I've been running into the same issue for a minute now and it's frustrating and I feel that no one can relate. I'm just starting out writing, theres so much inspiration and ideas that I've come across but I can't write at the caliber I aim to. Every song I write or every verse I jot I'm unhappy with. I just don't know what to do. I want to be amazing at this more than anything but it's frustrating. I'm so inspired by rappers like Kendrick, J Cole, Kanye, JID, Ben Reilly, MF DOOM, 2Pac, JayZ, ect. but I can't perform at that level and I feel I'm going about this all wrong. I understand this takes patience but I just need some guidance on all of this. I want to excel and become the artist I aim to be. Someone please help me out a little. Shoot me a DM or something I just want someone to point me in the right direction.

yoo if u still need help with this, here's my take:
I'm a rapper too, currently converted from the style ur aiming for, to the older hard soundcloud era type style (temporarily so i can gain traction). U ARE going about this all wrong. "I can't perform at that level", they each have over a decade of experience in writing, and ur probably nowhere near that (I'm assuming).
The guidance I can give you is to have patience, but u said u understand that so I'm teaching u nothing new really. One tip other than patience tho is to work and practice harder than u are right now.
Something that has helped me write better, is carrying a little notebook everywhere I go - either on ur phone, or a physical book (physical books seem better for some logical reason we don't know - as far as I know)
