#Tracks from Apple Music Very Slow to Load

You haven’t explained what you did for this to occur
Sorry. Updated to the latest MA.
It took a long time but they finally showed up.
Tracks from Apple Music Very Slow to Load
It seems that MA is having trouble loading tracks from Apple Music.
Can you be more specific what "having trouble" means exactly ?
I have a playlist that plays when someone hits the dinner time button in HA. The playlist has a lot of tracks from Apple Music.
Since the update, the playlist hasn’t played via the automation. When I look at the playlist directly, it takes several minutes to load.
But searching in MA is fine.
Isnt that true only for the very first time you click/play it ?
After that it should be in the cache - if not, there is a bug in the apple provider
It happens every time I load the playlist.
@lucid heart
I checked the code and it should cache the playlist tracks for 3 hours.
So if you refresh the page it takes a long time before the tracks are loaded ?
How long ? and how many tracks (give or take) in that playlist ?
I’ll check later. Out Christmas shopping.
So if you refresh the page it takes a long time before the tracks are loaded ?
Yes
How long ?
1 minute
How many tracks (give or take) in that playlist ?
101
Then something is wrong. I would create an issue report on github with a full log included then. I have playlists with 1000s of tracks loading in a few seconds here, but I dont have Apple Music in use.
I have apple music playlists also loading in seconds here. Can you take a screen capture so we know exactly what you are talking about?
I am also experiencing issues with Apple Music after upgrading to 2.7.2.
Specifically, all Apple Music tracks are missing from my "All favorited tracks" playlist. These were tracks that I manually favorited by clicking the "favorite" (heart) button in the player interface previously.
After the update completed, all of these Apple Music tracks disappeared from the list.
Unlike the OP (Eric), mine haven't appeared even after waiting.
Where do I pull MA logs?
edit: Found it....would be nice to mention logs in the settings page.
Don't know if this would help. I have an Apple Music playlist that works perfect. The playlist that takes a long time to load is a MA playlist full of Apple Music tracks.
Turned in a GitHub report.
I am seeing this delay, even with regular radio or playlists. it take several (5+ seconds) to move to a new track with Apple music
That's a different issue. +- 5sec is expected, as Apple Music is an unofficial implementation, so we just cannot give you the instant experience the apple music native app does when playing a track
I think this is a key insight. Can you elaborate how you created the playlist and added tracks to it? Just double checking, this is a not a playlist that was created in Apple Music and synced to MA? I can reproduce this when I created a Music Assistant playlist and add a bunch of Apple music tracks. Smells like a missing cache issue, the long loading time should only be required once
Actually, I only get the long loading time the first time around, which is kind of expected. Are you sure you have to wait a long time again when you refresh the page?
Yes. I’ll drop a video later today that show what I’m experiencing.
@lucid heart a symptom or affect of the delay, for me is if I skip 3 songs I end up with some sort of odd mix of 3 songs playing ~3 seconds of each song. its as if its caching the first few seconds of each song that was skipped, and it keeps replaying. I can easily replicate this by playing an artist radio, and skipping 3-4 songs. you have to stop the player as it gets stuck in a cache loop. If there is something I can collected to help with this pls let me know.
you can clear this by stopping the music, skipping a track and playing again

Here's what I'm seeing.
Are you on the latest version? This should already be fixed
Thanks for the great video. Issue is loud and clear. Will fix this one
@lucid heart I am on the latest GA release 2.7.2 as addon in HA. Please do let me know if you want me to test on a nightly as I can install that seperately.
@lucid heart anything else you need for me on the audio looping problem?
Please stop pinging people. It's the holidays, we will get around to this in time
Can you explain in detail how you get into this state so I can reproduce it? From what I understand you use Apple Music + Airplay + 'spam' next to skip a few tracks?
@nova shoal I found the issue. Replied in the GH issue, let's take the conversation there.
Saw the reply. I’ll check it out later today.
Hi @lucid heart I have found how to replicate. Apple music, Airplay to homepod (V1 or V2 Protocol has same issue), and skip a track quickly before it starts playing. what I think happens is that is buffers the first track and that buffer is not cleared before the second track starts playing. I have a video on what I did to replicate. The playlist used was an apple artist list not curated, but I can replicate the issue with any type of playlist or Radio on Apple music. I don't have other services I can try unfortuately.

let me know if you want me to open a github issue. thanks!
Anybody know how to figure out which tracks are missing from a playlist?
