Me, (and I'm sure the entire server), find it very frustrating when a hunter immediately leaves after death, or for any other reason that's not valid. its frustrating. I propose some sort of punishment system for this.
Now, the logic behind this will need a lot more thinking than this, as you obviously don't want to outright ban these players, as it would kill the game mode/server.
From initial thoughts, it should probably go something like:
- Hunter leaves manhunt
- Was hunter killed within the last couple minutes before leaving? If yes, penalty received.
- Did the hunter leave and then requeue within 10 minutes? If yes, penalty received.
- Did the hunter leave via /leave or by quitting to menu and rejoining the server? If they dont re-join the game before it ends, then penalty received
- Did the hunter leave via connection-timeout? No penalty, or a softer warning that may scale if it keeps happening within a timeframe.
Then, the potential logic behind that:
- First penalty should have no punishment, in case it was a fluke. Warning given before their next game.
- On second and third penalty, the hunter should have the runner option locked for their next game, so they can only choose hunter. This is then removed when the hunter completes a manhunt, in any way. (/forfeit from the hunter doesn't count, and the player must not be afk), otherwise, they must wait a day for the softlock to clear.
- the time would then scale up if they continue to do this.
- On fourth+ penalty, hunter should be banned from solo queue on manhunt, for like maybe 15 minutes to an hour.
- then the time/punishment scales up, if they keep receiving these temp bans
The penalties should decay after some time.
The hunters should only be able to rejoin the game they left, no re-queuing. They can re-queue (with their penalty) after the game ends or a new hunter is appointed.
I believe this would improve the server experience when playing manhunt, for all players. thanks 😃
