Well yeah they use English when communicating with English speaking wizards
They would most likely use their native tongue in private
def are i ate w that pic
Interesting
When does the school year end if it starts in September?
July, when the summer holidays begin.
They end on September 1st, which is when the next school year starts
That means they get 3 months of holidays until they come back for the next year.
2 months. July and august.
It starts again on September 1st
Right
For students like harry , they don't have a home. Is there an option for those students to stay back in the school if they wanted to for these 2 months
No there isn’t. They have to go home to whoever their guardians are if they don’t have parents.
They can stay at Hogwarts for the Christmas Holidays though. But there’s nothing like that available for the Summer Holidays
Does Neville has a guardian to go back ? He doesn't have a home to go either
He lives with his grandmother iirc
I didn't know that
How could y’all forget Augusta Longbottom
even in the films he mentions his Gran when he convinces Ron to open the Howler. "I had one from my Gran once: It was horrible!"
And then Lupin convinces Neville to turn Boggart Snape into wearing his grandmother's clothes. Augusta is mentioned at minimum twice in the films and appears twice in the books with mentions in every book
no, that was actually a plot point for Tom Riddle in Chamber of Secrets
Summer holidays? Is like boarding schools here. You can only stay during the school year. So interterm breaks you can choose to stay at school. But end of year you go back home or whatever your non school life is like. Inter school breaks being two to three weeks. End of year break being 9-12 weeks.
Jk was like Roald Dahl in that bases Hogwarts off of private boarding school in London to make concepts easier.
I’m curious bout the lore surrounding goblins. So many haters on Twitter. I wonder how it’s gonna play out. And whose sides we can be on…?!
The fact that everyone keeps saying Goblins are slaves tells me all I need to know about where I should place their opinions
Yeah , I thought he was close to his grandmother . They didn't mention that he lived with her
They probably don't know the difference between goblins and elves
Lol
I do feel bad for the elves. But their magics based on the household they serve. Without a house they loose their magic. Without magic. They die. …
Explained by dobby about winky to Harry. Lol.
What would happen if wizards gave goblins right to use a wand???
It really isn't. And they really don't.
So then explain me lore. And how “house” elves work then.
As opposed to Legolas elves.
I would love to know where you take your information from.
There is no evidence for any of your claims in canon.
Huh. So I’m basing it off of the pure blood teachings. Interesting.

So then if elves are stronger magically than humans why on earth would they bind themselves to wizards? If o wrote it like that I’d have elvish rebellions more often than goblin ones anytime.
We don't know the limits of elven magic. From what we do know, they are proficient at certain types of magic; charms, apparition, some rudimentary form of duelling etc.
To be honest, I don't like the whole holier than thou rethoric Hermione went after.
We know next to nothing about their history, and Hermione basically projects our muggle understanding of master/slave hierarchy on these beings.
And with the backslash, JKR just abandoned the world building and did whatever she does to make her story appear more relevant and inclusive when it really wasn't.
Yeh. World building is important.
Especially in fantasy.
I think magic in HP is like the force.
As quigon jinn explained in phantom menace film.
I recall Dobby saying that many elves were treated horribly before Voldemort fell. As for the elves liking being enslaved, it is possible that Hermione is right about them having effectively been brainwashed. It happens to humans all the time. That said, my first conclusion when initially reading the books was that them feeling that way was a part of the magic...We really don't know for sure.
Still sounds daft that a whole species would choose subservience. As opposed to mutual symbiosis due to magic.
🤷🏻♂️
Or it could just be a bad case of Stockholm syndrome spanning generations. …
And her ions was right in her holier than thou approach just not very tactful.
Good point.
But
So poinent
Hmm. Yeh.
It's important to note that Dobby actually HAD to be freed. He couldn't just choose to be free. The situation could easily be more complex than we know.
Amd that is something I’d like to delve deeper into. We’re playing a game set at the most recent goblin rebellion. I wonder if we can learn the differences between the two sides and have a pivotal choices matter moment where we choose to side with the goblins.
I'm always eager to learn more about franchises I like. 🙂
The headmaster being Phineas is kinda cool.
Hey, so which professor are housemaster? At the moment we only know about Slytherin house master who teaches charms the purple guy , and Hopefully Matilda Weasley as Gryffindor housemaster? Anyone has ideas about ravenclaw and HufflePuff housemasters?
Bruh , Dobby doesn't have a house. He is a free elf. Neither did he lose his magic , neither did he die.
Helena Ravenclaw is hot
Bruh
The Bloody Baron thought so too.
Didn’t get him very far in the end
true
Dumbledore
Was Dumbledore ever Deputy Headmaster?
Dunno. He was transfiguration teacher or head while dippet was in charge.
Also, Defense against the dark arts, like we've seen in FB2.
Seems he was DADA before he became Transfiguration Professor
He was removed in FB2
Presumably he was given it back after but at some point after switched to transfiguration
or he did both
Did James really make the marauders map?
He was one of the creators
If he was the sole creator, it would be called the James Potter map. As we know, wizards aren't the most inventive bunch when it comes to naming stuff.

As case in point messes mooney padfoot wormtail and prongs are proud to present. ….
Gotta love the board of directors skimping by saving money on hiring living teachers. Explains so much why binns is history teacher as a ghost instead of say bathilda bagshot writer of Hogwarts a mystery, and writer of other school required history of magic texts.
Same goes with proff grumbly plank or Hagrid being beasts proff instead of Scamander.
If you remember in the third movie when they show the map for the first time, it says 'Messrs. Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs', the movie doesn't really explain who they all are directly.
But you definitely learn who Wormtail is which should make it a bit easier, I don't know if they every specifically stated who all of them are in the movies, but they definitely refer to Sirius as 'Padfoot' in the 5th one. 'Moony' would be Remus, and that would only leave James from their friend group as 'Prongs'. So yeah, he did really make it, but the movies kind of leave a lot of that backstory out.
jus cause its not explicit doesn't mean its not there.
That's why I specified 'directly'
I don't think Newt would have taken a permanent job there. That would keep him away from traveling the globe to study and help magic beasts
He's clearly more comfortable around beasts than he is people as well.
Well according to FB, he's somehow always present when shite gets down. So, idk - he wasn't really doing much in the traveling department and going after FB..

We dunno what he was doing in general after FB. He presumably settled down with hs future wife Tina and continued his studies and care of beasts at the same time.
Guy wouldn't have time or interest in teaching at Hogwarts i think anyway
What does "you can now wear the Marauders map" mean . Is this a merch
What do you guys think the evloution of hogwarts will look like
Between becoming unregistered animagi and creating powerful magical objects it’s a wonder they got any actual schoolwork done tbh
I’m really hoping he’ll be a fellow classmate. He probs started as a student in the 1890’s
1892, so 2 years after the events of HL start.
But given we start as a 5th year will there be overlap? 🙂
All the comments that have been made and the information we've been given suggests that HL will take place during the 90/91 school year exclusively. But we don't have 100% confirmation
We can't overlap with AD's first year unless we actually go up to 7th year
So far there's no indication of that
Ahhh true. But thank you! Sorry I’m new here! 🙇🏽♀️
All evidence says the game takes place over one year
Ahh thank you though!!
No worries, it's always good to ask questions and be curious. And welcome
I wonder what is corrupting local wildlife in the game. Like is it the ancient magic turned corrupt or just the goblins dark wizards doing it
Thank you!!
Cos I don't WW verse has a thing were dark magic permeats a place and acts like a sentient entity or tries to actively spread from an origin point outwards like we see in other fiction
Like SW etc
Yeah it was like a scarf or something. The description just caught my eye
i think it has something to do with the ancient magic, because it's dangerous, i think that is written somewhere but i don't remember now xDD
like it's something dangerous and you're the one who can control it i think
I just recall one trailer saying a dark force had taken hold of the beasts in the land
So maybe someone has corrupted the ancient magic
or used a curse to control the beasts
I just don't think WW canon has anything like dark magic miasma or force that lingers around in places and spreads if breaks containment like Darkness in KH or Dark Side in SW
or Chaos in FF 13 lore or Starscourge in FF15
No it was like 1891-1892
Somewhere around there
I was really hoping to see him it but it might be for the best 😢
Was it ever explained why Hagrid was able to bend a shotgun
Hagrid was part giant
He's really strong
So he's just that strong. Figured was something like that but rewatching last night got me thinking about it
Yah simply just that strong
Half-giant et all
I'm sure humans with sufficient strength can do it to
In real life that exchange would be impossible of course. Vernon wouldn't be able to master up the strength to hold on to the gun while its being bend.
Physics and all that.
Excuse me? PHYSICS? Are you a MUGGLE?

I’m just starting to the books for once. Like my first time and finding out Hagrid got expelled during his third year was it? And actually had a wand and was part of the other students. Found that interesting, always just thought he was hired to be keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts.
There is so much info in the books that you don't learn in the movies 🙂
I know and based on the fact the devs took every detail in game was from the books. Which is why I’m reading them now.
Is this game lore canon in the books? Or movie i think it will be completely new
It’s non canon no
It’s just sticking to the established canon and lore as much as possible. But it’s not canon itself to the actual canon franchise
I was hoping this
Bathilda is wrong about a lot of her writing though (based on actual history not Rowling's stuff)
such as?
Yeh. My point was more when prof grublyplank retired instead of hiring a new teacher. Just hired Hagrid who is already staff as keeper of keys n grounds and also game keeper so effectively giving 1 man three job positions by tacking on beasts teacher on top of other duties.
Instead of hiring someone with a mastery in the field like macgonagall or snape or filius are.
And hiring someone who can’t perform magic legally is also a bit dubious and no wonder that this happens.
Granted malfoy was being a prat. If Hagrid could perform magic could have used a shield charm to protect a student and thus buckbeak wouldn’t be facing death row.
He can perform magic legally by time he’s a professor. He just hasn’t been taught much. He got acquitted after the second book.
It does seem wrong to stack up his jobs though!
His wand was snapped when he was expelled from Hogwarts.
🫤
For endangering students.
He was expelled for “opening the chamber of secrets”… when it was proven Tom Riddle did that, Hagrid was acquitted.
Yes his wand was snapped in half. But basically when he did magic in book 1 it was against the rules… later it wasn’t.
Note he used aquamenti to try to put out the fire on his hut
He could have bought a new wand, and probably even gone back to school/tutor if he wanted to.
Ollivander told him to not use his umbrella for casting magic.
When Hagrid admitted to keeping the shards.
And. He’s undertrained. Has no mastery in subject he teaches.
And cannot protect students from the creatures he breeds.
Also half of the creatures in the book blast ended screwts Hagrid cross bred.
Which is illegal in that time period.
Arthur Weasley: "What’ve you got there, Bob?"
Bob: "We thought it was a bog-standard chicken until it started breathing fire. Looks like a serious breach of the Ban on Experimental Breeding to me.
Which he could have got permission to breed as teaching aid but I doubt it.
I think it’s more likely he was doing it poorly until the tournament and because of their dangerous classification by the ministers they allowed them retroactively to be used in the third task.
Yep that’s definitely true
Guys does anyone know dobbys extended history? I wanna know if it’s possible for a young dobby to show up in the kitchens in HL
Elves are typically born into the house that they serve. So Dobby most likely served the Malfoy's for his entire life until being freed. In the books Dobby was employed in the Hogwarts kitchens after gaining freedom and acted as if he had never been in the environment before then. It's safe to assume before that point he had only been in the Malfoy Household.
How long does elves live?
200 years typically
If young dobby were a thing we’d need to be in slytherin and befriend a malfoy.
Caesonia Malfoy, Brutus Malfoy and Septimus Malfoy would be the only chances to be at the school at this time
You do realise those people aren't canon right?
is snakewood a rare wand? and can u obtain one in the app>
It seems rare yes, but no it isn't in the quiz
I don't remember that wood on the official website
It might be some random wood used but isn't in Ollivander's notes
Salazar Slytherin's wand was snakewood. The only one we know of
well i have it from the newest fantastic beast movie, as newt gave it to jacob so i was wondering, turns out salazar's wand was also snakewood
and as a full slytherin i gotta have one lol
There are a lot of other great woods though, although the core seems to be more important than the wood
Although I'm curious what snakewood would represent
Brutus and Septimus are. Brutus Malfoy lived in 17th century and Septimus Malfoy lived in 18th century. They are ancestors to Malfoy family, but imo unlikely to appear in HL as it takes place in 1890's
But Ceasonia isn't canon
My bad lol (haven't looked into the Malfoy family as much as the Black's). 17th century, ie 1600's, seems a little early for a story set in 1890 though. Not impossible but unlikely
Yep
wait does this mean there is a chance we will be going to school with Albus Dumbledore (1892-1899) since Phineas Nigellus Black was Dumbledore's headmaster
Please god no
I can't stand Dumbledore and would seriously quit playing the game if they did
Dumbledore would only start Hogwarts in our 7th year
I mean. Maybe? If they make 3 games with save files that can be ported over a la mass effect but I really don’t see this happening
They want to distance themselves from Harry Potter
Hey I had a quick lore question regarding dark arts a forbidden curses. Do they effect the user? I know to use crucio correctly you have to actually want to cause agonizing, or to use the killing curse you have to have lethal intent but does the use of these curses effect the user at all?
If you mean like using the DS of the Force then no
If you make Horcruxes than yes
Otherwise using dark magic is not going to make you look old and decrepit
Okay thank you.
What if kids with idk autism or smth got enrolled at Hogwarts. Would they fit in? lol
I know for a fact that i wouldn't
There is nothing in lore that says this, especially as there is no actual logic behind how spells are classified.
I think it was just Horcruxes specifically that were told to have physical effects
"It's hinted at that at least mudering someone does have an impact on your soul." That's what I've said.
your soul is not your physical appearance, once your soul is ripped in half its still in you, and only once it leaves and enters a new object does the physical effects begin to form, numerous death eaters have used the killing curse and none of them made horcruxes so its pretty clear that even though their souls were torn but the soul pieces didn't leave the body they weren't deformed by the magic, hope that clears it up for ya
||snape used the same curse to kill AD and yes it ripped his soul in half upon doing so, but his nose was still long and hooked a year later when the final battle started, proof that ripping your soul doesn't disfigure you physically only by using that piece to make a horcrux will do that||
I'm consufed to why you've written this paragraph, also a source is needed for whatever you've written here.
read the spoiler i used an exact example from book 6 and 7
Also, reread what I've written and then reread what you've written. Look at the 'at least' in my previous comment.
I did not associate appearance and soul in any shape or form?
That's what you did.
oh yeah so your trying to say you werent refering to the ongoing conversation on the subject? ok gaslight me some more pal
AK doesn’t have any physical effects tho, which this convo was about
And which son of gryffic has highlighted
thank you good sir
also love that spelling of griffic i might actually use it if thats ok?
Haha of course
"It's hinted at that at least mudering someone does have an impact on your soul." That's what I've said. That was my contribution to the conversation - nothing more and nothing less. I did not equate it to appearance in any shape or form. The ongoing discussion has nothing to do with it. You made the connection between appearance and soul.
no the conversation was if AK or making horcruxes disfigured the magic user, your the one trying to gaslight us but ok bud if you wanna keep trying i'll let you believe but im not gonna live your delusion with you
And this has nothing to do with gaslighting. lol - I'm stating facts.
clearly trying to say you weren't inputting on a conversation you were is textbook gaslighting my friend, but again i will let you believe what you want, but i won't sit here and say you aren't doing something your very obviously doing
here he comes to gaslight me some more writting me a story over ther bud?
Calling a dog's tail leg, doesn't make it a leg, mate.
that analogy isnt even good cause your trying to say cause we were talking about all the paws and you were only talking about his hind paws you werent trying to talk about his paws, you never mentioned the tail at all, thats why your little saying makes no sense is just another way to try and gaslight me
also I've stated more facts is that why your trying to say you weren't in the conversation? gotta try gaslighting whenever someone more knowledgeable comes into the room?
funny he wanted to argue at first thats why he told me to prove it, but once i pointed out i had already used an example suddenly it was "thats not what i was talking about" "your taking what i said and adding it into to the conversation i was joining in on thats on you" "the ongoing discussion (i was adding to) had nothing to do with it" hmmmmmmm gaslight much? feel bad for all his ex's their still trying to figure out what he said if what they heard wasn't it
My impression has always been that, while AK was not good for you, using it to make a horcrux involved "something more" which really tore your soul into pieces
Even if the "something more" was just "the only reason I'm killing you is to selfishly prolong my own life"
what lore means?
i always figured you can't just kill anyone to rip your soul apart, maybe the first time and just maybe the act of taking another life is good enough but to multiply the rips in the soul the killings need to mean something more personal, which is why i feel my example of snape was the best example i could use, because he truly cared for AD and so when he killed him it tore him apart inside (hince the soul tearing) but that was just my understanding behind the extra that some believe is needed besides just using the curse
Is it stated somewhere that his soul was torn? I can't remember
What do you mean by something more?
It's left unclear. Some sort of ritual or something, maybe.
You don't need AK to create a Horcrux, or are you talking about creating a Horcrux specifically with AK?
So here's my understanding:
1.) You don't need AK to create a horcrux, but you do need to murder someone.
2.) Murdering someone itself isn't enough to split your soul. I don't think every time a death eater killed someone with AK in a fight, it split their soul, or, e.g., when Voldemort killed Harry's parents or any of the many others he killed. Otherwise, his soul would have been a LOT more fragmented than it was.
3.) To create a horcrux, you do need to do something after the requisite murder, in order to put the split part of your soul in the artifact.
4.) It's not clear to me whether the murder with the intent to create a horcrux, or the subsequent act, whatever that is, is what actually splits your soul.
That's the question if it does damage to your soul each and every time murder is comitted. From the little interactions we've had we do know that it does some damage to your soul some way or another. Throughout the series there are numerous hints and plot points that somewhat deal with the soul part, albeit not in a satisfactory manner.
I've always wondered if Molly's soul was also damaged when she comitted murder, killing Bellatrix - we don't know, it might/it may not.
Then there is Voldemort telling Snape that he himself will know whether the act will damage his soul or not - creating the question - is intent involved, does intent matter?
It's anyone's guess really. lol
Yeah I agree there's some effect from every murder. For example, Dumbledore begged Draco not to kill him, for Draco's own sake.
But I don't think it's as large an effect as@making a horcrux
As for Molly, I think that, again, killing someone in a protective capacity, or for justice, again would do less damage at least than killing someone for selfish or evil reasons
Meh, I've always had a problem with the good/Evil rethoric the books are clearly going for, children's book and all that. It's always a matter of prespective. If I am convinced that hurling AK left and right is just, then I won't have to fear any repercussions despite it being not "good".
But I do agree that there probably is some ancient ritual involved to create a Horcrux or some magic or idk, I at least hope there is for JKR world building's case. lmao
All Jk said was you kil someone, prepare the object for the soul fragment and do a horrific act
and then say the incantation
whatever those are
Were there any negative things from dumbledore?
dumbledore made a lot of mistakes in his life
sacrificed ppl to achieve his own goals
arrogant in his youth
flaws
And he spent his whole life trying to make amends for his younger self
yea
honestly even as headmaster he still made mistakes
although i don't get all the hate against dumbledore
Apparently he can't be a flawed person
like real people are
He's got to be this mastermind who planned absolutely everything
and everything went as he planned somehow
or he's made out to be worse than he is
lol honestly he's human
just bcuz he's wizard doesn't mean he's not flawed
i mean even tolkien's characters were flawed as great as they were
it's just natural part of life
i guess some ppl can't accept that
bcuz 'it's fictional'
hmm
I hate dungindorf 😡 😠
Off topic but the guy with the surname Osric in this game, funny that in Stargate SG-1 season 10 there's a guy called Osric ||who has a map and parchment left by Morgana le Fay which leads to the place were Merlin is in stasis.||
I mean, she was somewhat lucky that it worked out in the end and she could explain stuff away in later books. But it just doesn't make sense for him to have had a master plan, or rather - it makes no sense with how little foreshadowing she did.
That seems like solid theory territory… how interesting!
Do yall think Phineas can possibly be a worse headmaster than Umbridge??
Bruh, she just declared herself Headmistress of Hogwarts.
LMAO
McGonagall would've realistically became headmistress
He looks like he doesn't care about rules whatsoever. Umbrigde is all about rules. They are not the same.
She does
|| She did when Snape died ||
^spoiler for who died
ik but I'm talking about after dumbledore left the school
To the best of my knowledge, Phineas never tortured students
Just funny that we have a guy with the same name for surname and he's involved in a plot revolving around Merlin and maybe Morgana
Given he avoids the students and does as little as possible, no. He probably doesn't torture students either though I do note hanging in the dungeon is a punishment for students so that would be torture anyway
even if he's not personally overseeing or engaging in it
I don't think so. Umbridge wanted to control everything, Nigellus only seem to not care at all, so if he's just there for the position and doing nothing it's better than doing all the things Umbridge did
On Molly - I feel self-defense isn't the same act as murder (went to college for philosophy!). The act of killing for self-defense is still not good for one's soul, but not as grave as Voldy-style murder
I'm not sure you can call Molly's killing of Bellatrix "self-defense", quite. Didn't she jump into an ongoing duel between Bellatrix and several other, and take it over? Or am I just remembering what happened in the movie.
It was certainly just, but maybe not self-defense, if my memory of it is accurate.
I also have the movie scene most fresh. I felt she was protecting her daughter... but yeah maybe it's not self defense
I'm in the process of a re-read, probably a couple of hours from that scene, so I'll let you know 🙂
bella is trying to kill her and her kids. I think she can claim self-defense.
Actually by just war theory, defense of one's loved ones is self defense (or really close to it). The second wizarding war is a just war as far as I know. So in most cases, if that's really your ***only ***option it's not murder
Wouldn't apply to snape and dumbledore though
Like if someone is intending to kill you even if they haven't yet, i think you have a pre-immenent right to self-defense. No muggle court is gonna try argue about use of reasonable force or not in this case i think
not sure how a muggle law would call that if they knew all the details
like there's mitigating factors in there. he's dying anyway and will die soon regardless and horrbily at that
Still even if its not murder please do not kill any human beings folks
so the quick death is far more merciful
I doubt anyone here plans to
I know I would have done the same thing if my friends and family were in danger of being killed by someone
For legal purposes haha
There are some people who don't believe in killing for self-defense / just war and killing is always wrong so that's an option too (I'm by far not an expert in this area)
And also bc I'm a hufflepuff haha
Yeah not saying killing is right or anything bc its by any means not, but by the end of the day if their not really giving me a choice I'm of course gonna choose the ones I care about over the one trying to kill them lol
And my overall worldview, which imo most of our hp heroes share, I believe everyone can change (and should be given the opportunity to) even if they're threatening my life, so it's really a LAST resort if it'd be one at all
I think Bellatrix was already to far gone
Azkaban always got spots lol
The place she willingly went and ppl have broken out of lol
True tho
I think giving her another chance would just sealed more ppl fate to death
So to me the many outweigh the few, by killing her she saved more lives
Maybe if she had a child or some massive life change (but I don't take Cursed Child as canon)
No but I still think your faith in her changing is misplaced lol
She was far far to gone to be given another chance to do better
And I'd rather her be taken out than to be let loose again and just kill possibly hundreds of more ppl
Some people are just too far gone or too dangerous
LV and Bella are among them
Fenrir
Umbridge
Ill think about it
is it even killing if its defending yourself in a war (the battle of Hogwarts was technically a war)
By just war theory it's killing but not murder
Exactly. So it can't be considered murder
In any case yes, and it was likely self-defense in Bellatrix's case anyway
Also disclaimer that I haven't studied Just War Theory in years and I might be mixing up its content (as well as law & philo/ethics)
But I appreciate y'all helping mixing up philo with this beloved series
can you claim self defence if you're participating in a war?
A war is a war
People die in wars soooo 🤷🏼♂️
The killing of non combatants is a war crime though. That said the largest casualties always seem to be non combatants
But Bellatrix wasn‘t unarmed
neither were the students who willingly participated in the war
if they ran away, and were pursued outside of the battle, then that's one aggressor and one non combatant
Was Harry killing Voldemort for good murder ?
Self defence, completely justified
I think if two parties partake in a duel, and one dies, the winner is not a murderer, but simply the victor of battle
Self defense and Voldemort killed himself tbh
True
I think the kill was justified, but I dont think it's self-defence
justification always depends on the perspective you are having
In war or in a duel, both parties agree to kill or be killed
thats what i mean by "justified"
partly untrue, when you participate in a sword duel and you win against your opponent, killing them, its still considered a murder even when the killed agrees to get killed
thats true, thought you meant that in a more subjective way :p
I suppose similar to how in most countries assisting suicide is still seen as murder
oh, yeah, mb actually, im talking about german law, assisted suicide is illegal here
then ill change my stance to while it can be considered murder, the kill remains justified (for lack of a better term) as both parties accept the possibility of death when entering war or a duel
i can definitely support that sir (:
If you didn't initiate war, yes. There's like a list of requirements for just war (this is basic philo but it's also inscribed in international law)
Duels are technically not considered just wars, so it would not be justified by these standards
imagine there is a abe no seimei in the harry potter series what do you guys think
This^^
I mean he no doubt exists, whether he's a wizard or not is another matter
I don't know much about his history or myth tbh
I didn't retain any of the info i think since i last read up on him
ok thanks for the help
I mean he's not mentioned anywhere
but we can assume he existed cos he is an historical person
We can assume he was good at astrology and divination i think at least
Voldemort cast the killing curse. Harry cast a spell to defend himself from the killing curse, the spell was harmless and could do nothing other than disarm Voldemort. After Harry won the clash Voldemort's spell rebounded on himself, so it wasn't even self-defense it was just Voldemort killing himself.
Suicide with extra steps. he did that twice
It was death by ricochet.
Accidental lol
still none of these characters just wipped out an uzi
But movie Harry running at Professor Quirrel and killing him was probably murder
Can I put some spoilers with tag here?
Accidental manslaughter may be ruled there since he may not have known he'd die from being touched in the face and his life was being threatened and quirrel made a move toward him first so self-defense would probably win out
Or the stone which he will use to revive a dark lord who is going to then try to kill him later and quirrell already tried to kill him several times and admitted it and tried to there beforehand aswell
I think if the movie footage was RL footage and a sane judge/jury was residing in court as evidence, they wil drop any charges or not be jailing HP and not ruling it as murder
Same in the book were HP was actually out cold when he died so is not guilty of anything in that case
|| - before and after ur comment
i don't know what that means
ah
U got it
in the books harry passed out before quirrel died I think
Quirrel ran towards Harry and while Harry put his hands in front of him to protect himself from any incoming attacks he passed out and his hands disintegrated Quirrel's face. (At least from what I can remember)
Didn't he see how he disintegrated his hand
Also, he knew it would kill him since he ran at him with his hands opened after he found out he was able to disintegrate his hand from touching him
In the very first moments of the story, we see Voldemort tried to kill Harry, but fails. I'm not 100% clear with the details, but a defenseless baby survives this hit, and Voldemort accidentally sabotages his own plans by ||unknowingly turning Harry into a Horcrux ||
That is an example of "he did it to himself". Intentional energy bouncing off a passive force and being returned to sender.
In the case of the duel,
Both parties at this time have come to the conclusion that one of them has to die. Both come to battle with the intention of killing their opponent. So while Harry does use a self-defense spell, that action doesn't hide his original intention.
It's the same as blocking or parrying a blow in a duel. Not self-defence but a strategic choice in battle.
And we have seen spells be redirected in other directions, but Harry made a choice, instead of being a passive force, to intentionally send the spell back.
Harry killed Voledmort through a combination of luck and skill, but not self-defence.
Harry couldn't deflect the attack because it was an unforgivable curse, he had to cast a spell to create Priori Incantatem or else he would have died. How did he know that the spell would have rebounded? His intention with the spell he cast was to disarm Voldemort from the elder wand.
Regardless his life was at stake, he has no means of escaping due to the wall of fire behind him so self-defense imo.
No sane judge/jury is going to convict him of murder i think in this case if they saw all that footage
So then Harry's intention was to disarm, while Voldemort's was to kill. While a noble intention, Harry was aware of their prophecy, and would eventually be strongarmed into killing Voldemort one way or another after he overcame his naivety. So this point can defend the arguement of Self-defence by Harry's blind innocence, and desire to make the right choice.
Harry didn't cast some defense charm, but instead an offensive spell, with the intention of disarming. Whether or not he knew then what would happen next, he remains responsible for Voldemort's death. Swinging a blade with the intention of maiming, but then accidentally killing the opponent is still killing the opponent.
Hmmm, self-defence, for sure.
I agree that even if Voldemort's spell did not get rebounded and instead he got disarmed they would be left with no choice but to kill him because of the prophecy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when the clash that killed Voldemort happened, Harry had to cast a spell to create priori incantatem. He couldn't cast a defensive spell like protego because the killing curse can cut through any protection spell, and Harry knew that. So in that exact moment, it was self-defence, but what would have happened later if Voldemort didn't die wouldn't have been. However, I'm not sure if Harry could have done it or not. He wasn't able to kill Sirius when he wanted to and did not allow Sirius or Remus to hurt Peter, even though he knew that Pettigrew was the reason his parents are dead. So in my conclusion, Harry unintentionally killed Voldemort in self-defence at that moment, but we don't know what would have happened after if Voldemort hadn't died from his own killing curse and got disarmed instead.
No my last arguement was agreeing with the priori incantantem
Ultimately no sane jury/judge will convict HP of murder in the case of Quirrell or LV
it "Justified murder" lol
Would you have ran savagely and wrapped your hands around his face knowing that you were killing him that way? I kind of agree that it was self-defence but the books did the self-defence part more realistically than the movies.
I mean if someone is tryna kill me and I have no means of escape and no means to knock him out or subdue him, and given no choice, then I will do what i must to save my own life.
And HP was a child.
He has no means to knock out Quirrel or escape.
Actually were was his wand?
HPs
It wouldn't help him but were was it?
nooo self defense
Funny thing is that he didn't use his wand the entire book
A sane judge/jury will see it as self-defense regardless of if you see it as murder or not
He probably didn't know any spell anyways. When Draco told him that he's going to fight him (I forgot which chapter it is, but it is where Draco faked a letter or smth in Book 1), Harry told Hermione and Ron that he didn't know any spells. One of them then told him to just cast whatever that comes out of his wand.
Yes, the only magic he used in the entire book was when he did all the crazy stuff at the Dursleys before getting the letter and when he talked to the snake.
Gonna have to re-read the book
I'd hope he brought his wand to the stop LV quest
Like since they didn't do a more logical thing and send an owl to AD beforehand. EDIT: They did do that actually. Ironically their actions in the chambers changed nothing minus kill Quirrell.
I would have waited till he tried striking again. Probably touch his other hand, and try to leave him defenceless until Dumbledore arrives. Dumbledore didn't arrive in the book until like a minute after Harry passed out.
Well he was a kid, terrified for his life and not thinking what course of action he should take really or weighing pros and cons of each action he could take. And Quirrel could still kill him with wandless magic.
He is acting in the heat of the moment to save his own life and stop quirrell from getting the stone.
And Quirrell could still escape without hands
potentially
Wasn't he surrounded by the flames too?
Dumbledore arrived just as Harry passed out in the books
So if it's the same case for the movies then I'm sure Harry could've handled himself (for not even half a minute)
But it is still self defence because he was defending himself from a man wanting to kill him
He just did it the wrong way in the movies
He can put out the flames with wandless magic potentially. It all depends on how quick he is i guess. Ultimately the kids actions going down to the chambers changed nothing minus quirrell dying
Exactly
so if they just stayed in their dorms
Quirrel would've never found the stone
so going down there did nothing but take quirrel's life
hmm
though i don't think anyone's crying over it since he tried to kill a kid several times
thats true
Hogwarts Legacy twitter confirmed that Fig is the “Magical Theory” teacher. Any idea what this class effectively entails?
Hey, do you think, the Imperius curse could work on some undeads? 🤔
I mean, if you have the Resurrection Stone and cast the curse on them, can you make a huge undead army of powerful wizards? D:
Never read the books, only watched the movies
"Magical Theory appeared to mainly cover the nature of how spells worked, and most likely other theoretical aspects of magic and magical laws."
That kinda sounds boring lol
if the „magical law“ covers actual law it might be interesting to see how many criminals are studying at hogwarts…
Lol
im looking at the hp being a murderer debate above
Voldemort committed manslaughter on himself
might even call it neglient manslaughter
How very irresponsible of him.
he really should have thought through his actions smh😔
I think mean law in a scientific sense not in a legal sense
It could actually be very good to know and help one avoid certain issues that come with using advanced or complex magic
Like if LV knew more of that, he'd probably have avoided certain mistakes
Yes, swinging a blade is still killing but it's technically not murder. And as weird as it sounds, it's more of a just war than a duel
Like Jus ad Bellum (the theory on when a state can go to war, usually not initiating it) applies
In the ancient times people would send two soldiers to fight in a 1:1 war and whoever wins, their sides win, to decrease causalities. Harry didn't choose to engage in war, he was defending himself and his side. It's sort of a tiny-just-war and thus self-defense theory applies
All of that aside ... I've read essays on how it's a character thing for Harry not to use the avada kedavra. E.g. when Voldemort tried to convince him to kill Bellatrix after Sirius's death and he still refused (arguably bc of how it would impact him as a person)
So the justification for Voldemort dying (though I think we shouldn't forget that killing is always tragic) is because of self-defense not because of consent
Ahahah!
I think they meant law as in like the scientific function, not actual law. For example when you say "the laws of the universe" you don't actually mean rules you should follow in space but how the universe functions. Same thing with "the laws of magic". My explanation ain't that great.
its not jurisprudence, i know :p
already talked about it above, meant that as a joke since we had the murder debate about different characters
wondering how they are supposed to know about magical laws like not using witchcraft infront of a muggle and things like that
I still don’t understand how Arthur Weasley was so bad at understanding muggles. Literally his job 🤣
A world in which Azkaban is the norm sounds like it probably has some scary laws haha
@eager coral
<@&755190193367023772> leak ?
This was found on Amazon. The “preview” photos 😄
Hmmm
Here is the Amazon link! https://a.co/d/7q5BXw6
Well these are showing pages of the book soooo 🤷♂️
But I believe they’re just “previews” and not actual “leaks”
It's fine, it's promotion material on the page
aka official
Retroboy very sorry, i just wanted to be sure ya know
Are dragons able to talk or be sentient in this universe or are they just like wild animals
And how smart are they compared to other animals?
they cannot talk
though im sure other animals and dragons know what their roars and vocalizations mean to each other
You should delete this. Leaks are not allowed to be discussed on this server
Oh , sorry
All good, just don’t want anyone seeing it, because it does kinda spoil it for people
So not a leak. Official marketing images. Man people are sensitive
Yh i don’t look at these images anyways so i thought
Please don't make comments like that. We'd rather people told us just to be safe in these cases.
There is a theory, I think - that he wanted Harry to be good at something, that's why he didn't show off all his muggle knowledge prowess.
Alas, he also had his stupid moments, so - take that as a consistent thing across story arcs, e.g books.
Nah. They put millions of stamps on a letter and floo-powered into a gas fireplace. 🤣
Think about it. Imagine you study an alien race. But never got to meet them or go there. Then your son is best friends with an adopted human whose parents are aliens.
That's his stance. He never full met many muggles. He's always been in the wizarding world
Also at the start of the books and movies he wasn't doing great at his job. He got better over time
this is like the fifth time i see you annoying people ping mods for something stupid just stfu
Are you really gonna tell me to not report a potential leak ?
As Stranger said we'd rather people bring up potential leaks to us just to be on the safe side. So let's not dissuade anyone from pinging us if they feel it's warranted. 👍
“Yes, gamers are to blame a bit as well! CD Projekt Red was constantly saying they need more time to develop the game properly, even if they weren’t prepared to be brave enough to actually postpone the launch indefinitely until it was worthy of release.
But, impatient players just couldn’t contain themselves as they constantly pressurised the Polish studio to release the game as soon as possible. Given that most of us were stuck in lockdown due to COVID-19, it’s not surprising players were salivating for something good to sink their teeth into.
But, as a result of community impatience and some foolish optimism from CD Projekt management, we got a broken mess of a console game and a subpar PC experience. Thanks nerds, thanks a bunch.” Lmao
Thank god Hogwarts Legacy don’t listened to those annoying people crying on Twitter over the delay lmao
Thank god they delayed the game for over a year
Gamers have absolutely no influence on a games release
Ik but they fell for the gamers demands
They wanted the game nooow
Why is the guy in trailer trying to AK the owl? Was that a teacher?
no it was one of the enemies
How the f would it know a random owl is doing something of grave importance
I know its just a traielr but still
Or is in the actual game?
ak is in the game
I mean, if you were a dark wizard and/or a poacher, wouldn't you try to shoot down an owl - that could be carrying sensitive information - when it's randomly flying over your secret camp? AK does seem a little overkill for the situation though lol.
it does seem like they just wan't/like to show off that spell
I will abuse AK if it is ingame
I wonder if you could also become a death eater in game
It felt too prude to be used in game.
if you wanna know which dark art spells you can learn watch ther second gameplay showcase it shows a few in action but if you pause at the right point it shows a desription of the dark arts arena at one point and lists a few you dont see in action
i can send the official yt link if you wanna check it out
you can become a dark wizard of a kind but not a death eater since their voldemort followers and this takes place way before tom riddle is even born
Imagine a timeskip at the end of the game in a Post credit scene and we see Tom Riddle arriving at Hogwarts 😄
that would be wild! but i feel it would be more likely to see AD during his sorting cermony since its the following year or the next that he starts his first year
True True
That's neither confirmed nor even hinted at. From what we've heard we definitely won't get access to it early on - aside from the Dark Arts Battle Arena - but since we will undoubtedly be presented with the choice to learn it directly through the main story or a companion's story thread, it's very unlikely for it to be a postgame spell only.
Well I saw a video here in Germany where they said that it was stated that it won’t be accessable until after finishing the Main quest 🤷🏼♂️
They were spreading misinformation then - that sadly happens a lot.
Maybe, but I could imagine it to be true
We won’t know until the game is there
Source?
Honestly I do somewhat wish AK is a post-game spell. It is after all basically a cheat code with a slight cooldown.
The cooldown is actually pretty massive, it just didn't seem like it because of cds resetting between stages - the focus potion did seem extremely busted though, so hopefully it won't be easy to obtain/brew.
Yeah I just hope there is some compromise - that enemies can use it just as often to one-shot the PC. Also raises some questions as to how they will deal with final boss fights.
True
Reminder not to post leaks or rumors in here. Officially sourced info from Avalanche/WB only please.
I feel like not being able to use AK until postgame kind of defeats the purpose of it. I mean if we have the choice to become a dark witch/wizard than the unforgivable curses should be a guaranteed use. Of course we shouldn’t be able to use it like Voldemort did but having some sort of balance to it seems reasonable to me
NG+ my friend
AK is a powerful spell, and it shouldn't be something that one can use from the get go.
Hogwarts map
Lol
this is so nostalgic
I know, I’m lucky i still play there and not get bored
So i've got a question which is bugging me and my girlfriend.
How come there are spiders in the forbidden forest when Hagrid was the one who established the spider colony in 1943? Hogwarts legacy is set in the 1800s and is presumably canon.
Was this just a mistake by the developers? Or is there a canon explanation?
Poacher most likely. Smuggling in exotic animals and then losing them or releasing them to not get caught with such high risk contraband so they can feign innocence.
Plus any brought over by wizards long ago that were left to breed and flourish
"Hey, look! This guy is waring a skull mask and uses Avada Kedavra casually! Look! Look how evil he is! Look how evil his friends are! LOOK!!! EVIIIL!!!"
Is there 100% confirmation that he started the colony? As far as I remember, he just had Aragog. Aragog was a male spider. He would have needed a mate out in that forest to make that colony.
Wiki says Hagrid "found" a wife for Aragog, Mosag, and that's the only mention of her. So really it could be assumed he found her in the forest. Of course the spider population wouldn't be huge in 1890, but they would be present in the forest.
it would be interesting to see how they died out later to be repopulated because of aragog and mosag!
lets be honest its hagrid, he probably bought mosag from his 'fellow down the pub'
Maybe that's where our character fits in canon-wise XD
There could be other species of spiders other than the one hagrid started
The Acromantula is originated in I think south America and Aragog is the first in America if I am right. So see will for sure not see Acromantulas.
But why wouldn’t it be spiders in the forbidddn forest? You often see spiders all the time in Northern europe, all the time.
It was southeast Asia - Borneo to be more precise - but since they are allegedly wizard-bred (as per the "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" book) that doesn't really matter and Avalanche can easily get away with including them in the game.
But as pointed out above, they just as easily could have invented a new species which would be fair as well.
What gets me is how are all these animals hidden from muggles? They aren't abiding any laws of staying hidden. Imagine hoing for a hike and a 8ft spider pops out....
They are not spiders . Spiders are small in size . Even Tarantulas can be considered as spiders to some extent. But acromantulas are huge
Wards, mostly - and in the instances where they fail, you send in the Obliviators.
All of which becomes more and more difficult because of the ever-evolving technology and social media; realistically the Statute of Secrecy would be doomed to crumble in modern times.
And hippogriffs are much more difficult to control since they want respect from everyone. They can basically fly to muggle territories whenever they want
That's why owners of Hippogriffs have to cast a Disillusionment Charm on them every single day, as required by the law, and are forbidden to use them for transportation. The Hogwarts herd was/is allegedly regulated by the castle's magic and wards.
There are possiblities of wild hippogriffs which are not domesticated roaming around. What about those ?
I imagine that even wild ones have to be regulated in some ways or they would just randomly fly into muggle areas, as you said. But we don't really have much information on wild magical beasts in general.
But yeah, that's part of the reason why I said the Statute of Secrecy would be RIP in modern times - we know that a lot of accidents happen where Obliviators need to be involved and those can't be covered as easily now
Same goes for dragons too and dragons can't be tamed.
Do we know how many species of dragons exist in the wizarding world ?
Ah i see. Yeah unless they can change the magic to affect videos and images too?
Pretty cool thinking about all the laws and stuff actually. To keep stuff hidden
I don't think I mean colin had a muggle camera that he clicked photos within hogwarts so he must have clicked photos of pets and magical beasts
Yeah but if a person gets a video of a hippogriff then the ministry gets notified and they cast a spell to alter the video and the persons memory
Colin's camera worked because JKR needed/wanted it to - it technically shouldn't have. She basically explained it by saying that the camera could still function by running off the magical atmosphere instead of its batteries and thus it worked similarly to the ones used by wizardkind.
It's all very obscure. The plus side is that you can "explain away" a lot of things that don't really make sense within the world and its established rules.
And how is that ? You are saying there are trackers on cameras ?
And what Colin used was a vintage camera and it only takes photos . There is no way in hell that the ministry can track what photos were taken
They can track people under 17 using magic at all so surely they can track magic beasts acting up
Ah, I overlooked that question. 10 different known dragon breeds as per Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and 2 more if you include Dragon Breeding for Pleasure and Profit.
Images and videos would get propagated too quickly via wi-fi
and the real images and vids would remain on severs around the world.
WW maintaining secery is impossible in modern era if a large enough breach happens and the images and vids are spread around quick enough.
It's magic. It would change the original and all others
They have to find the originals
and they images and vids are uploaded to servers elsehwere
too late
its wifi
its fast at uploading and spreading data
good luck with that wizards
Magic is faster
A lot of older film cameras only needed batteries for the light meter to judge exposure; the inner workings of the cameras were mostly mechanical. Wouldn’t explain away the light flash in the films but hey ho!
i have an interesting question
did James Potter have any relatives? and if so What if Harry was adopted by one of them?
but at the same time Dumbledore said Petunia aka the Dursley Family was the only ones he had left
and also he said he didnt want Harry growing up in the Magic world untill he was ready as well
It needed to be a relation of Lilly no?
If you bond of blood charm yes
Question to the lore buffs:
Were there any spells that were invented after the time that the game is set in?
Sectumsempra
Thanks! There's a lot I don't know about spells in this universe. Always eager to learn.
I assume there must be more but I don’t know off the top of my head
The harry potter wiki is always a good place to look for info though
It's an awful dilemma to want to learn, but not learn too much at the same time. I'm going in half-blind. 😄
Or you can wait till the game comes out and you can learn with the game. You will remember what each spell does because you will use them in combat
Yeah that's the reasonable way to go.
I'm just too curious what kinds of magic are and aren't available, or discovered in this universe! Will definitely dive deep into it after playing the game.
If I could choose anything I'd specialize in and research defensive magic (shielding, negating, etc.) and temporal magic.
What is research defensive and temporal magic. I have never heard of them
Oh defensive magic, in my mind, just focuses on negating, dodging, blocking or reflecting an attacker's spells.
Temporal magic is also called chrono-magic sometimes, it relates to manipulation of time. An example would be freezing time in a place, or suspending someone from time momentarily, so they can't move.
With research I just wanted to say I'd love to not just specialize in these fields, but also be a scientist of sorts, and research new spells as well as how the magic works! 😄
Also: most of the uses of dragon blood
That was to this question
So I have a question about the end of the second film "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets".
At the end there is this scene where Lucius Malfoy gets his house-elf stolen by Harry Potter and gets a bit "angry".
I noticed that he obviously wanted to kill Potter with the Avada Kedavra killing curse at that moment.
My question is: why did he want to kill Potter at that moment? I mean, wasn't that totally counterproductive?
I'm currently re-watching the films to prepare myself for the game, and I've never been a big fan of the Harry Potter series.
apparently the actor in the movie was told to use a spell, and the only spell he knew off hand was the killing curse so he tries to off harry
i would need to doublecheck to be sure though
He can't just kill a 12 year old boy in school with a forbidden curse.
Okay, I watched a few other videos on this topic and saw that your right with him only knowing one spell.
But it makes no sense, maybe it is different in the books and makes more sense.
I told Chatgtp to write the Harry Potter series in a Shakespearean style and this is what it came up with
Act I, Scene I: The boy who lived
Upon the morn of the boy's birth,
A prophecy didst ring forth
That He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named
Would meet his match in this child, unnamed
But lo, the parents of the babe
Were cruelly taken by the Dark Lord's blade
Leaving the boy with but one kin
His dear aunt, Petunia, and her kin
Act I, Scene II: Hogwarts, a history
The years didst pass and letters didst arrive
Inviting the boy to a magical hive
Where witches and wizards didst reside
And there he would learn to be their guide
Act II, Scene I: The Triwizard Tournament
The boy, now grown, doth enter a test
Against rivals of the very best
But treachery doth rear its ugly head
And the boy, in peril, doth near death
Act II, Scene II: The Battle of Hogwarts
The Dark Lord doth rise once more
With Death Eaters at his very core
But the boy and his friends doth lead the fight
Against the forces of the darkest night
Act III, Scene I: The final defeat
With wand in hand and spell on tongue
The boy doth face the Dark Lord, one-to-one
And in the end, the boy doth win
And peace doth reign in the land once again.
The Charm for healing/countering Sectumsempra that snape also made
I don't think that there is any other ways to mess with time other than time turners
the actor had just read the fourth book and as the other guy said that was the only spell that came to mind for him in the moment
A bit disappointing, but in the book the situation is more realistic.
Its just an extra part of a scene that isnt in the books and was just there to add a bit to the movie not something you should think about because ofc he wouldn't kill Harry right outside dumbledors office
Reading to books is even more in the past then watching the movies.
But thanks.
that's actualy pretty awesome
One thing I'm confused on as someone fairly new to the HP fandom, is why does giving house elves something simple as clothes free them? And why do they basically dedicate their lives to serving Witches/Wizards? I know I heard somewhere that some even take offense to their "masters" trying to free them
It always just kind of confused me lol
i don't realy know how to explain that atleast in writing...
I think just showing them any sort of kindness goes a long way
Elves were treated as servants and slaves with barely to no rights Event though they aren’t in those „X-Rankings“ of magical beasts. They wore these robes as a symbol of their Status as a slave. A piece of clothing meant they were free and can decide weather to serve or not but idk for sure
Although he seems like the kind of guy to be able to get away with it, I was also like "wait, did he just try to..."
And that is exactly how you explain that in writing
Ehm it was after a meeting with dumbledor and it happend right outside his office so dumbledor would for sure get him to get a life time in askaban
He almost got Dumbledore kicked out of office.
I'm not saying he would 100% get away with it, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume so.
Probably a reference to how some Fae (Fair Folk) get insulted and may kill you if you give them clothes
I think that it would. But you can have your own opinion
The book explains the story more "realistic" and without the spell. I just stick with the book, even when that in the film was weird.
This
House elves are based on a type of faerie calked “Brownies” that in folklore would clean the house while the humans living in it slept and the humans would leave out offering of food.
But offering clothes would be an insult and the Brownies would leave forever.
That’s exactly what JKR pulled from for House Elves.
Bob is the most powerful being
Slaves called brownies? Ffs
Just a glitch with a bot
i always wonder why Professor McGonagall didnt adopt Harry i mean she was soooooo concerned about leaving Harry with his Aunt and Uncle
Dumbledore said he wanted Harry to grow up normal but couldnt McGonagall give him a normal life as well?
It's because story. Doubt there's a human alive that could have that upbringing and not turn out a demented evil little turd. At least at Harry's age in the films. He could mature out of it as an adult like so many do but as a teen? He'd be using his newly discovered magic to torture animals
He wanted him to grow up away from magic and with McGonagall literally living at Hogwarts, that would have been the absolute opposite of that.
what about Hagrid?
No she wouldn't, and Dumbledor had made his choise and she couldn't do anything about it
Precisely
Also lives at Hogwarts.
Still on the Hogwarts grounds
and he needed to live with a blod relative to his mother because else the aincient magic wouldn't protect him form harm
And ultimately Dumbledore's true motivation was the blood protection, which he obviously didn't share with most.
I hate that gifs dont work...
is this Ancient Magic the same Ancient Magic in Hogwarts Legacy?
You need to download them first and post them from your drive, little workaround.
smart
It could belong to the same overarching "thing", similarly to the ancient magic imbued in creatures such as dragons, but for now it seems like a different branch at the very least.
seems to be connected to Merlin's Magic
the "Ancient magic" is just long lost magic that is very hard to make and the blod protection made from his mothers sacrefice is just one form of many long lost arts of magic
Merlin and Morgana seem to be at the center of it, yeah - Avalanche could obviously be baiting us though.
true
we will just have to see
yeah, almost there!
exactly
seems to be pretty huge deal as That Goblin is after the MC
tho it makes you wonder what this Magic is
true
i mean Ragnarok seems to really want it for his cause
it sounds like its more powerful than the Killing Curse Avada Kedavra
but it is probably someone who have been at hogwarts like the founders or a former student like Merlin or Morgana (as the other guy also mentioned) who has left something at hogwarts that someday can guide someone to the extemely powerfull magic they have created and you are the one that can find that aincient magic so the vilain needs you so he can find out how to use it
Avada Kedavra ist the strongest magic we have seen but yeah
it's the strongest that we know of
talking about in the books and movies
harnesed by grindlewald with the elderwand in the 2nd fantastic beasts movie
ah i havent seen thos
well of the main line yes but the fantastic beasts franchise is also canon and very important to the lore
fair
man i cant wait to explore Legacy's Lore
it also makes you really wonder why we are starting in our 5th year i know they said they wanted it to make something that First Years cant
Harry and Gang Enters the Chat:
At that point, it might have been better to play as an adulte. After all, most of the wizarding world fans are full grown-ups now.
Those grown-ups still want to be a student at Hogwarts though. 5th year is kinda the sweet spot since it's one of the two most important years academically, we're not children anymore and you still have plenty of room for sequels and/or DLC.
Wouldn't really make for a great gameplay experience though if Wingardium Leviosa is your strongest weapon. We can't all turn enemies to cinders by touching them after all g
should i read the cursed child

Yeah, the play is solid if you go in with the right mindset - which is to ignore the actual plot as much as possible and focus on the spectacle and acting - the (script) book is just horrible.
Oh I dunno. I enjoyed reading the script… and I absolutely loved watching the play
Literally only worth it for Scorpius and Albus conversations and development
That’s it
I also liked that Snape got some closure/redemption in the storyline. I was worried it was going to ruin the series for me but I enjoyed it.
I still say Harry is Snapes son. TBH harry looks nothing like his dad and Snape Patronus and harrys are similar. The sorting hat wanted to put Harry in Slytherin at first and harrys own 2nd son was sorted into Slytherin. Even if harry had a piece of Voldemort in him when he was sorted it left him when Voldemort killed him in the forest. Snape being the baby daddy and Harrys mom sneaking around with him makes perfect sense.
The books make a constant point that Harry is the spitting image of James save for his eyes. He looks nothing like Snape.
Snape has unrequited love for Lilly, they never had an affair.
is this a copypasta
I mean considering the author of the books was unmarried and prob had children with different men (who also might of had their own kids and wife) whos to say that she dident love a good lovechild scandal but the books were written for children so she had to more or so come out with a story in the last of the series about how snape and harry were related and make it work without really saying it.
all this backlash about the author not supporting a certain person rights but what about cheaters rights! 🙌
where Poachers still around in Harry's timeline?
Poachers never really stop. If there’s profit to be made by the capture and selling of exotic animals.
They just aren’t as prevalent or are simply more subtle.
But we know they must be around or else Hagrid wouldn’t have been able to get his hands on an Acromantula or a dragon egg.
These things must have come from somewhere and that will be poachers
true
for the Dragon Egg Norbert Hagrid did say the fellow at the pub was really fond of giving it away
you know i thought of something
you know how we can visit Hogsmeade and walk around
in the books/movies the Students needed a Permission Slip signed by their parents and it was a weekend visit every year it seems like
unless in Harry's time they needed the permission slips because Of You Know Who
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtlJzPxqO2Q man seeing Voldy with a nose is low key kinda creepy NGL
Isn't it implied heavily that it's Quill that gives him the egg while getting info on how to get past the 3 headed dog?
Wasn't it professor quirrel that have hagrid the egg?
im not sure Hagrid just said the fellow at the Pub
That was 100% Quirrell. Also, Norberta* 😉
all i know is Hagrid told the kids after Ron had asked how he'd got a Dragon
Harry figuring out how convenient it was that a random stranger just so happened to have a dragon egg on him, the one thing Hagrid wanted more than anything else, was a plot point in both book and film. Also, if that wasn't Quirrell, how did he find out about Fluffy's weakness?
It's never directly confirmed by Quirrell himself but it's pretty much confirmed by the plot itself.
Harry and co were convinced it was Snape. When they thought Snape was the one trying to steal the stone
That is true, it has nothing to do with the point though.
yeah beqause it was quiriel?
Well it points out how obvious it was that it's a known entity that gave hagrid the egg while looking for info
Well not all of us, even though I'm still more than glad to have such a game that's for sure!
Although, the more we age the more it becomes hard to emphasise with children's issues. Moreover, children saving the day is something seen again and again, and not that plausible.
A bit of change regarding the age and the place would be more than welcomed.
Considering that this is the first standalone AAA Wizarding World game ever, it's kinda soon to talk about "a bit of change". There's a lot of potential for different settings and premises in future games but they will 100% focus on the school fantasy for a while, as they should.
i understand but for a first original HP game not being at Hogwarts or being a professor will be strange, at least we're in 5th year and not around the first 😉 but maybe later in others games we will play an Auror, going in the ministry or something who knows
I miss explained myself, sorry. The "a bit of change" is not only about Hogwarts Legacy, but about the Wizarding World in general. Let's take other video games, it is either the old ones which follows the movies, or the ones such as Hogwarts Mysteries, always children at Hogwarts adventures.
Don't get le wrong, I love Hogwarts and its lore, but I think we's seen, maybe not enough, but a looot already.
The Wizarding world is, well, worldwide, there is so much to see and explore, and it is clearly not only made of children.
There are also the written RPGs online made by fans. It's nearly always the same ones, with the same settings, most often Hogwarts centered. A lot of these sites die within some months, the only one which remain are either the old established ones or the ones which focuse on the adult world.
It's a bit like with The Elder Scrolls for instance. The fanbase is clearly asking for the 6th one and complains about the 5th (Skyrim) being reedited again and again and again, but that same fanbase still buys each and every new reedition of Skyrim.
Indeed indeed.
Althhough, I think a lot of people would have been happy with an Auror or a Curse Breaker for instance as a first original HP game.
Two smartphone games were in the adult world, I didn't play them but it shows there there is a public for it, but hey smartphone games are what they are, one being like PoKemon Go doesn't help.
But a PC/PS5/XBOX - X game in the adult world would have been awsome!
Again, I'm not complaining, I love the few I saw of Hogwarts Legacy and will gladly play this game as soon as possible.
I get what you're saying but everything we've gotten so far are adaptations of the films in different forms, a decent Quidditch game and mobile garbage - HL is the first standalone game within the universe that actually means something and has the potential to be truly special. So while we have seen a lot of Hogwarts, pretty much all of it is directly tied to Harry as a character.
This is the first time we really get to join the WW ourselves, even more so in an AAA title, and starting at Hogwarts once more is just the most natural approach; and obviously the one that will also make the most money.
So I have a question about the patronus, in the movie sometimes the actual animal comes out while others it’s just a flash of white?
Is there a reason to that
Full Patronus are animals. Otherwise they are not
Strongest Patronus are animals in full form
Most cant' do that
Yes sure i would be happy too with an Auror or else and it could be awesome to explore area more like in fantastic beast movies ! But i guess playing a student with house stuff, class, learn spell/potions it's still ok for me cuz I've always dreamed to explore Hogwarts and around. The past games was frustrating about that even the very goods HP2 & 3 which you can fly around Hogwarts but still limited cuz PS2
where it would be surprising in a good way is to play HL and in a potential HL2 (or something else like AH for Auror Legacy 😆 ) you can take your character save and now grow up in the adult world. A little bit like the witcher 3 (but it was with the question only in witcher 3 ? i don't remember if it take the save)
I'm going to be a magizoologist and live inside my suitcase with my own zoo and never need to bother with people because they're dissapointing
no. quiriel give Hagrid fluffy. not norbert
Hagrid purchased Fluffy from a greek man prior to the events of PS and yes, he absolutely "won" Norbert(a) from Quirrell.
On a side note, it's amusing how often and in how many different ways "Quirrell" has been misspelled in what has essentially been a single conversation - though Quill was probably my favourite for the random Star-Lord cameo
Quirrell is like Benedict Cucumber ||Cumberbatch||
Everyone knows who we are talking about, even with the messed up name
Do you mean Wimbledon Tennismatch?
Yes, EggsBeny Cerealities xD
whoes this Ghost?
did anyone else think that in deathly hallows part 1 harry and hermione dance to O children which came out in 2004 but the movie takes place in the 90s
yes
I don't know if it is the right channel, but did you notice guys that in the cinematic trailer some ppl approached a - most probably female teacher - person and calling her "Professor Weasley"?
Yeah we figured that out ages ago and it was confirmed a few weeks back
A ghost that likes to read
So....On some of the concept art, it shows the three broomsticks. Didn't slughorn say, I remeber when it was just 2 broomsticks?
Sounds like a joke if he did
But how do we "Know"....lol
He was making a bad joke while being plastered and it's also a film-exclusive scene that doesn't happen in the books.
Nice!! Thanks
lol ik that just saying who she is
Lol what? I think you mean she marries his son or grandson
LMAOO No no no ! U know the main character of fantastic beast ? He’s the grandson of Luna
He's Luna's grandfather in-law
yes
Oh right cuz it is before 1990s right ?
yeah newt was born in 1897 and his son Rolf Scamander, married Luna lovegood
Wow luna a time traveller or what?
Rolf was the grandson of Newt not his son
Ok so we've established that the girl born like 70 years after Newt is in fact not his grandparent.....
this bothered me when I found out
It was definitely not a good decision on the directors part... also the dance scene isn't even in the books🙄
Ya I know
I think he wanted to show how close harry and hermione became in the weeks while ron was gone in a smaller amount of time
bc movie yk
but I still love the scene
I thought it was a good scene if you're not too hung up on the particulars, nice moments with them just being friends and happy are pretty rare
😍😍😍 beautiful
It’s call generation
Lol
Ron ❤️
Wtf
Lol 😂 welp it’s fiction for a reason
Totally ageree, they are best friends and i wish we could see more moments like that because their friendship not just related with Ron
do we know who the owner of elder wand is in the game's year?
Ok, its Loxias according to screenrant
No they were just the last owner before tracking it became difficult.
Gregoravitch was the next known owner, but we don’t know where it was or how many had it between Loxias and Gregoravitch
hm, okay, thank you
What is a disillusionment charm . How does it work ?
Makes you invisible
basically
if you are good enough at it
can even hide you from your own view
It makes you almost inviseble like a chameleon where if you don't look hard after it or get close you won't spot it
Its not totally invisible thou, if you are close enough to an enemy and in their line of sight they start to notice you
If ur good enough ur basically invisible to everyone including urself
LV and AD can attest to that
I guess if the magical items from the movies already existed in this time period, there is a non-zero chance that they appear
I mean like what?
The 3 Hallows have the potential to appear though its less likely with the EW
The other 2 have a very good chance though
the possession and location of the elder wand in the Hogwarts legacy time period seems uncertain. Theres not much in the wiki.
Theres mention about "Arcus" and "Livius" although we know nothing of these as well
According to Wiki, Greg birthdate (while uncertain) kinda implies he wasnt around at 1890, when the game takes place
who claimed she got it
He probably wasn't
So no info between Loxias mom, Arcus, Livius and MG
on who has it
between them
I mean if neither had it, it wouldnt be too much of a debacle
theres so little info
Do you think Greg got elder wand as a birthday present from his mom? 😆
At least we know were the ring and clock are
she may aswell have given a death warrant
why would they? the invisiblity cloak is in the potter familys posetion and the ring (with the stone in it) is in the gauntfamily posetion
Well Potters go to Hogwarts
So one of them is likely in the game
Same with the Gaunts at this time
So odds are good 1 of those Hallows is showing up
idk with the gaunts but yes the potters do go to hogwarts but why would the one in posetion of the invisibility cloak give you SUCH a valueble item and how would it get back in their posetion
Same reason James did
to sneak around
and they don't nessecerily know what it is
James did not
so odds are a Potter in this doesn't either
probably the elderwand since who was in the posetion of it in the time is foggy
yeah but he would keep it for himself not give it to some random student
and we haven't heard of any potter at hogwarts in this period
yeah and how would we use the stone of resuraction
We won't.
We won't know what it is
It can just be in the game
We don't need to use them
if there is going to be a hallow in the game i would bet my right ball that it is the elderwand
we'll find out
ig
12 days for the ones with deluxe
that reminds me
gotta pre-order
whole game will be on YT before the normal version is out
Ok im off to sleep. nice chat. take care. later all.
Bye
We've already seen a Gaunt ingame in one of the videos I think
Gregorovitch is heavily implied to be at least as old as Grindelwald, so he was definitely "around" in 1890 - he could still be a kid though.
"As old" meaning when he was born in this context?
Yeah
wait what
where
he is older than grindelwald
That's why I said "at least as old" - I too think that he was born before Grindelwald but the evidence is circumstantial.
fair
I feel like Dumbledore was a villain...
"Help will always be given to those who ask for it" and then in snapes memory we see him beg and Dumbledore asks (what will you give me in return severus)
Also he could have saved Lily, James, Severus, Regulus and more characters but he didn't cause of his choices.
Ron says that he sends out Harry to destroy the Horrocruxes but he doesn't tell harry what they could be or how to destroy them.
He also left Draco to fend for himself and Voldemort did more than Dumbledore by just hugging Draco.
He spoiled the Gryffindors rotten and didn't care about anything of Slytherin.
I think Snape protected Harry more than Dumbledore.
We also saw the magical beast bow to Dumbledore and all. But maybe it can't see the future?
I’m p sure Voldy only hugged Draco in the movie and therefore it’s not canon but.
There‘s also a Theory which says that Dumbledore is Death
Voldemort is the oldest brother, Snape the one in the middle and Harry the last of the brothers
Dumbledore would be more comparable to an anti-hero than a villain imo. He's not necessarily evil or malicious, but he's not afraid to make sacrifices and do what he thinks is absolutely necessary to achieve something, even at the cost of other ppl's safety. Granted it was for everyone's benefit but it left a bad taste in other ppl's mouth
yea and it was improvised by the actor
Oh my god... Snape wanted them to come back... Voldemort desired power... And harry wanted to DISAPPEAR from the dursleys... This kinda pieces together
Also Harry was the only one that survived
He also sacrificed his own life too. Granted the horcrux did him in truly
Yes, that too
he only put on the ring on bc he finally pieced together the fact that the stone was the resurrection stone and he dident realize that voldemort had made the ring part a horcrux before it was 2 late. He was anxious to see his sister again and jumped the gun on what it could have done to him. If he * had known that the ring was a horcrux i dont think he would have put it on so willingly
correct and i for sure don't think he would have put it on but once he did he was put his self in the frontline because he knew his time was limited already. but i also think he would have made the play he did anyway cause they needed snape to stay undercover. he wouldn't have put the ring on but i think he would have sacrificed himself to keep snapes cover and draco safe
Snape was lucky to get a second chance at all. Without Dumbledore he would have gone straight to Azkaban.
He pretty much did save Snape and how exactly could he have saved Lily, James and Regulus? All three of them died due to their own choices, not Dumbledore's.
He thought he had more time. You're acting like Dumbledore planned on dying that very night on the Astronomy Tower - if anything, that's more a character flaw because Dumbledore was kinda infamous for delaying the inevitable.
He assisted Draco through Snape which was the only real play at this point considering Dumbledore's plan for Snape to kill him, Draco's supposed role in his death as well as Snape's position as a spy and the Unbreakable Vow.
You can argue that spoiling the Gryffindors was just a countermeasure to make up for all the points that were undeservedly taken by Snape. And it's not like said Gryffindors didn't deserve the points to begin with. As for him not caring about any Slytherin... I think you really need to read the books again.
There is an argument to be made for that claim. That doesn't support the "Dumbledore was a villain" narrative though.
I wouldn't point the VILLAIN way, but an Anti-Hero I'd say.
An antihero is a main character lacking qualities typically associated with the hero-archetype, that doesn't fit either. Dumbledore was simply a brilliant but also deeply flawed character.
OKAY FINE YOU WIN
I just think he made some poor choices
He undoubtedly did, yes.
AD knew the ring was a horcrux when he found it but seeing the stone overrode his common sense that LV likely put a curse on the ring if anyone tried to touch or use it
As for Regulus, I don't know if he even knew what happened to the guy to begin with since the Horcrux they took from the cave was fake and he died before learning that.
I wonder if a Golden Snidget is in the game?
It's the animal that the Golden Snitch is based on
It was. I dont fully remember if it still is. A check of the wiki would probably solve this sooo
Yes they're still endangered
It's on one of the official clothing merchandise up on amazon so I'd bet there is a reason for that
Hogwarts Legacy Snidget Live The Unwritten Badge T-Shirt https://a.co/d/8LCJX4w
there is none
lol, i mean there are tongues but thats not dependent on your House, exmtremly rare and event they can only speak to snakes/snake like creatures
I really tried to make sense of this comment. With much regret, I failed to do so.
i think its talking about parsetongue but its put really weirdly so im not sure
......I'm pretty sure Parseltongue is the only language a witch/wizard can speak, when it comes to speaking with animals??
Correct me if I'm wrong.
yes and its not really a language you can learn. you can learn it but would have to know someone who speaks it and if all are like harry then its near impossible to properly learn it
Unless your an animagus maybe im not sure. In the books iirc when black was a dog he was able to communicate with Hermonies cat and the cat could sense that wormtail was also an animagius and thats how black found out @eternal totem
But her cat was not a full blood cat it was also half kneazle
In the movies it never showed them 2 communicating but it showed how she was never able to keep up with her cat bc her cat was always sneaking off to find Rons rat and one night in the books it showed her cat and black as a dog meeting up one night on the grounds while she was on the hunt for him.
Ah yeah, that is true....
But as for a Human in human form, I'm sure it's impossible.
i don’t think he was flawed for having a backstory that gave him more depth, if he hadn’t been a worse person before than now, it’d be hard to relate to his character because he wouldn’t seem to be growing as a person throughout the books
I meant flawed as in a person with character flaws, not that he's flawed in his actual characterisation - my bad, I probably should have used person instead of character to begin with.
yeah sorry my phone didnt know the word and auto corrected it, I meant Parseltongue
Question 🙋🏼♀️ if we are going to be entering Hogwarts as a 5th year in 1890 and Albus Dumbledore will be a first year in 1892, will we be seeing a little eleven year old Albus Dumbledore in our 7th year? 😃
if the game even stretches that far, it would be fun to see him
Do you think parselmouths can talk to lizards too or is it only snakes
Since lizards are extra closely related to snakes
Moreso than other reptiles
And do you get to choose the species of snake that appears from serpensorcia
Lets not get ahead of ourselves
But I AM hoping this game is a huge success and will get lots of expansions, extra years 😄
Too late 😐
three rotations should be enough
thank you for teaching me something new today! I didn't know this.
No problem, happy to help
dumbledore comes from a long line, of superior nazis, that actualy
that actualy what
........what?
Anyone able to answer me a lore question about Fantastic beasts?
I was watching the movies and last night I noticed that Newt was able to change the shape of his wand? Never heard about it or seen it talked about so im wondering if thats a common spell they never showed in the games/books/movies or is it a unique ability?
interesting question. I havent seen the movie yet (I subbed to HBO max today to watch all the movies but I didnt get that far yet)
I also havent heard anything about that kind of spell
Ive watched the first 6 movies now
This doesn't make sense chronologically
and is completely arbitrary
Transfiguration. We see a guy in movie 2 change his wand into a staff or vice-versa at one point. Its just transfiguration.
Think its only snakes
Maybe if you’re proficient enough
Bro what? 😂 I know what you mean but why are you calling it nazis lmao
What do they mean? I certainly don't understand it.
Which scene and movie are you talking about? Can't rember his wand changing.
I really don’t see what was wrong about what I wrote so I’m gonna post it as a picture and some mod can tell me what the problem was lol
It’s auto modded because of a banned word probably
Probably the na.. part in your comment flagged the whole thing.
Like someone else said, the time line wouldn't make much sense. Alas, with the Wizarding World at the moment, who knows how the timeline actually looks like. lol
timelines can be...weird
And the time of harry potter film series is 1990+ in wizarding time? or?
Wizarding time? But yes its in the 1990s
Tho this is from a flashback so before 1990s
It's a mix of the 1990s and the 2000s. The books strictly play in the 1990s.
The movies sans FB; since those are canon, not really an authority when it comes to the timeline.
Understood thx 🙂
And me the Force be with you. Always :3
yes
what is or isn't canon?
movies aren't in general?
Im not really a lore expert, I just got lot more interested due to HL
Not much of a Star Wars fan. Alas, may the force be with us all.
and I have only one book.
The force shall set you free.
(Im a Sith) >:)
and I dont subscribe to rule of two
Basically, to me - anything that isn't directly written by JKR herself isn't considered canon.
Ive mainly watched the movies, I have only one book.
But it can be problematic if there is too much detachment between what most people know (movies) and the books. I noticed this problem in Conan exiles where the detachment from non-canon movies and books written by Robert E. Howard growed quite large
FB are canon, Cursed Child is also canon (somewhat), the books (those take presedence) anything written on WW by JKR that's it.
It's mostly fine. The Harry Potter story isn't that difficult to grasp imo.
The movies mostly left a lot of stuff out and butchered some characters, but the overall plot remained largely the same, I guess.
Malfoy for instance was toned down quite a bit in the movies. In the books, while some of his insults are hilarious, others are in extremly poor taste, Hermione was made a lot more interesting in the movies for instance.
The films glorified Hermione really, which wasn't necessary because she's a strong character to begin with. They also did Ron and to a lesser degree Harry dirty by giving quite a few of their lines and moments to Hermione instead.
But yeah, generally what is or isn't canon depends on your viewpoint. Strictly speaking it's everything directly and predominantly written by JKR; so the books, Pottermore/the WW site and the FB movies. Cursed Child can be seen as canon, though a lot of people - myself included - think that a Twitter post isn't enough to include it. You also have the purists who only acknowledge the books as canon, which is honestly understandable.
The original 8 films should be seen as their own thing though because they change and exclude a lot of events and characters.
i know he had his mom's love protection and all n Voldy used the killing curse but it still never explained how the scar ended up as a lighting bolt
Magic scar
and how does it hurt Voldy he says its ancent magic but how does the love charm or spell hurts Voldy
The movie depiction and later also the book cover depictions should be forgotten in my opinion. The scar shouldn't look like this silly "n" but like a scar you would normally see, as in it having healed over time, and leaving behind blemishes and a difference in skin colour and skin texture.
and its neat how his scar alerts Harry if Voldy is near
is his scar Voldy's horacrox?
Question: weren’t the movies monitored by JKR and are therefore canon? Legit don’t know an answer to that as the movies did portray some things different than the books so… 🤷♂️
She had creative control which basically means that she had the right to veto a certain number of things - based on contract stipulations - and she was definitely quite involved and probably consulted often, but she didn't monitor/supervise the films.
And even if she had a more prominent role, the films change and omit a lot of events, details and characters, so the books always have precedence when it comes to any differences, unless otherwise specified by the author.
the scar is lighting bolt cause thats the wand movement youd have to do to case the spell
the ancient magic is less a love charm and more a protection charm which made his spell rebound onto voldy
That makes the most sense. Good answer 👍😅
love is ancient magic - does our character wield the power of love?!
I don't think the wand movement thing is canon for avada kedavra
pretty sure it is
The image of Avada Kedavra's wand movement comes from unused/hidden images of the old Pottermore Wizard Duel. Back then you were basically able to see it by changing parts of the URL of an existing wand movement to the Killing Curse.
So it's not really canon as JKR never made it completely official, but it's pretty much accepted as canon by many fans - for good reason imo.
I see. Thank you
Some if not all of the wand movements are silly imo since they would be required for each casting nevermind the incantation if you do wandless or non-verbal magic.
Like some of the gestures could be hard to properly and are overly long for use in combat when you don't really have time for it and you have to do them super fast
I agree. Although they can probably not be done, same as incantations, but idk how easier spells are to cast with the movements
I thought wand movements are more for charms and non combat related spells
No, AK has a wand movement
In the books voldemort isn't destroyed, he is buried. There is a lot of events that happened in the movies that didn't happen in the books
books >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> movies 😄
I'm not sure what they would even have done with Voldemort's body after his death
