Yus
I just said, that I didn't care about HP before playing HL. So there are things that actually brought me to HP which HP itself wasn't able to do.
Nah thats valid, but that doesnt make it a good game, does it?
It's not that the game is completely better than HP, but at some point is.
Some parts of the game are amazing (in theory)
Unfortunately, it gets overshadowed by all the gobshite thats the rest of the game š¤£
Good, we found some agreement
You literally tried to argue for a good hour that I'm a hater because I criticised HL's inconsistency with Ominis being rich even so I said that it makes very little sense for him to be when in canon, his family had been poor for ages
Or maybe not...
Hey I didnt put 80h cause I despise the game
But most of my willingness to put up with the bad was because I love HP / the WW
And I said, I wouldn't mind a slight change, because HP has so many plot holes already
You are a hater
No u
Nuh uh, Im an angel, a gem even
Buggs Bunny where are the catgirls at?
I WOULDNT KNOW
Yes you would
And Ominis is example of very well written character. So that...
You own the bunker
"Very well written character"
He's not by the merit of video game standards. Passable but God tier writing? Heck no
Mind if I ask what other games youve played?
He has depth and good character development for character from HP world.
Ok, enough. I need to sleep. Good night.
He absolutely does not have depth considering his character is just his backstory and his character development is minimal. He just serves as a reminder that Dark Arts = Bad.
Heh... many. I don't remember everything. But I'm not judging his character according to other games, but to characters from HP world.
I wouldn't call a character who only serves as a foil to another as a well written character if they only serve one narrative purpose
Comparatively to the rest of HL, ominis was written well, sure
But thays because no character has any actual lersonality
Byefi
Lersonality
SHUT UP IM ON MY PHONE

I hope your raid fails
We doing good
No youre not

My favorite game character is Garrett. But the one from old thief trilogy š¤·š»āāļø
Btw...
I was born in the year that character was revealed so I have no idea who dat
But according to him, all HP characters have worse character arcs than HL characters do

The MC has such a sick story that I dont even remember it
HP = Chosen One Power Fantasy 0/10
HL = Chosen One Power Fantasy 10/10
I'm done here. Bye. This is pointless. You misinterprets everything I say š¤¦š»āāļø
Isnt that what you said before š¤£
Goodniiight
I mean only if you decide ur MC learns them and uses them. And its a war and they are a target, and its not like the Trace is perfect anyway and I doubt your friends who accompany you like Poppy and Natsai and Seb will rat you out since they are all willing to commit murder to achieve their own goals when it comes to the poachers and curing ann and Ominis is also reluctant to turn Seb in when it comes to him killing his uncle with the AK curse. Ultimately is it a case of the devs just wanting the player to have freedom to play as they wished
Still though doesn't make it canon compliant or "should be canon" like the other guy was insinuating.
It was a case of saying Harry and Co are just privileged kids with plot armour and Mary Suism but HL MC beats them all in that department
Breaking a few school rules is tame compared to being a 15 year old mass murderer
Game was meant to be canon compliant. The devs said its story is not be considered canon but they tried to stay in canon as much as they could without compromising the story they sought to tell and player freedom of playstyle but put canon to side when it came to the UCs so players could just have fun if they wanted to with them
Whether the MC has those curses or not or used em is not gonna have any definite anwer when it comes to HL continuity regardless
Does MC kill their foes, dialogue indicates it yes. But its also self-defense and its a conflict and they are a known target of goblins, poachers and dark wizards/witches. Its not implausible, the teachers of Hogwarts and everyone opposed to Ranrock and co around the Highlands will let their deaths at MCs hands slide due to the circumstances. Its also the 1890s were morals and attitudes were different to the 1990s.
Fair I'd rather they say that than well accepting it as canon. The UCs are still illegal in 1890 and only made temporarily legal during Voldemort's era iirc
Due to being warring times
Pretty sure every extra piece of medium in every franchise is said to be cannon at one point then is said to be not cannon when they feel like it not being cannon
You said it nicely. Thank you. š
Death of the author
I mean one can have their head canon but that won't change the official canon.
And the devs have literally said HLs story is not canon
Currently listening to The Prisoner of Azkaban and was wondering what your thoughts were. Was Ron justified in his anger against Hermoine involving the assumed death of his rat Scabbers? So far, to me. Itās seems hermoine canāt accept that her cat (assumedly) killed Scabbers. Of course we all know what actually happened and all that but what are your thoughts? Justified? Overreacting? Just a random thought I had lol
Honestly, justified. Only pet he had and since his family is so poor, only pet hes gonna get for a while.
justified, a pet that's been around for 12 years is family!
-# even if said pet turns out to be a dark wizard
Done deleted
Over through out harry potter series i don't understand Aunt putinya wether she is silently supporting harry or hating him
Wait hold on, @fringe grove is this your first time going through the series?? I'm a bit thrown off by your comment of 'so far', but also 'we all know what really happened'
She is so confusing
Reading/Listening for the first time technically but Iāve seen the movies and Iāve read various stuff outside the books online. Having only recently obtained the books Iāve finally had the chance to read m/listen to them properly
Ahh.
Currently on the fourth book. So far so good. Lots of changes from the books and movies that I now wish had been in the movies lol
LITERALLY
Peeves my beloved
interesting
Itās unfortunate how we didnāt get to see the interaction between the Dursleys and the Weasley when they went to pick him up. wouldāve been hilarious
I remember when I read the books for the first time. It was during the pandemic and I had to be quarantined in my village house where there was no wifi. My cousin always had the books so I binged them all in one week.
The books are my favorite thing to read i first read them when i was in 4th grade i wasnt able to stop reading them over and over again since then
Sounds like happy memories. I like reading those
I wish we had more info on the Wizarding school in the states. Imagine Draco but with just a heavy southern accent
In my headcanon, there are at least two wizarding schools in the United States.
Fair. I know thereās one in like Massachusetts? Which is like a completely random place to me lol.
Also in my head canon, American students learn Avada Kadavra like itās nothing, which is why we donāt know of any exchange students from the u.s (Malfoy wouldāve been gone by the third week)
Ilvermorny, on Mount Greylock.
lollll. Maybe the older students could learn Avada Kedavra. Like how 12-year-olds can't get a gun license.
There should be plenty since smallers schools of magic also existed outside the big named ones
There's too many wizards/witches for the big main magic schools to take at once so smaller ones existed of kids were just home schooled
Elval mory is another school no one knows
I really hope the sequel continues from hogwarts legacy one and itās not during Harry potters era
me too
me too! so much more to know abt the characters we met in hogwarts legacy. so much potential w our characterā¦
I hope I don't have to remake my RoR .... I hope I can carry it forward some how .... I worked so hard
itd be cool if you can carry on your progress if u played the first game
I don't think it'll go to harry's era when it comes to making games in a highly successful franchise on big screen film they tend to separate it to make a different story might borderline it but that might just be the extent of it since Legacy takes place roughly 48 years before Tom Riddle attends Hogwarts so some potential to input some secret history about hogwarts there but thats just my opinion
they have laid the foundations of a good rpg so far so I hope they stick with a continuation of protaganist and story
is there any information on how Ominisā wand works? itās evident it helps guide him due to his blindness, but how?
I guess it's something like echolocation... using some magical waves š¤·š»āāļø
It's not described specifically š¤·š»āāļø
itās magic
Anyway... it apparently cannot reveal much details, since he still recognizes people only by their voices š¤·š»āāļø
But I guess it allows him to read somehow... some reading spell? Who knows...
maybe they make audiobooks of the textbooks for him!
good olā audible helping out our friend ominis
Or he has a spell that is turning text into "hand readable" thing... you know, like the books for blind people...
It would be nice detail to see him reading by his hands or with his wand
you mean brail?
idk if brail existed in the 1890s
but maybe!
Braille is named after its creator, Louis Braille, a Frenchman who lost his sight as a result of a childhood accident. In 1824, at the age of fifteen, he developed the braille code based on the French alphabet as an improvement on night writing. He published his system, which subsequently included musical notation, in 1829. The second revision, published in 1837, was the first binary form of writing developed in the modern era.
Well, the point is still the same... it was developed before 1890 š¤¦š»āāļø
ahhh right okay so it did exist
is his patronus a dolphin
how Ominis knows Sebastian is approaching:
I think his patronus (if he would be able to cast it) would be raven. His name was inspired by poem Raven
Dark art users and Gaunts overall are not able to use patronus. The last Gaunt who tried to cast it was eaten by maggots... but if there is a Gaunt who should be able to cast it, it's definitely Ominis. It would be beautiful moment to witness...
well
thatās.. disturbing
interesting, but disturbing š
why canāt Dark Art users cast a patronus? iām assuming the Gaunts canāt because of their well known, and lengthy, history of being sociopathic Dark Arts practitioners.
Well, it requires pure heart and dark art users are said to not have one. Severus Snape is exception, because of his love for Lilly. If I recall well š¤
But Ominis is such a pure-hearted being, that it would be really sad for him not to be able to cast patronus.
Am I wrong???
No, you are right. š
You? Always š¤£
Is that so? In that case, youāre very intelligent and kind. You are also a good human being. You have definitely made your parents proud of you. š ā¤ļø
Ok, that was a good one š
Not strictly true. Iām listening to the Wizarding Archives audiobook right now and JKR said itās not impossible for a Dark Arts user to create a patronus, just unlikely. Snape was an example, and to a lesser extent Umbridge. She said the reason was that a Dark Arts user would find the patronus to be unnecessary, but that being a Dark Arts user and a patronus caster werenāt mutually exclusive.
Well... isn't it just Rowling trying to fix her plot holes? šš«¢
You need strong happy memory... not many dark wizards has one
Snape do, Umbridge... well she loves her cats š
And there was a dark art user who was eaten by maggots after casting patronus...
Who says dark arts user donāt have strong happy memories?
As for plot holes, maybe? But these archives are from her notes when writing the books so not likely. But hey, youāre free to think what you will.
they can of course, but itās rare⦠why was one eaten by maggots then?
Sorry for that, but as much as I love her writing style I kind of doubt her these days⦠she keeps ruining her own story š¤¦āāļø
but hey, death eaters really didnāt need to use patronus thatās true, since they had dementors on their side š¤·š»āāļø
still itās rare for dark arts user to use patronus
Draco couldn't cast patronus either...
Not sure, not familiar with that story. Donāt disagree that itās rare, just disagree when people say itās impossible. Draco is irrelevant to the discussion, since like most dark arts users he couldnāt create one. And nothing wrong with JKR.
well, I didnāt say itās impossible either. Why is Draco irrelevant? I mentioned him, because he is the dark art user, yet wasnāt much happy about it at the end⦠still couldnāt cast itā¦
Sorry, writing on phone so was trying to keep it short. Draco is irrelevant because itās already been established that dark arts users can rarely cast a patronus. So heās just one more data point that most canāt. You might as well have mentioned Mulciber or Crabbe. It doesnāt matter how happy he is about it. If Emeric the Evil could cast a patronus then that would be an example worth mentioning as that would be an outlier.
Dark wizards/witches can cast patronus. Umbridge is proof
According to legend, one dark wizard got consumed by maggots bursting from his wand when he tried but as its a legend, its accuracy is dubious and regardless Dark magic users can cast patronus' safely
and effectively
But rarely...
As said above... not even Draco can...
Umbridge could learn that before becoming dark wizard
Regardless itās clear a dark witch etc can cast one properly with no consequences
Becoming a dark magic user doesnāt auto prevent one from conjuring patronus
Well, I think we mentioned multiple times before that it's not impossible, just rare š¤·š»āāļø
sooo⦠what was up with Ailsa Travers and the Lord of The Manor?? encountered them as infamous foes, but Ailsa died just from casting depulso, and the Lord died instantly from ancient magic šš
was there meant to be more to them? it feels like there was.
just says she was close friends with Rookwood
That's just how ridiculously easy infamous foes are, you can even one shot them with petrificus totalus which is hilarious
there are many āinfamous foesā like that and theyāre all just normal ashwinders/goblins with a nametag
idk whats the point tbh
Basically just enemies with additional lores, which feels unnecessary for some
@steel badger your name is based
Thank you! Check out my profile pic, very appropriate for this group.
yeah it's sweet
So guys what theory going on
šāāļø I have a theory how Ominis can be rich even though Gaunts before Marvolo are said to be poor...
If hogwarts legacy 2 really is a prequel to Harry Potter ima cry š
Hopefully itās all wrong
I want to visit St.Mungoās am I alone on this?
iām gonna hold your hand while i say this
no you are not alone i want to aswell
Please no
Yeah I know right? It gets mentioned a lot but we never see it but that goes for a lot of things to be honest
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
yeah itās a shame really. when i got the game i thought it would be the same timeline as harry potter
my deepest apologies and condolences go out to you
I mean isnāt it? lol itās years before the Harry Potter era but same timeline no?
Have they learned nothing :(
ah you know what i mean
i thought it would be the same year and what not
Oh gotcha
I mean would be neat I guess but it would just be āYour character just so happens to be there when Harry Potter is doing his thing in the movies/books have fun!ā
yeah fair
i do like that the game has a lot of references to harry potter and vice versa
Me too honestly itās really neat :p
frrrr
@dusty osprey i was showing my friend how i crushed your soul just now and they said āis that them in their pfp? tell them theyāre cute from your random friendā
Awwhh thank you so much haha theyāre too kind
Well thank them for me I suppose lol but yeah my soul is a withering venomous tentacula now
NOT A VENOMOUS TENTACULA
š It was the closest thing I can think of when I imagined how my soul must look like
Also theyāre pretty strong in game besides the Chinese chomping cabbage :p
true true
š¤¦š»āāļø what's wrong with You hufflepuffs?
Don't even ask them, you will lose your time
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN
sounds like youāre jealous that hufflepuffs can have a conversation š¤Ø
Jealous that Hufflepuffs have the power to crush souls.
Just that conversations with hufflepuffs are the waste of time... š¤¦š»āāļø
Other Hufflepuffs are cool ok
Itās just me who falls into this category
Itās funny that after I said that Aggie remarked that they get to go to Azkaban as if they were being committed after crushing souls. š
wait no is it flipping confirmed
We assume so
But hopefully theyāre just kidding and theyāre like āHaha sorry guys! Itās gonna continue from hogwarts legacy 1ā
Maybe itās a prequel in a sense that like we see some familiar faces? I donāt know
WAIT YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT HOGWARTS LEGACY 2
OH
idk anything abt it
i completely missed the 2
i 100% thought you were originally asking about the first game š
Nooooo I was asking for the sequel haha
Weāll see
Iām prepared to be disappointed if itās a prequel
As far as I know, we have no reason to think it's a prequel.
is a master at being skeptical š
We seen nothing of the HBO series too
is deeply skeptical that the TV series will not suck
It's practically guaranteed.
ignore everything i said
I mean thereās still a chance!
A very evil chance but a chance nonetheless
true true
Whatever comes out, it needs to have a conclusion to Sebastianās story
Or at least an extension on it
Dark Lord Sebastian please
Weāre just watching his descent into madness
Iām gonna be all like āAnything you want Sebastian, Letās go mess up the ministry of magicā
Sounds fun. The ministry is too corrupt anyways.
I want more Ominis's storyline... Downfall of the house of Gaunt!
I agree yeeeees
Absolutely! I have a head canon of a Gaunt Massacre where they all end up murdering one another in search for the Heir of Slytherin that was prophesied from their line. (Ominis seems like the true heir, as he is blind which fits the Basilisk requirement)
In my mind, Ominis couldāve died from a genetic disease because lord knows that his family is messed up in that regard
Or as I said before, he is most likely the last pureblood Gaunt to attend Hogwarts, so is more skilled and smarter than the rest and disagree with the family flaws, so he can simply wash away memories of the last other living Gaunt to remember him (probably Marvolo and his children) and disappear from his Gaunt heritage once and for all.
Thatās a neat head canon
Iāve also got another one that Ominis adopted a Muggleborn witch and one night, because he was terrified for her safety, he ended his relations with the family so to speak.
Dark Lord Sebastian though š
Nah Iām looking for a Sebastian redemption arc
Auror Sebastian does sound cool
The irony
Killing your family member that was an auror just to become one yourself
Unspeakable Sebastian
Minister of Magic Sebastian
Basically what Solomon did
Hippogriff Farmer Sebastian (my head canon)
My head canon would just be Dark Lord Sebastian
Lol Iāve seen so many Pinterest pins on that
I donāt want peace I want problems always
Noo
I gotta see them
A chaotic Hufflepuff
Iām evil Cedric from cursed child (Bless their heart that itās non-canon)
hardly doubt that. Anne would absolutely reject him. She doesnāt want to see him now, but still loves him. If he would go any deeper to dark arts, wouldnāt have a logical reason for that anymore. Anne would reject him completely.
This is assuming Sebastian falls so deep into the dark arts he doesnāt care about Anne anymore, I donāt know a hufflepuff can dream š¤·āāļø but thatās a very logical answer :D
Exactly.
He really has nothing left to lose- if anything he needs forgiveness and a light in his life.
Like... he didn't care much what she thinks already, so it probably can somehow happen. But it would end in the moment he would face her personally. Anyway I think he is lost case. He would either choose the way to be redeemed or commit suicide at the end. Or do something incredibly reckless again š¤¦š»āāļø
Letās hope it doesnāt end in suicide however likely the matter in the game:(
Well... different case would probably be, if Anne dies. Then Sebastian might become absolutely mad....
Why do I think that Sebastian might after doing this renouce the dark arts and become an auror and eventually become a defence against the dark arts professor who had once dabbled in the dark arts during his youth but now teaches students how to defend against such dark arts bc he knows how dangerous dark arts are
idk.....just....weird speculation and...perhaps a bit of wishful thinking that sebastian will redeem himself a bit somehow
I feel like any game set after HL is not going to delve into Seb's fate to preserve the player's choice in HL whichever they chose
Prob do it like KOTOR2 were one the player can decide what gender the MC was and what events occur in their KOTOR1 run via dialogue choices
and keeping characters who would know what happened either vague or not talking bout it or out of the story altogether
I agree, they wouldnāt want to do the work required.
Youāll get one letter about Sebastian either going a trip to find himself or being stuck in Azkaban. š
Awwhhh but it would be cool seeing Sebastian play a bigger role in hogwarts legacy 2
Regardless of the situation- We see his fall into dark arts or his redemption to do better
I donāt know maybe its just me :p
Overarching stories are my jam
There's also a possibility they'd skip it entirely and we get a game set in the future
Thatās fair
Could be as a newer student maybe
And seeing our character cameo in the background or something
So, I've been thinking; its said that Ariana Dumbledore was killed in the 3-way duel between her brothers and Grindelwald. Yet we also know she had an obscurus, a dark, magic-suppressed made parasite that eventually kills its host, and that nobody could figure out which spell/curse killed her. So.....who's to say any of them killed her? It could've been her obscurus!
I believe that yeah itās possible
We'll likely never know what happened though AD came to think he did it as he told Newt he did
They never learned as far we know which one actually hit her with their spell and thats if any of them actually did.
AD feared GG knew though
Hmm... who you think would be a head boy and head girl from the characters in hogwarts legacy?
My bet for a head girl would be Imelda š¤, but a head boy?
Iām not sure whether each House has a head girl and boy, or if thereās only one pair per year.
Thereās only 2 in the whole school
2 seventh years from any house
How u know?
But it just makes sense doesnāt it? I mean no school has 4 school captains
My schools didnāt have school captains, so shrug
Mine does!
Wait lemme google it and see if anything pops up
According to the wiki, one head boy and one head girl were chosen from the entire seventh year
so yeah theres only 2, not per house
But what is their source for that? I don't recall the books ever specifying...
Uhh theyāre the wiki they can make stuff up
But i think the books did imply there were only 2
shrug Oh well. Until we get definitive proof one way or another, I'm gonna headcanon.
We know that Percy was head boy in book 3 but no other head girl was mentioned for gryffindor nor a head boy or girl for any other house
(To be fair, the books didn't care about any other Houses, really.)
Sure! Iām gonna head into this cannon over here-
(True š )
I'm only two for entire school. Lily and James were at their time...
so back to my question, who you think it would be in Hogwarts legacy?
The Mc gets handed everything so they would be one of those. š
Prefects were two per house per year so it wouldnāt make sense for the head boy and girl to be per house as they would overlap with 7 year prefect. In order to be special it would need to be two in the whole school.
I honestly think that the MC was meant to be male Ravenclaw...
Ravenclaw is the only one to not have relationship questline and on main pictures of HL the character is a male... (doesn't have a skirt)
So yeah, our MC could be a head boy...
The head boy and head girl are leading prefects. So yeah, it would not make sense to have two in every house.
Anyway... what about head girl?
MC wasn't "meant" to be any particular House.
And there are plenty of female outfits that don't have skirts.
Ok... if you say so...
Still have not answered my question š¤¦š»āāļø
Who is the head boy and head girl if not the MC?
The character on main pictures doesn't look feminine to me anyway... š¤¦š»āāļø
And why there is not Ravenclaw relationship side questline?
Because Ravenclaw got the shaft in this game. The worst Jackdaw quest, no relationship questline, etc. There really isn't a single thing that Avalanche did for it.
Still haven't answered my first question...
I don't care about the Head Boy/Girl question. I'm still operating on headcanon for that one.
Anyway... on pictures the MC has ravenclaw colors as well...
All I've ever seen them in is black robes, usually hooded.
Can I share pictures somewhere here?
Youāre not gonna convince each other. This discussion will lead nowhere.
You can DM me. I don't know about in the server.
Just talking about pictures... look at main one on steam page and the one for HL official game guide
I'd rather not go hunting. shrug
Fine whatever...
This is correct
There is no default setting for the protagonist from the game's data files
The protagonist was always ambiguous enough to be wherever you wanted them to be
Also why would the protagonist be Head Boy/Head Girl? They've been at school for a total of one schooling semester and had not contributed to much to professors or their fellow peers
Who the heck would vote or nominate them? Even Harry didn't care for it and gave the honours to Ron.
If someone would like to take the story and make series from it, they would have to choose... and as I said the character on main pictures is most likely male in ravenclaw colors. That's all to it.
I honestly would expect to the main be ravenclaw, he is solving lot of puzzles on his own and the final decision he has to make is not about bravery but wisdom...
They're not going to make a series out of it
At their seventh year... he saved the entire school
Being tied to the HP IP
The game is not canon
JK Rowling never acknowledged any of the HP games to be part of her canon
She has complete control over the lore itself
Just saying if they would. And I don't care what JK Rowling thinks it's canon...
That still doesn't matter
They're not going to do it
Because they have neither announced any plans for it
Nor have they gotten the JK Rowling stamp of approval
It doesn't matter if you dislike her
She owns the IP and has the final say
Not denying that. But if she say cursed child is canon lot is ignoring it š¤·š»āāļø
But yes no one else can do anything else with the lore, because of author laws... which is a pity... Simce she herself can't do that
You think she's bad? Tolkien and his son were very protective of Middle Earth where they won't let anyone outside of the Tolkien Estate influence canon.
She's literally not the only author who does this. I'd say she's easier to work with than the Tolkiens were
Yeah, but they didn't ruin their own story by saying things that weren't written and wasn't writing new ones that does respect the previous poorly
But what remains as factual is that HL is unlikely to ever be considered canon because it doesn't need to be. It can exist outside of it.
It doesn't need a series or adaptation because the plot would never work nor gain traction
It'll crash and burn like the FB movies did
That's why they're rebooting the books instead. Because the books are the biggest moneymakers
KOTOR isn't considered canon by Star Wars lore and I still liked it.
That's exactly it... I've seen lot of lores being ended differently or continued on the new things
-# the difference is tolkein actually wrote good stories to be canon
Exactly
Lmaooo stop making me agree with you
What? Iām a nice person!
We have to like fight for entertainment š š
Grr fine
But nah seriously
HL was not great lmao
It felt like some self insert isekai fanfic
it was far from what it couldāve been
It had potential, it wasnā too bad, but it could have been a hundred times better
Unseasoned steak
Is what I'd compare it to
Also the plot introduces plot beats that seriously went nowhere
As I said before, give me good team and I would make fantastic series from that. The potential is there it just fall behind because of rush and customization of the game
Should've made a Fallout 3 styled timeskip sequence
I highly doubt it
People keep saying they have so much ideas to "make it great"
But all their ideas fall into Booktok levels of writing
Introduce ideas because "it sounds cool" but never addressing it
Ancient Magic plot was bad
The game tricks you into thinking you have a choice but segues you into picking an option you don't want
It's fundamentally broken
My brother is a writer. And we together study what makes lores become great, what is that the character is so popular etc.
And?
What does that have to do with making it great?
Just because you think you can achieve it, doesn't mean the audience will
At best they should just abandon the HL timeline and start fresh somewhere else without the Ancient Magic plot line
It's about writing. Meanings and honestly a lot about advertising.
Why? I think the idea is good
It would explain some things even later on
Sure but you have a lot of misconceptions about intellectual property ownership and copyright laws. WB + JKR are the biggest gatekeepers
It wouldn't
You say
Part of why the DLC was cancelled is because they likely found that it wasn't worth expanding on
So they either focus on a new installation
And make a good game this time from the ground up
No use salvaging the first game's plot
Better just create something new
If they would focus more on ties to HP itself... as I said, in their 7. year Dumbledore would be first year... again lot of potential š¤·š»āāļø
There can be Triwizard Cup
Where?
Goblet of Fire explicitly mentions that the tournament isn't brought back until 1994
Since it was banned in the 1700s
So a Triwizard Tournament would break canon unless they set the game 100 years into the past
Oh, ok just read it.. š¤
That would be cool to see another version of triwizard tournament š
Or... focusing on discovering more about the first founders. Ominis mentioned his aunt wanted to find out something more about Salazar, because she believed there has to be more to him than that bloodpurity stuff etc. It would be nice to learn more
Also... take Witcher games for example... they are not canon either and were incredibly successful that the author had to fight who was actually first the game or the books
Thatās a perfect analogy
I think if you kept the combat, the visuals and the broomstick mechanics and changed literally everything else youād have the perfect game
Better writing, better characters with character development, dialogues that affect the story, choices that affect the story (like whether or not you learnt the unforgivables, chose to seal the magic at the end, etc.), and GAVE RAVENCLAW GOOD CHARACTERS WHO HAVE A BIT MORE PERSONALITY THAN JUST BEING ABLE TO SPEAK āGOBBLEDEGOOKā AND NOT EVEN DOING THAT RIGHT youād have an amazing game
If you doesn't like the game much, why are you still here? š š
I think the main problem I've had with this game were diabolically bad facial expressions and the most unnatural dialogues ever
Idk tbh
But I made some friends here so Iām staying to chat with them
True
But I suppose itās the 1800s and people used to be awkward all the time back in the day! Jk
They hadnāt invented natural-sounding dialogue yet.
Exactly
I enjoyed a game a lot. As My friend I was not much interested in HP world before, but playing HL I became quite a fan. It made me cry in some moments, especially during the first flight on hippogryph. And I do love the characters as well. Can be made better yes, but still I love it
My friend was skeptical at first as well.., absolutely got addicted to it
I wouldn't join discord server of a game I didn't enjoyed much at a first place...
I enjoyed it once upon a time
In those simpler days, when my imagination was large and my optimism was highā¦
In the times of old, when I knew not the horrors of the worldā¦
I proud of myself to still be able to enjoy these simple things even after horrors of the world š that's what make people truly happy
Indeed⦠thou art strong in will
Dialogues between Sebastian and Ominis were good š
Yeah but it still felt forced and cartoony. Naughty dog does characters very well, check out some clips of Nathan and Elena talking, it feels so real...it's how actual people talk to each other
Well... Seb a Ominis are two young boys talking in school... If I recall how our dialogues were at school š omg, better not to remember šš¤£
Like omg you can't expect deep and meaningful dialogues from 15 years old... though Ominis surprised by what he was saying many times...
I never wanted that, but no one talks like characters in HL...It's like watching a really really badly made Anime...there's like 2 different expressions and the lips don't even sync the words half of the time. I'm just saying there's a lot of room for improvement...it's like watching a statue talk. You can have goofy conversations AND make them feel real...the "mean" dialogue options are pathetic too. Get what I'm trying to say?
I actually agree with you that the dialogue in the game is pretty bad. It's not teenage cringe awkward that reminds one of adolescence, it's just robotic and cartoony encroaching into uncanny territories
Like the characters' faces are very much lacking expression that makes them look lifeless.
Mean options are just being a mild inconvenience despite marketing itself as a choice based game
Exactly what I was trying to say. Look at how well Naughty dog did facial expressions and dialogue with later Uncharted games. It feels real and they're talking like everyday people around us
Well, it's a game for 12 years so it obviously would be more cartoony
But don't understand it wrong, I would also prefer better expressions, dialogues etc., but question is, how much the targeted audience really needs it. You can focuses on other things then...
My favorite game now is baldur's gate. But bg3 also has different audience that is targeted to 18+, so it's more complex, more difficult etc.
I honestly think the sooner the developers realize that probably the biggest part of Harry Potter audience are those who grew up with it, the better. People which are now at least 18+. Childern interested in Harry Potter now are the children of these old audience....
I mean it's fine to supply younger people with games to play too, but you can make it visually detailed but keep it simple so that a wider community can enjoy it not just 10 year olds that have the attention span of an asthmatic chihuahua
Even if I was 12yo there's no way I'd connect or relate to the dialogue. I'd still focus on how whack the facial expressions are hahah...but that's just me i'm a nerd for details...one of the things HL did great was light passing through the window and then bouncing off the polished marble floor and scatter around the rooms/castle...i'm guessing that's global illumination not just lighting sources everywhere so that's great
if I consider fact, that it is a game for 12 years, they did a good job that the elders enjoyed it as well. Sure, could have been much better, but with this audience...
As I said, even a friend (elder nerd) who didn't like Harry Potter much, absolutely fell for HL. So on it's "bad", it's still pretty good game š
For sure it is...it's fun no doubt but if they ever decide to make another game i'd expect massive improvements
I've played games for 12 year olds with better writing ngl. The original HP books are for children around that age too but had better dialogue overall. Being a kid's game isn't really an excuse because kids aren't as dumb as you think they are
I would even say children's cartoons from my childhood had better writing in some aspects of the dialogue
HL was just very stilted and awkward like Racer2Go says
first 2 books were a lot cartoony as wellā¦
idk, not sure what exactly you mean. I kind of enjoyed the dialogues
give me an example of a game for 12 years with better dialogues š¤·š»āāļø
First two books were also when Harry was 11 and 12 respectively but there's a higher maturity level the older Harry gets
HL's dialogue options is very bad
The option says one thing but your character says another thing entirely
Game for 12 year olds with better dialogue? Any game with a T-rating in the market right now
Persona 4 has much better dialogue than HogLeg and it had teenage characters
Even the most kiddie FF game like Final Fantasy IX had better dialogue (barring awkward translations of the PSX era)
I think even the overly flowery high fantasy language of Unicorn Overlord did dialogue better and I considered it's plot generic
Persona 4 is 16+....
Also you have to judge it together with other aspects of a game like customization, open world attention to details, combat system etc.
And after all this I still think dialogues in HL are not bad. If you judge that character says different than the option is... maybe. But cutscene dialogues random dialogues between characters during missions are pretty good
And honestly random dialogues between characters like if you can use accio on humans is exactly what I would expect from students on magic school... Something I honestly bit miss in first two HP books at least... (not sure about further books, haven't read them yet...)
Not in Japan
It's rated Cero B which is 12+
You honestly don't need to judge it with other aspects
Because Persona 4 simply has stronger character writing and plot
It's generic and cheesy to me but cohesive
HL's dialogue is very choppy with regards to choice
You could say something but the game makes you say something else
Which is what the other guy is pointing out
Might as well not give you a choice to begin with if all roads lead to the same conclusion
12+ in japan is not the same as 12+ in Europe. I know manga with lot of blood, sexuality etc. And it was for 12/13+ in japan. But Europe would mark it probably 16+ at least.
Persona 4 on steam is 16+
Europe age rating is irrelevant
What matters is the writing quality
Persona 4 is a game written for a YA demographic (approximately 12+)
And has better dialogue than HL
The fact that matters is the writing
Even still I listed 2 other games that fall into the same age group demographic
And they have much better dialogue than HogLeg
Well, haven't played the games, so idk. FF is irrelevant as well, it's on league of its own.
And honestly, the games (except ff) doesn't interest me. So I don't really care if their writing or dialogues are in some ways better. I would not play it anyway, so it failed completely it's main purpose. People are hating, but lot actually finished the game, so it definitely wasn't bad.
Then you have no ground to stand on considering you are grasping at straws to defend HogLeg's choppy dialogue
The subject is about writing quality of the dialogue not if you personally want to play it
You can fanboy over HL all you want but all I did was agree with another person that HL's dialogue wasn't good
But despite that I still the dialogue was good š¤·š»āāļø
Not always, but was good
nah the dialogue is pretty bad. they could have done way better with this game
If by "dialogue" you mean the dialogues with options, than yeah. It could have been better if I'm thinking about it. I honestly think, it's not necessary for MC to be voiced in dialogues which you choose. In lot of games MC is not voiced in that moments and it's absolutely ok. Leaving more afford to be done elsewhere - like writing the actual dialogues.
I agree, just feels unnatural...and the facial expressions are def not something to be proud of
I do wish there were more dialogue choices.
Donāt we all? š
Hereās to hogwarts legacy 2 being heckin massive and expanded upon where the first one lacked
Dark wizard path please with its own plethora of story š„ŗ
hi.
Hi. :3
i heard hogward legacy 2 is gonna live service
given wb publishes it and that their revenu is down 50% you can expect them to want to milk us out of all of the money they can get lol.
is why i don't get my hopes up for it.
what's new around here ?
only thing i heard about hogward legacy 2 was that the same studio that made hogward legacy went and put out job posting about needed people for a live service game. so that's pretty telling tbh.
nmnm.
and they said they were working on howard legacy 2 as a game too. so i think we only need to connect the dots to figure it out lol
-# Howard Legacy
WB need quick cash really fast for their investor. so, hogward legacy is clear choice about wanting to make a cheap game with big income. which likely means less quality for a higher price and tons of microtransaction that are heavily priced toward people with tons of money.
i don't expect it to be a good game tbh.
but we'll see.
ARE YOU GETTING IT FOR YOUR CAR STEREO SYSTEM
FOR MY WASHING MACHINE TOOOOO
OMG LAUNDRY DAY WILL NEVER BE A CHORE AGAINNN
WHY WASH CLOTHES WHEN YOU CAN WASH YOUR CLOTHES AND KILL ALDUIN AT THE SAME TIME
IKR THAT'S WHAT I SAID

<@&755190193367023772> What if one of you started sending spam links too? That would be funny
Hey guys, Iām new here
So I found something quite interesting in the game about the Gaunt House.
I was in the tower of defence against dark arts when I heard Ominis mentioning he has a little sister in first year. I checked online and I saw NOTHING about it- did I just found something new all by myself?
(its in the french version)
French version = best version .(I'm American, but very much a Francophile).
Ikr!
That's probably just random NPC dialogue, tbh.
Fun fact, tho: I've heard Archie's mother Johanna mention him having a sister.
Maybe yeah but sheās a npc on the side, Iām talking about a quite important character (which is Ominis)
But Iāll keep that in mind thank you
(Also Ominis says that he casts a spell on his sister when sheās ignoring him on purpose)
Yes, that's random NPC dialogue, and the one I thought you were probably talking about.
:( sad
nodnod
Not to say that it's impossible for Ominis to have a younger sister, I think....except you'd think she'd be mentioned at some point. shrug
We know he has at least two older siblings.
Yeahh possibly (people are saying it could be Marvalo?!?)
Yes, that's my headcanon as well---that Marvolo is Ominis' eldest brother.
I've always thought of Ominis as the baby of the family.
Yeah!
Hello, do you speak french ?

Yes, Ominis as a character is not supposed to say that. It's something about his voice actor also doing dialogue for NPCs, or something like that...
@indigo holly Can you explain better?
The name šš
all of our names are perfectly normal wdym
I don't speak French.
Neither do I; I used Google Translate. But essentially, Luna overheard Ominis talking to Leander, and saying the NPC line about how he has a little sister who's just started at Hogwarts, and every time she purposely ignores him, he casts the Trip Jinx on her or something of that sort. And I don't remember exactly why Ominis sometimes says those kinds of things.
Yeah, that's just ambient dialogue done by the same VA. You can tell that it's not Ominis because the accent is wrong and the voice a bit lower, but someone who doesn't speak English fluently may not pick up on that
@thorn nest
Keep playing and you'll learn which ambient dialogue lines actually belong to him by which ones are only ever said by him and no one else. It's basically the ones where he's speaking to you directly; about the troll in Hogsmeade, or about y'all and Sebastian's misadventures
Ohh thankksss
(in French tho, it does sound like Ominis- unlike in English like you just said)
Im sad i didnt record it
Ahh.
No prob š
What is the American verson of auras called
Think they're just called Aurors. idk, tho. JKR isn't so hot on the non-British worldbuilding.
Okay thanks
Because if they weren't, it wouldn't feel like belonging to an exclusive club. š
Still Auror. Tina Goldstein becomes Head of Auror the Office for Macusa
Cos he has magic and is a UK citizen and Hogwarts takes in UK citizens as students and Dumbledore has no authority to not permit to go. He was a teacher, not Headmaster and its also not in his nature to refuse prospective students.
He believed in change and 2nd chances and wanted to give TR that chance to do so.
It didn't pan out in the end. He admits he wishes he had done more back then to try and deal with TRs issues but the reality is TR was who he was by then and odds are no amount of intervention could have steered him to being a better person.
He failed
He wasn't TRs guardian nor was going to give him special treatment or anything.
Especially in those time periods were people just thought differently compared to now bout how to handle kids or teen with serious issues
Lv waz created
That was TRs choices
Not ADs fault.
AD is not responsible for what TR became
Only TR himself
Hogwarts doesnāt take in just UK citizens, anyone can join if they want to from anywhere in the world
Yah but they have to make arrangements for that. Their book only shows the names of magical people from Ireland and UK. Magic schools take on their own regionās students generally
yeah but you can go to other schools
In the 4th book or something draco says that his father wanted him to go to durmstrang but narcissa said it was too far
Is molly a pureblood ?
Yes.
That ia why ahe ia so powerful
Actually, it has nothing to do with it. A muggleborn can be just as powerful magically as a pureblood.
I love molly
Hornetman is racist confirmed?!??1?1!,1?11?11?!1
Maybe blood racist. XD
Exactly! We have to arrest him
Itās not against the law to be blood racist, tho. š
I do not like pure bloods as much they are boring to rp.
Azara kadavra eat spell lol
ah yes, azara kadavra my favourite spell
They do now. ššļø
WOOHOOO WIZARDING RIGHTS

insert an animated dancing emoi here

YAYY TY EFFIE
YWWWW
Hi
We were, yeah.
Is she not only pure blood but from a family full of powerful wizards
She's from one of the 'Sacred Twenty-Eight'
Now i see how she defeated belatrix
But that has nothing to do with it
I mean normal wizards will have very tuff time
Not going off topic saying
Her bloodline has nothing to do with how strong of a witch she is.
Ok š
That was a point that was driven home multiple times in the books.
About why the superiority complex of blood purists and the discrimination against Muggle-borns was complete nonsense.
Hermione was literally the most brilliant student at Hogwarts during her time.
The malfoys
You're still not giving me any actual evidence
Malfoys used to hate mud bloods
My point is it doesn't make any difference between pure blood and mud bloods Hermione itself is a proof and the fact magonical itself gave the Hogwarts letter to her family is a Big thing which shows she is in league of her own
Yes, that's the point I'm trying to make, so why did you say 'now I see how [Molly] defeated Bellatrix' when I confirmed that she was a pureblood?????
Also stop saying Mudblood
Nah a video confused me saying it because of her blood line
Ok š
Then whoever made that video is a moron
Is The potters pure blood
Yes, up to James
Ah yes now I remember many of the potters where successful in making potions and from that other potions created
Tru some Just add unnecessary contents to make it up and not going according to lore
not bc they were pure blood though, because they were good wizards
Hey chat, I don't know if this belongs here, but does anyone know what music is playing when we ride the graphorn for the first time? I couldn't find its name anywhere...
Thank you so much! Was it released on a music streaming platform (eg, Deezer, Spotify, etc.)?
I have no idea. owo
I'd love to listen to it, it conveys the feeling I think I'd get when riding that beast so well
ikr? I always get hyped when I get to that part of the game.
I think its the same theme as Test Drive from How to Train your Dragon. Very similar anyway
It's not the same, but it's similar.
Yeah. Different key i think
OMG I Was today years onld when I realised that is hogwarts legacy was before the events of harry potter that means.......... Profeser Black is related to Sirius Black? Or is it just me who relised that lol
Yes, it's his great-great grandfather.
Google: Professor Phineas Nigellus Black was born in 1847. He was a pure-blood wizard and a member of the House of Black, Also Google: Sirius Black III was born on 3 November 1959, in the London borough of Islington, England, to Orion Black and Walburga Black, (Lol!)
Are we talking about Daedalian Key's? LOL
Why is this funny?
No. :3
lol I know i just thought of it when you guys said keysš¤£
And bc I'm funny š
fails to laugh ;-;
Oh well I tried
Can someone pls send a screen shot of the letters poppy sweeting send's MC pls!
Poppy didn't send that last one.

Presumably the dead poacher next to the letter.
no that's Angus
No, Angus is the person writing the letter to Smithey.
Angus is in Borneo.
I thought it was the other way around
I know that
Okay, jms.
I think its the only note pertaining to Poppy. Probably didn't need to add it š¤·āāļø
no your good thank you for sending them lol

It'll be a purple force one
^^ depulso! I knew it was somethinā with movement but my mind reallly said āare u sure?ā
Skill issue
Lol bit late there buddy :p
Doing some research on wandlore and figured out that protagonist would atleast canonically be most likely to have been chosen by an Oak Wood Wand. It's dependable, durable, and powerful in every magical discipline. Favors loyalty, integrity, and persistence. Capable of great magical depth in elemental and protective magic. It tends to be attuned nature, magical creatures, and ANCIENT MAGIC.
My MC is English Oak. š
I'm talking most likely wand that fits the story, not you.
YOUR MC IS A TREE?!?!
She's not me.
Many of you will disagree but Ranrok should have at least some reason to turn evil and destroy the wizarding world besides just the humans treating goblins like slaves. I wish we somehow heard from him before we accidentally drained his soul when killing his dragon form.
I say accidentally, because he needed to be stopped, but not explicitly to be killed, no villain deserves death, but cruel punishment
There are perhaps so many times where the opportunity is given but plot armor says that you shouldnt kill a villain, but stop their doings
But I feel like something has snapped from Ranrok that made him became a serial killer
Could be
And before you say it ik there are times where wizards were treating goblins horribly, but there had to be a deeper reason
U might be spot on but whatever the reason it was, it wasn't clear
Its either i might have missed a tiny detail or its meant to be cryptic
regardless while ranrok was a murderer its too bad we didnt hear his last words
A book about Ranrok and his goblin origins would be fire ngl, understanding more about his brothers and himself
ā¦only if i can read that isš
Hopefully u read lol, something I noticed even killing ||ranrok the story doesn't end there||
Dang that might as spoiler ig
if ur in a spoiler channel, expect spoilers
duh
Ofc I say that as ||Rookwood deserved to die but my rebutal is that your protagonist had to defend himself from Rookwood but ended up killing him with ancient magic. Fr expected him to be tired out and sent to azkaban but death is wild||
Hey, not saying death aint cool but its undeserved for many
The only two who didn't deserve to face consequences were Ominus and Anne. Everyone else kept pushing to be involved despite knowing the dangers.
Well, I guess there was a little bit of lore-building Ranrok had of that story Lodgok told us. The story kind of goes (from what I remember) is there was a camp of wizards doing.. smth I don't exactly remember, and Ranrok(in his youth/younger days) was mesmerized. He watched them and wanted to join them but didn't have the courage too. One day, when he built up the courage to try and talk to them(or was just a spur of a moment, I'm not sure), a wizard had dropped their wand. He picked it up and went to give it back to them, but the wizards saw the goblin with a wand in their hand and freaked out. They nearly beat him to death, and ever since Ranroks held a hatred for wizard-folk.
So idk, I guess that would be his whole reasoning/motive
Yeah, I do hear that wizards and goblins are a hate relationship, but for him to crumble wizard world, even with all the goblins in it, something else mustāve happened
here's the whole story
He wasn't exactly trying to crumble the wizarding world, just the wizards. His whole motivation was to make the goblins the superior or dominant race, not dismiss magic at all or anything. He only sought out the ancient magic to fuel him and his other goblins in their pursuit and only failed because of the MC and Professor Fig stopping/killing him. If the MC and Professor Fig never stopped him, he probably would've collapsed Hogwarts/whatever (but he wouldn't care since it was a school for wizards) and made a war against wizard-kind to be the ruling race. Kind of like the first rebellion of the Hunger Games and if the people won but turned as evil as the Capitol did I would assume
He did had several brothers as well, did something happen to them that invoked ranrok?
Because if anything having your family been wreaked by wizards is every right to be villainized
Uh, I'm not sure. I think maybe just his own experience and the goblin-human history was his whole motivation. Instead of his family being wronged, I feel like it was his whole race being wronged.
Ignoring Lodgok, since he betrayed him (in a good way)
Humans/Wizards and Goblins always fought and disagreed, with Humans/Wizards looking down on Goblins and having Goblin artifacts(like the whole first quest with Lodgok) and Goblins disagreeing against Human/Wizard customs and having feuds about stuff like ownership
The goblins felt oppressed/not treated right and Wizard-kind believed themselves in the right/above Goblins. Sure, a whole rebellion and enslaving/killing Wizardkind over it seems to be the wrong way to go about it instead of fighting for equal rights/etc, I feel it's still enough reason for why Ranrok felt so strongly.
I picked either Elder or English Oak and Dragon Heartstring for my MC wand
Pretty sure just wizards.
Other humans or mongols arent seen by goblins
wizards/witches
It's kind of (not exactly but kind of similar feeling) like Slaves/Black People vs. White People in around the 1800's. At least, the closest analogy I can get from it. Obviously it's not the same situation, but how Goblins vs. Wizardkind fight/reasoning is from oppression/denied rights is the similar part.
well yes and no. The only true slaves are the elves
goblins arent being labored to anything just plain mistreated interactions
wizards dont even trust goblins to do labor
Fair enough, it's only an analogy. But it's still the races head butting against each other.
well besides from gringotts
pretty sure gringotts are run by goblins who have more faith in wizardkind
they run the place
i remember a banker got killed because he wasnt part of ranrokās forces
he refused to join him
Well, it's also Wizardkind trusting the goblins to be safe/respectable with their money just as citizens trust banks to be safe/respectable with their money.
If Wizarding didn't trust the goblins to do the labor of banking then gringotts wouldn't be functional
I say that as they help the wizards with the locket vault anyway
Ultimately wizards refuse to give Goblins wands and teach them wandlore and Goblins in turn won't teach wizards their own magic
That is also true
probably because they evolved to become used to not using wands
or born without such logic
ranrok is a old goblin, he knows it better
Well wands is also not the only way for Wizards to express and have magic, like shown in other parts in the world from Natty.
even if ranrok tells them that but some newer goblins would think its just a hoax because it sounds nothing like they do
Wizards in europe and USA are just used to wands, that they struggle to adapt to wandless magic. Meanwhile in other countries like Africa, wandless magic is dominant over there and they have no issue with it
elves too, wandless magic. Powerful ones too
Its just wizards back in the day, trying to maintain superiority by only allowing themsleves wands
cos they got so use to them and they allowed them focus their magic spells better
I feel as such wands were introduced later as a means to 'hone magic' from wielding it rather than having magic as a default. So it's more of a tool, almost like a crutch for walking. The reasoning for the wizards struggling to do magic without wands is like walking without a crutch anymore. At least, that's how I view it.
they would be at a disadvantage if they gave other species wands
that's true as well
Definitely a reasoning behind not letting Goblins have wands
Wizards in euroope basically have conditioned themselves to think they need wands to do magic effectively so they tend to not train in wandless magic as much
Hmm, yeah, especially elves.
Goblins were never born with magic, but admit one thing, they are most excellent at manufacturing
but it seems the lore of goblins is a little off compared to hp, when they are young, they are einstiens, but get much stupider as they get older
But it seems in the HP universe, they are smarter regardless
that kind of confused me
That's also true, the HL universe vs. The HP universe has differing views on goblin and makes this reasoning a lot harder lol
Yeah HL goblins are sub geniuses. they educate themselves insanely quick and build massive contraptions for heavy work
Goblines do have magic though. Innate magic
I say quick because they learned about ancient magic before humans did in the game
Well ancient magic was always known, it just wasn't wielded anymore by wizards
i meant learned again after the keepers
quickly understood the repositories and the keepers
no doubt
Like Professor Figs wife couldn't wield it, but she knew about it. She didn't know anything about the keepers or whatever or Professor Fig would've known
even proffessor fig was surprised
Well that's true, but they also had much less cryptic information from a goblins own perspective in a journal
oh yeah from ranroks past brothers
Goblins got it straight up, while the wizards were trying to pick up a crumb trail (of the keepers and repositories)
pretty much because isadora needed goblin silver
Yes, so I'm just saying while the goblins are smart, it doesn't prove that they are quicker to process/learn it than wizards
talking about the wands previously
Pretty sure it was a european adaptation to cast a plethora of spells
Since wand movement can make thousands of patterns

Unlike using your arms
wands are essential for quick defense and tool
wandless magic is harder to do but stronger
Hmm yes
i wouldnt say a ātoolā but powerful weapon inside of you
you noticed that wand to wand battles are a win or lose on each side
wand to wandless magic is not even a competition
wandless outmatches the beams of said wand
because your two arms are ātwo wandsā
@dense ice Thing is, we don't know how long Ranrok took piecing together what was in the repositories. He also probably kept a lot of information to himself, even from Lodgok. He only seems to have described it to them as wizard magic they were trying to keep to themselves, knowing that alone would piss goblins off and make them follow him to claim it.
Wait so does that mean the only "Wandless Magic" we know is protego???
That lasts maybe 5 - 10 secs
I think the only spells shown wandless is Accio by Fig and Depulso by Ronan when he pushes the balls into position when he first introduces Summoners court
perhaps dodging is wandless magic too š±
no, only your dominant hand is your āwandā
idk what happens if youāre ambidextrous though
Was Dumbledore the most powerful wizard at the time or was he the most powerful wizard ever?
I had always assumed the former. And Merlin being considered the more powerful/greatest wizard of all time.
he was probably the most powerful wizard during the HP series
I personally think it was at the time. Not overall.
I mean he's considered the most powerful wizard of his time at any rate and he backed it up by defeating Elder Wand-wielding GG, who Albus considered his equal and LV was on the backfoot for nearly his only known duel with a much older past his prime Albus granted Albus had the EW at the time to compensate.
How he'd fare against Merlin or a Hogwarts Founder or any other extremely powerful wizard/witch of an older era is impossible to say. Both have advantages and disadvantages in such scenarios.
Albus has more modern magic spells and updated magical knowledge to draw from and potentially the Elder Wand. Merlin and Founders etc potentially have Ancient Magic and spells lost to history to use.
Rewatching Fantastic Beasts, and I know I've googled this before, but how come Harry wasn't an Obscurial? I read someone saying that Harry didn't know he was a wizard, and therefore didn't conciously supress his magic, but Credence didn't know he was a wizard either. He just knew he had wizard ancestry, but he knew nothing about the wizarding world.
I think the most plausible explanation is that Harry's treatment at the Dursleys simply wasn't harsh enough for him to develop an Obscurus.
Well he did get his letter when he turned 11 and then went to hogwarts just like the others. I don't think an obscurus can develop that early as most young wizards and witches don't have magic until they turn 11 or so
And I don't think Harry really suppressed his magic. He just wasn't aware of it or just didn't possess magic until he set that snake free at the zoo
Wrong. Most witches and wizards have magic by the age of 7.
Wrong. He did magic before that.
Idk where i read 11, that must just be me confusing the age you get magic and receiving the letter
Interesting, I didn't read the books so I just referenced some videos or stuff i read online awhile back
Looks like I'll need to get the entire collection š¬š
Ah. That makes sense.
Yassss!
šš
Thatās the age you receive the letter to Hogwarts, yes.
Gonna need to get myself a wee bookshelf for this
One small part for the actual books and the rest of the space...
trinkets
š„¹
Or maybe actual books. Might be a good idea
Are you implying the HP books arenāt actual books, [Maāam/Sir]?! š¤
No! I meant that the HP books shall be the centre of my collection and that i should probably buy more books and read more HAHA
Obscurial die before they reach 10 years old, so they definitely develop very early on
Yep, eggs corrected me on that one
not always š
Is anybody like me and can talk about the Gaunts for hours on end?
I would love to listen to you talk about the Gaunts for hours on end. š
I have been summoned
i would like to subscribe to the TED talk
I'll listen to someone talk about the Gaunts for hours
My people!!!
I hope in the TV show it will show anything linking the Chamber of Secrets to the Gaunts. Corvinus Gaunt hid the Chamber when he was just a student, surely he could have wrote something secretly hidden near the opening or any other Gaunt anything in the chamber itself
hardly doubt so. People want it to strictly follow the books⦠(Which is failing already..)
Lady Voldermort... have you seen her? I'm really hoping it's not true
Yeah I've seen that š
But honestly, if it comes only for Voldemort version without nose, that "destructed one", it actually doesn't bother me that much he would be played by woman. He is inhuman anyway and the fact he will be played by woman can make him feel even more inhuman. His human version would obviously be man imo.
Why would he? The Gaunts would just reveal the info to their members prior to going to Hogwarts and in private. Not leave a record of it in a school were it could be potentially discovered
Tilda Swinton could pull it off I think
I think they'd have LV cast already given they are filming
Omg! This one?! Yeah she definitely CAN pull it off š„° I honestly now want to see how she will do, amazing actress and I definitely can imagine her as inhuman version of Voldemort
ved
She just has to look with shaved head and she would have the voice.
LV is described as having a high cold voice
and she can pull that off
Like if they are gonna go for a female actress as main LV then i nominate her
They should let people make their own hogwarts legacy spin off show/movie or something and if itās good make it canon
Guys
I just watched fantastic beasts
I wish there was a game for it
It's so cool like with the beasts and stuff
And the obulisc
Is there a game??
I wish the same mate, it wouldāve been amazing
I still wonder how HL 2 is gonna tie into the show if that is still gonna happen
Unless its cases were the show adds in stuff that was not seen in the books
but could have still have happened
I also wonder if new stuff will be considered canon
like say the details from Albus meeting Nicohlas and his wife in the show
Was scrolling through reddit and came across something id like some clarification if its true or not but there was discussion that if a curse is cast then the death of the caster would cancel the curse...was wondering if this true or not š
No not the case
Still waiting for HL3
no one
just you wait until you hear about the recent HL4 leaks
You're still on about HL4? HL5 is gonna blow that one out of the water.
Letās just hope by tie ins with the show itās just Easter eggs and nothing more
So help me god lol
Leave Hogwarts Legacy 2 alone š¤§
pail of time travel š
How about this
They don't feel like slaves in the kitchen they like it
And we are supposed to eat thatš
worker bees can leave.
even drones can fly away.
the queen is their slave.
Yo, haiku?
Oh || professor Onai's assessment. You can find trolls in northern Feldcroft or the Coastal Cavern regions. There are few more places but these are easy to reach||. Good luck
|| you can also purchase from J. Pippin's Potions in northwest Hogsmeade. I think for this assessment you need to defeat||
Yeah and another one tends to respawn in Horklump Hollow where you can farm juice for Wiggenwelds, was useful early to mid game (than I got overflowed anyway xd but still helped)
hello everybody
Hello. :3
troublemaker
@modern moth And I say again, that is rumour and superstition.
Source? Because Ollivander has literally said otherwise.
what are ya on about?
The conversation is over, can you please not start it back up
Ok.... I don;'t even know what it was bout but ok
So question - its said in HP lore, hogsmeade is the only all-wizard village in Britain
but in HL we have several villages in the Highlands which appear to be all-wizard villages
with no muggles in them
does the game explain this or is it just going with hogsmeade only wizard village in britain in HPs era
Perhaps they're counting the other groupings of wizard-filled houses to not be "Village" status, since they're so small. Hamlets? It sounds like the kind of technicality a "village" might endorse, since it makes them seem more special! {Grin}
ya maybe
How many people knew that Voldemort used be known as Tom Riddle?
Not many until after the 2nd wizarding war but itās easy to figure out if ya knew his original full name and rearranged the letters as he literally spells out
ts kinda off but can avada kedavra be different colors like some can be greener then others
like in oop voldemorts cast was bluer then the one in gof where it was green
Hogwarts Legacy 2 though š Please donāt put it in Harry Potterās Era
Canonically its a green jet
Movies have it range from being a flashing green effect - HP1 flashback to as you say in GOF and OOP - green jet and blueish jet
yeahh i would love an actual sequel to HL
I find it very curious that
The headmaster is from the Black family; there was a teacher who is part of the Weasley family.
And the excuse given for not implementing quidditch was that there was an injury XD
Our beloved headmaster was just worried about students safety. I mean the injury is not looking goodš„¹
Fr
At least they though about that
I actually never read the field guide page's i was too driven to do my quests even tho i am interested in the lore
Probably during tom riddle Era mostly
I'm hoping it's our sixth year
Who's the next headmaster after black
It would be good to play as isadora to find out more truths about her and y she turned into like this
Because I would like to know how did she learn to harness power from negative emotions
@indigo holly sixth year don't make sense we defeated rangok and rok wood what else needed only we can roam
They could come up with another story?????
That's like asking why there was a second Harry Potter book when Harry already found the Philosopher's Stone
How about omnious back story
That would be interesting
What happened to him y he fears his family so much
Because they're pureblood supremacists and Dark Arts enthusiasts????? That was pretty clear in the game
Isodora back story
Because We only got very little information about it
From pensive
@indigo holly
Okay??
What do you want from me
Just a theory saying
You're just saying an idea, it doesn't really require a response from me
I mean yeah it would be interesting to learn more about Isidora and why her portrait was destroyed, and what the connection is between her and the Gaunts since they knew about the Undercroft but she clearly built it
Wait she had connection with gaunts when did I Miss that
Dam I missed it while playing
Ominis knew about the Undercroft and learned about it from someone in his family, but Isidora's triptych was in there
Isadora is is the first person to use emotions as source of power no one else could offcourse rangok but he needs the hand armors to contain it
And we still have tom riddle Era, Harry Potter ancestors erra
You act like thereās not a whole world of dark wizards and witches though before there was Voldemort there was grindelwald so I mean the next big bad has to pop out of somewhere my money is on Sebastian as dark lord :D
We would need a time skip though Iām not sure what the plot would be I just want to play hogwarts legacy 2
Without Harry Potter in it leave him alone
Isadora back story is good how she became obsessed with this magic fuled by negative emotions
Sebastian becoming next dark lord would be flee as great clishƩ.
First, he is not much smart and doesn't understand consequences of his actions, which is pretty unsuitable for dark lord. Voldemort and Grindewald were both not only powerful, but charismatic and tactical. Sebastian has charisma, nothing about it, but is not much tactical. He himself is pretty stupid, he just nicely manipulates others to do/help him to get the things done.
Second, it doesn't suit his reasons. He did everything to help Anne... Now she doesn't want to even see him. How would becoming dark lord help?
Third. I wouldn't be focused on Sebastian's story that much anymore. There is much greater potential to explore thanks to the characters we already have. Potential to explore more about characters connected to Harry Potter, Voldemort etc. themselves.
Awwwr naaawwwrrr!
<@&755190193367023772>
thanks!
The story of the next game could easily focus around the repository, which the protagonist is now the sole keeper of. Either we might have to protect it(light), or use it (dark). Thats what "Hogwarts legacy" refers to, after all. As Rackham directly stated: "We leave Hogwarts legacy to you."
And since thats what the legacy is, the game wouldn't even have to take place in Hogwarts.
Let us finish our N.E.W.Ts and become an auror. Then we would have to make choices during our duties whether to do what Isidora dreamed: 'heal' the world. Use the forbidden magic, or not.
Or perhaps, have the second game be about Auror training. Its said to be really hard, but afaik its not been described in detail anywhere.
hey, how does love potion actually works in HP? Is it you fell in love with the first person you see, or the one give some hair into it or what?
It's like Polyjuice, you need to supply hair (or other material) belonging to the person that you want the drinker to 'fall in love' with
Love potions are uncomfortable like the imperius curse and
does much the same to the victim as a love potion by removing a person's will.
Indeed.
I defeated acromantula for the first time today
and then one more
I have a huge arachnophobia and i was so sure that I won't make that side quest
but I decided to face and defeat my fear
good goin
i forced my way through the spiders in the game aswell.
but damn i got jumpscared by the acromantula
Or Avada kedavra?
obviously bro
im talking about those who are around level 20-25
i defeated it when i was level 19 ig so i didnt have any unforgivable spells to use
I just finished the Haunted Hogsmeade quest and saw some interesting portraits Iāve never seen before in game. Iāve only seen on Tumblr user post about this so I feel like it needs more attentionā-some interesting portraits
the boy on the right looks like Ominis and that might be one of his brothers
never caught eye of it b4! thatās a really interesting detail : 0
??? Where are those
