i would make the shirt lighter i think, at least lighter than the corset since there will still be a darker strip of the cloth over the skirt (idk what to call that?) and it'll be a nice like. reflection ig of the skirt, since the skirt is that darker colour, the mid tone, then the lightest, with a thin strip of the darker between the mid tone and the lightest

my process is weird but i personally make my ocs by 1) drawing a design first and deciding their personality based on appearance or 2) thinking of personality traits i want them to have
Generally i like to create characters that have some Character traits im drawn to, for example i think people who do stupid thigs and get into stupid situations is really funny so i make a guy who say gets arrested for breaking into a movie rental store and make a design from there. if you struggle getting down a visual design i like to do diff picrews to give myself something to work off of like i might want the character to have brown hair but im not sure what style? look at picrews get some inspo and extrapolate from that
sorry if this is nonsense, just my general process lol... otherwise its just throw things at a wall until it sticks lol

For me, I take inspiration off of already-existing characters from different media.
For example, I made an OC inspired by Harley Quinn. He was kind of like a genderbend of her at first, and then I started projecting onto him more and more, so it helped turn him into an individual character who had a similar style & appearance to Harley rather than making him be the exact same character as her
I don’t have a single character who isn’t essentially an already-existing popular media character in terms of appearance. It’s kind of annoying lol but it’s just how I make my OC’s

Tbh I wish I could tell you. I do know that sometimes oil pastels just decide they aren't going to layer anymore. Mine for some reason always come out muddy and I STILL haven't figured out why cause I wasn't doing anything wrong? Just a fussy medium in my experience.

tbf, it will likely be a bit stiff no matter what unless it's a super dynamic pose that is being done on purpose (i have references) or the character is moving, (likely read: falling)
since this character is using a mobility aid, and i know from experience that while mobility do help with.. well mobility of course, they can also limit the sort of physical movements a person does in general, especially compared to someone who doesn't use/need mobility aids

Chat I have a question for artfight,,,,, what is considered an anthro? Because I've seen it described as a human and another thing (usually an animal) combined, but I really only see pictures of furries (/neu/nm) being described as anthro. Would a human character with like a fish tail and fish ears and gills count as anthro as well???

Anthropomorphic animals aka furries, anthro just means an animal with human traits (or sometimes the opposite where it's a human with animal traits which is a whole other can of worms) which can be assorted into literally ANY category. Even anime cat girls could technically be counted as a furry if they have cat and human behaviors though those usually are given a different name so people aren't confused the overall pool of "what is athro" is pretty dang big. It sort of just depends on who you ask.

around the light brown you have a gap between the dark brown, its not consistent with the ears i think maybe if you added the gap for the ears it would feel more consistent ? im not much of a ,,, logo designer though so i dunno if thats solid advice lol

Looks mostly fine but the font placement needs adjusted, it looks odd and inconsistent with the angle of the cup (which can work in some circumstances if you left it unangled entirely but since it is angled it looks odd)

i don’t know if the color comment was asking for a tip but the colors itself should depends on your background, usually you can use different filters above it like for example you can use overlay with a dark purple and tone it down :) another good tip with lighting depending on what you use i go with a very dark purple and here’s this is what i did on an invincible one

i will use another layer to copy whatever my base is, and us multiply and try and cut what places light may be coming from :) you don’t have to always circulate colors to the color palate like skin but it’s useful to know what the colors are as a hole, bright can be good but dying it down can be good for shading and other filters . i haven’t done digital in awhile but that’s my personal opinion like black as a shade can be fine but doesn’t help much with bringing colors out , i suggest watching tutorials as well with eveurthing too :)) sorry for any spelling mistakes my phone has been autocorrecting stupid things

so this isn’t a bad tutorial at all it’s just understanding colors and how they work together , it’s the main fundamental part of understanding it but shading and detailing is what making a piece look like that with other things i don’t know how to explain :) but looking at others work too on just random social media, and just in general random tutorials can help with a bigger understanding of it

art is so overly complicated but it’s the little things you will see across the internet that will help you along you journey, but that tutorial is extremely useful , a lot of the times the tools you use on a app can help you a lot when you mesh things together like having a blur tool then maybe having a sharp one later on for a simple example
