I have 3 LG TVs each discovered by MA as AirPlay. None of them respond to playing an item.
I know they work because I can connect directly from my laptop and phone - albeit as AirPlay mirroring.
But I’d expect some sort of pairing on first connect to enter a PIN but nothing.
Any ideas?

Did you go into the player settings of those LGs to start the pairing process? Airplay players that need pairing will initially show up with an hourglass icon, then once you have completed the pairing process you can start playing music to it

I only see that as a possibility on Apple TVs, not on a player tv that is AirPlay. I have the same issue.

I just started getting this today but I for the life of me can not figure out where to put it.

Just had a look and it seems that LG tv's are airplay2 only devices (no raop / airplay 1). I think they require some kind of pairing, as I indeed get the passcode screen when I play music to it. However, pairing is not implemented yet for airplay 2 so we need to wait until that has been implemented.

Looks like I'm in the same boat with @trail drift. Is there by chance a bug report on "airplay 2 pairing" I can follow?

I just found the following bug report submitted yesterday. Looks like someone is working on adding pin authentication for airplay 2 pairing. Is that you @wintry sundial? https://github.com/music-assistant/support/issues/4703
