#High IO usage self hosted

Hello! We recently moved off of vercel to self hosted but noticed we hit IO throughput issues before RAM and CPU issues. This is across many servers in our prod environment. Is the cause of this being ISR and various caching? Is the solution to just use something like redis for global caching?

Yes, nextjs uses a local folder called .next for doing quite a lot of its tasks

#

including as you mentioned.. caching

#

also nextjs image caching uses .next/cache/images so you can make your own image solution

#

make more files ssg over isr

#

use redis

#

etc

nope, custom image loader means its being handled by you and nextjs wont use .next
