Anyone have a problem where switching from Ultra causes CTD on startup?

It seems like the game wants to force me to play on Ultra graphics though my Ally can't really handle it very well, and when I switch to High or something, I have to delete the Config file and it forces Ultra mode again or CTDs on startup. I have mods, but it was doing this even before I started adding mods.

Have you tried deleting the config folder under savegames? I keep getting CTDs too so I went digging and found that solution and it fixed it but forces Ultra mode gameplay which my GPU can't really handle

That's odd, have you tried reinstalling? Another good option is to make sure your graphics and CPU drivers are up to date. When I tried playing No Man's Sky it crashed because of old drivers and possibly also old Windows versions so also make sure your Windows has no pending updates.

Reinstalled and checked steam for any broken files...

Before the driver update, it worked. I then did an update and I suddenly did quit working and I am stuck. Windows is up to date, drivers all new.
