That's where I think it gets tricky. With RPG scaling existing as it does, they would likely need an entirely separate RPG scaling system for online play (unless they melded them, but that would lead to massive imbalances). I do think PvE is more likely than PvP though.

I wanted to mod some of the harry potter games to allow for windowed mode, but even that was rough. Mostly because from what I could tell their window is passed into d3d9 which does all of the window configuration

when the window function was called from the windows api it was just set to an invisible window that didn't do anything. So injecting before that would have been useless. Might've been able to do some stuff after the fact, but then I started working on this gta script instead haha

I typically circle my projects a lot, leave behind and come back to them months later

I'm just as interested really, however I can't stand the pain and toil of trying to mod when all the tools are so unstable. And 90% of the time it's debugging rather than creating. I know the 3D file formats really well, so while I don't have the motivation to keep working on it alone, it's nice to help make it easier for others. And who knows, maybe eventually I've written enough tools for it that the workflow can be somewhat painless

then I can start making my own stuff :D

But just like I said earlier, I feel my efforts are better focused on my own game ideas rather than modding 10 year old games, but sometimes I just follow my motivation. I'll always learn stuff in the end, so I guess it doesn't really matter what I do

some of my favorite games are Portal/Portal 2, Catherine, Shadow of the Colossus

Which all have those elements, if not that probably just a pure 3D platformer, along the lines of mario, a hat in time
