One day he gets ill and asks his wife to go fetch medicine for him, but makes her swear on an oath not to talk to anyone
She goes back into her hometown and after buying the medicine, she passes the mayor's home, the seat of the regional government
She sees her mother from a window and sits down to a rock and cries, the rock turns blue from her tears
The mayor hears the commotion and he and many people try to get her to say something, but she can't and won't
So the mayor tells her to tell the stone about her worries, and she tells the entire story while in earshot of the people around her
She tells them through the stone to get to the cave in the woods during noon, when he would be asleep in her lap
A few men climb up the rocks to the man-built cave the next day and let a noose down from the built-in chimney
The mayor's daughter, while Lippold has his head in her lap, puts the noose around the man and the towns people hang him in his own home
Nowadays, there are no remains to be seen anymore, but the blue stone and the cave still exist
No one knows what happened to the mayor's daughter after this
