Thanks! When I first started designing it, my idea was that it was my wizarding self who designed it while working at a company I came up with called "Thunderbird Broomsticks" so this would be the latest in their Q-series which stands for quick and includes all of their racing brooms.

But then I changed my head canon to me working for another company that makes more sense story-wise called "Firebeam Broomstick co." and then this would be the latest in their Tyto-series, so the name would be something like: "Firebeam Tyto 8 Racing Broom" or something like that

I made my own broomstick design too! I called it the Windsurfer; its speed is on par with the Nimbus 2000, but has pleasantly-smooth turning transitions, so it’s much easier to control and can change direction with little effort

Hey! It’s been a bit 😅

But I made some new art! Uh this is like a concept sketch for an album cover. The musician left me to have full creative freedom since I usually derive my creativity from music.

Her music kind of had the theme of music as a form of communication and when I hear it everything overflows. This is one of two ideas I’ve had, the second being the same, except two birds on a branch.

The themes I wanted to represent are communication, balance, duality, and contrast.

I think my favorite part is how they speak and music notes come out 😂

I have 3 tattoos. Two where made when I was very young and those I regret. If you considering getting a tattoo I recomend to wait untill you're over 25 cause your brain changes alot untill then and with it your taste and what you like.

Well I took the plunge and ordered 7 different types of wood to make wands out of. Don't know how long it'll take before they turn up, might be next week considering I didn't pay for weekend shipping but hey ho, that along with some new tools sets me up for a little while.

Especially once I get that piece of rhododendron cut to length and dried out, and then do the same to the piece of holly that we're going to cut out of the hedge.

So yay, 10 different wood types to try and make wands out of.

Riot was always one of my favorite character designs I’ve made because her cape is just outstanding.

I did a lot of alterations compared to her initial design from years ago.

She’s the younger of the twins and more mischievous but serious. Meanwhile chaos/Solaris is more wise but airheaded at the same time almost.

😂🤦‍♀️ the lack of quality for now but I’m tired. It shows.

She’s more flowy and majestic.

Maybe years later you’ll look at one no matter what format and think “wow! I can add xyz”. I think it’s great how art is both subjective to interpretation and as well as infinite.

I think these things make it very priceless. That and it’s also a form of thought.

But I definitely always want to create, and I create as much as I can and in as many ways as I can and I strive to create in more ways.

I think the thing that’s also great with art is how much there is to do whether again it’s visual, or writing or music. Photography kinda counts too. Architecture, fashion. 😩😭

As for blender I tried to learn when I was 13. It’s tough indeed, however there’s lots of tutorials that may simplify things for you if you get stuck.

And also remember there’s no right or wrong way to do anything in art. 😉

Getting hold of wood has actually been more difficult than I had expected. Especially as I prefer buying dowels as then it's easier for my to shape as I don't have a lathe to turn down a blank.

Technically though if you managed to get yourself a block of lets say 5*5cm you could quarter it. And then you just have to round of the corners

Oh getting wood blanks is easier for sure, and length isn't too much of an issue, but as I said not having a lathe makes using them a lot more difficult.

not that using a dowel makes it too much easier as well cutting wood down and trying to keep it circular is difficult

I have a wandmaker fan fic (started before I started making wands) and in it he makes a wand out of the aluminium they use to use for making planes before they swapped to composite materials.

The core is then a thunderbird feather.

The character he makes it for is a space obsessed muggle-born Ravenclaw.

That story ties into another of mine about a Ravenclaw student with ADHD, Autism, and Dyspraxia, who struggles because he can't write stuff via quill really let alone fast enough to write down a lessons notes. (Dyspraxia is a nervous disorder which means signals from the brain are either slower or miss information, so it leads to slow writing and poor reaction times).

The story is set in 2000/2001 school year. The character is in his second year, but his mentor is the girl who has the aluminium wand, and she's in her 4th year, though she technically did her second at a different school cos Moldyshorts took over.

My third grade teacher was essentially Professor Umbridge… She was pure evil.

She punished the entire class for the acts of one or two students and would make us write lines in cursive during recess period so we never got to play.

She told us we would never be writing in print from any grade on so we had to learn it. Everything we did in her class had to be done in cursive and if she didn’t like your writing she would make you do it again…

She did that for the punishment lines we had to write too…

Come fourth grade and my teacher said “I don’t want anything in cursive because I don’t want to spend hours deciphering hieroglyphics.”

So that is the metre of ash, beech, cherry, oak, maple, tulipwood, and half a metre of walnut(they didn't have any metre long dowels in stock).

Hopefully I can make something interesting out of them.

Until then though I still have another pine wand to finish off.

So from left to right are the first three wands that I've made.
The first on the left is rather rough but I got around to putting boiled linseed oil on it today to finish it
The second in the middle was a major technical challenge but I made some mistakes with the upper spirals.
And the third on the right is still unfinished as can be seen from the direction arrows so I knew which way to cut the wood without splitting it.
In the background is the box with the new wood types.

Why would I paint wood? Also they are carved, all of that is done by hand with a knife, files, and sandpaper.
