#Sonos Player Not Showing Up
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Did you add Sonos as a provider?
I knew it was something simple 🙂
It's a confusing UI I suppose for a first time user
Anyway thanks, once a provider was added it showed my devices automatically
If HA can detect media players can MA do the same and suggest the user to install the necessary providers? (or just auto install them)
Yes, the MA folks have talked about how it’s a bit confusing so you aren’t the only one haha. Not sure if a change will be made there
Good question, might be a good feature request:
“MA has noticed x, y, and z speakers on your network. Would you like to add those providers?” Or something along those lines
I have an unrelated Q, how do I play to multi providers? like sonos and web?
Are you on the main MA version? I think it’s 2.7
Yes
But I think 2.8 will be out before long
There’s something called a Sendspin bridge that lets you group Sonos/web/some other protocols
If the next release will do it that works for me 🙂
For example, I can play synced music to Sonos, HomePods, web browser, and some ESP32 devices running Sendspin firmware
Cool
Keep an eye out!
March 25th 😉
I'm trying to figure this out. In order to get multi room audio sync across platforms they need to be sendspin bridge compatible?
Is Sonos not supported yet?
Explain some more about what you are trying to do as Sonos is absolutely supported natively. Sendspin bridges are just alayer on top
trying to play on sonos and on native browser lets say at the same time
Am I missing something?
So you should have the MA Sonos provider installed and when playing to that just go to the player list and sync to the phone.
what do you mean by "sync to the phone"?
What is "it"
sonos and web
What version of MA are you running?

Do your Sonos speakers not support AirPlay?
Then you might be out of luck. Let me check about whether a Sonos - Sendspin bridge is possible
TY!
Isn't airplay an input, why is music assistant showing up in players?
What do you mean by "why is music assistant showing up in players?"
I was just looking at the pictures and wondering what the music assistant player is meant for
Ah. That is me testing our AirPlay receiver plugin
Also it is not possible to bridge to Sonos only devices as it is closed source.
You have an option to buy a cheap Sonos anything that supports AirPlay and then that will bridge to the other Sonos players
What type of device would that be?
I'm not sure as I only has a Sonos device for testing. Check your local second hand sellers and see if you can pick somethign up cheap just make sure it supports AirPlay
No because all the Sonos can sync together. So they are synced and then MA is sync'ed to the one with AirPlay and now that can be synced to anything that is AirPlay (and as of 2.8 anything that is connected via Sendspin - because of the new bridge). https://www.music-assistant.io/player-support/sonos/#airplay-functionality
So something like apple airport express airplay 2?
No it needs to be a Sonos device that supports AirPlay (assuming you are trying to sync your Sonos devices to the browser - your original question). But yes if you werent fussed about your old Sonos devices then any AirPlay device can be added to MA
Got it
So essentially just one airplay supported device can make the whole system work with sendspin
In terms of Sonos, yes. The concept is MA now has what are called bridges from Sendspin to AirPlay and Sendspin to Cast. So it can use those connections. Here is a diagram I am working on to show it
