You know how on MacOS there's an Amnezia VPN icon on the top bar appearing when it's active? It would be very useful to have the same thing, but with some adjustments:
-Icon changes depending on the protocol that is being used (OpenVPN, Wireguard, VLESS etc.);
-If possible, show the config user is currently using on hover;
-Connecting and disconnecting on click

the thing is that it would need to work with every VPN and detect those, which would probably be A LOT of work
Windows has a universal system for VPNs which some/most do use, but a lot of VPNs also have kill switches allowing them to only be disabled from inside the app
Though assuming the vpn uses the native system I guess you could display it onto the network icon which would be neat

It may require some configuring. I think you can just switch between the network adapters used by the system without disconnecting through the priority settings. This way you don't even have to turn your vpn off
Ye but most have killswitches and switching between adapters just won’t give you internet
Well it must be configurable somehow
I’m sure it is, but considering there’s over 60 different mainstream vpn services creating a system that can detect for and toggle every single one independently, have fun
That would cost way too much effort just to have a button that toggles a vpn on the toolbar
