About 35% of the way through the game, you'll unlock a broom and at 50% another mount type and about 70% your last mount type.

Yes you will, the delux only gets an extra diffrent colored mount... which is very useful in it's own way... but not required to get a mount. I dont wanna say more or it will ruin a large portion of the game when you get to it.
