While online gameplay seems like a must want, there really doesn't have to be online if the devs allow it or not, there can still be a huge fandom about it. I mean look at games like Earthbound or Witcher 3 as mentioned above, people can still contribute and have some original ideas making the content always expanding, never fading and always growing. This can also grow a modding community if allowed, might be difficult to implement but it helps keep dedicated fans up and going.

think that's unlikely, RPG's are all about an adventure, and it sounds like there's going to be a lot of choices we can make. So locking us into pottermore wouldn't be fun imo
