after spending as much time as I did just installing Klipper and getting to this point, I figured it like to give all the UI’s a chance, and in different settings. Like i think some will be much more enjoyable to work with on a good size desktop screen than anything else. I had always planned on having something like that set up on one of them instead of using the printer screen at all . Definitely overkill but I’m really liking the fact that this is bringing some dust collecting things back to life. I guess I’ll find out which UI like best that way. I also want to keep my pi’s with just 1 instance on them as it just seems like less of a possible hassle to me. Whereas I think the laptop will be easier to have a few instances set up on.
