Not known currently, but if you're playing on PC there should be workarounds for it even if you can't. Since you can just swap around save files.

Most yeah, not all. I can only think of a few Nintendo titles that don't allow multiple save files, which can be worked around by playing on multiple user profiles.

I don't know of other console games that do this because i don't own other consoles except a ps3. But it is indeed a valid question that's worth answering.

A lot of games these days tend to go for a "Here's your last x amount of saves"

but to keep multiple saves going you'd have to actively load it and save again for it to not disappear
