Technically all AI have to be trained, which means that you need a bunch of reference material for them to look at that is tagged correctly so that if someone puts in "Snape making potions" then the bot can produce an image of that.

A big problem with these art bots is that they don't say where they get the datasets that they used to train the bot.

So whilst the end user doesn't have to input an image, just text, we don't know what images the bot has used to know how to create what people want.

It's machine learning, you just run the data through a neural network a million times and give it points everytime the results come out looking like you want them to.

As an artist it is really frustrating when you make an artwork in 6h and post it because your proud and want to show your creations but then an ai "artist" comes post something that was created in a minute and gets hyped like hell! On instagram if you read the comments they all grats the artist what a great work it is and they even have the guts to say thanks etc. Sometimes they even write that they had hours to make this! I don't get the hype, most artworks look like a collage of different photos combined with a filter! Often they have a second floor in the clouds and stupid stuff like that.

Look, AI art, to some degree falls under the same Fair Use parts of the law as fan works, it's a sort of grey area that's allowed because it is transformative in nature and often brings more attention to the original work

My one problem with it is the unauthorised use of other people's art to train the AI on, but at the same time, how many artists would willing say "Yeah you can use my art to train your AI to make new art"

it's a whole bunch of ethical questions that are frankly beyond me

It also depends on the country I guess. Some protect art in their law some don't. Also what you said is true the Ai don't copy an artwork but it uses parts of artworks and combine them to something new. You can now say I can chop mona lisa in pieces and combine it with art of munch and van gogh to a collage and its someghing new but it is still pieces of da vinci van gogh and munch isn't it?

Well yes by that example it would just be pieces of their art, but if you were to take inspiration, follow similar themes and posing as those artists, then whilst it'd be clear where your inspiration came from, it would be classified as a new work.

There's a show on TV (I forget the name of it) where they look at artworks that people have and try and match them up with artists of the past. Often we see that the really famous artists had a lot of imitators who clearly were sometimes even a bit more than inspired by a piece and straight up copied the composition of it. But with others we see that they were trained by the famous painter whose style they are following.

Now admittedly those artists lived hundreds of years ago and the copying aspect would be considered wrong, but for those who were merely inspired by or trained by the great masters of the past, would you consider their art not theirs for simply using techniques, posing, colours, and compositional styles that they didn't originate?

This is why as I said, AI art is an ethical conundrum because on one hand you could say it's merely stitching together pieces, whilst on the other you could say it is creating a new work based off of what it has been trained on, using elements that it thinks would be best.

Again it's not something I can answer beyond knowing that for myself I'd be upset if an AI was trained on my art without my knowledge or permission, but that if I gave such then I'd be okay with it.

All just a wonderful complicated mess of a question.

My biggest issue is on feet. Regarding drawing characters.

Shading was one of the hardest things for me growing up, I pretty much just wing it these days lol The only tip I have is using like actual colors and not like black and white (unless greyscale)

Greyscale helps me draw a bit better because it’s easy to build on (like starting with a dark grey or black base and using white to draw and a lower opacity brush(or smudge tool wink wink)

I think these are also the pieces where my art actually looks decent 💀

the best way to learn how to draw is by just trying out new styles and ways. I watched so many youtube tutorials and just drew in the same way. you then adapt what you like about this style and change what you dislike with other methots untill you adapt an own style

Yeah I always got hufflepuff but my friend said I had gryffindor qualities so I went "hmm." And took it (lost my other account and never fully finished the quiz) a d then I got gryffindor
