#Multiple providers best practices

I can not find a direct answer in documentation for my use case. If there please forgive me and show me a link -please.
If I want local / remote file share to be by first choice in creating playlist (search for tracks and add to playlist) but also want full access to whatever music I may want what is best practice?

I have local / remote folder (either / or) provider
I have App,le Music provider
I have Spotify provider
I have YouTube Music Provider
I have various radio, audiobook etc providers.

Question:

  1. If I add Plex as a provider in order to use Plex Connect and it has the exact same music and folder structure (it is the same set of folders) Will that cause duplicates in libraries and create issues with saved Music Assistant libraries if I remove Plex at some point?
  2. Should I stick with either local / remote provider or Plex for provider (if I want plex Connect)?

My goal is to use only local music for Music Assistant playlists and then have provider playlists for content not in my local folders / Plex. So If I remove any cloud providers my Music Assistant playlists are still intact and valid.

Try to avoid Plex if you want multi provider matching to work properly. Plex simply doesnt provide enough metadata to do this right.

But I think you miss an important point of MA here... You can simply import a playlist from a streaming provider and if you also have a match locally it will use the local counterpart

Ok, I will hold off then. Hopefully metadata gets fixed or someone adds Plex Connect to HA

Plex connect is for Plex

You just need some other client in this case or use plex in MA and accept it will not perfectly fit what you want
