I dont think that relates to what the OP is asking
Google indexing works in mysterious ways. You can only put up a request to index again but it can take upto a week or sometimes less.
Also you need to be following some general guidelines of favicon and your icon must be accessible by the bots.
That's a new insight to me😄
I have tried both, but still not working
Are there any other reasons this is happening

And as per next 14 I have given an icon.png in app directory in the code

I see the Vercel icon on the Google indexing. Is that icon still there in your build by any chance
If yes, remove that from the public folder and then try building it. Maybe it should fix it
@torpid walrus I also dont know where the vercel icon is coming from, I removed it from my project a month ago
