the way i do it is by hex editing.
i did that to get german subtitles with english audio.
so basically you set the language in steam or where you have the game to the one you want the audio to have.
and then you open the executable in hex editor and go to the language part.
like en-US.
and then you go to the language you set the audio to in steam.
for example for simplified chinese, so it defaults to english voices.
it would be schinese.
and then you replace the zh-ch iirc.
to de-de if you want the subtitles in german for example

that makes all the audio as in steam.
but subtitles as the ones you want.
unfortunately that doesn't change the audio in the pre-rendered cutscenes.
those will use the audio from your subtitle language

This is very off-topic, but I apparently lost my brother today. Hogwarts Legacy was a game that reminded me of him I used to always play it with him. That definitely is the downside. It's hard to say what they will do I know alot of the nexus mods still work mainly the cosmetic mods don't.

Thats definitely something that the modders group im in can't stand. We literally have to jump through hoops sometimes to test.

The kit got fixed with this patch in a lot of aspects like decreases mod size but there's still currently SQL bugs and others that we still haven't gotten through. The mods become corrupted incredibly easy as do our saves and majority of the time thats why they won't load ar all from the mod page or give you a black screen

Maybe try a clean install I can post the tutorial you just remove some files from your Explorer, of course back up your saves and mods if you want but I've only had to that once but I haven't had to do it again

So copy and save the Mod folder in the User>appdata>local>hogwartslegacys. Once done delete both of those folders, next go your game and select browse local files and delete the engine, phoneix and Hogwarts Legacy files. Once you've done that you will go to your game and hit play on steam or in epic games launcher and it will automatically start a clean install. You may have to select play twice. Just make sure to back up your mods and saved files somewhere on your computer like in the desktop or documents folders oncw your clean install is completeled, youll return those 2 folders back to the user>appdata>local>hogwarts legacy file path.

I only added my saved folder back and re-installed my mods in the mod manager screen manually. So if you only want to back up the SAVED folder you can do that as well and manually re-install the mods. If you do only decide to back up your saves and manually add your mods, they may still appear in your enabled mods screen once you finish your clean download. Just disable them and they will disappear when you apply changes. Then you can go and re install them.

I posted the tutorial it has images with the files paths and the folders that need to be removed to do a clean install to get your mods to work.

You back up the mods and saved folders and the you delete the original once youve backed them up. Next you be deleting the Engine, Phoneix and Hogwarts Legacy files from the file path > programfiles> steam> steamapps> hogwarts legacy. Then hit play on your game it will start a clean download.

For some reason I can't post the images so look at these here in the tutorial if that helps.

Yep + some mods conflict with another mods and I see what the problem more / deactivating and activating and looking yep some mods I not use now not need all and game work!!!

If you find mods having conflicts, do let the authors of them know so they can try to fix it on their end to where both can work together. Sometimes it's possible & other times it isn't, sometimes it's how the mods get cooked that makes one incompatible with another, but that doesn't mean they won't try to fix it.

You can absolutely do that! I did that with one of mine & then the game ran normally. Sometimes a mod either doesn't cook right or the machine doesn't take the update. It's fixable though & sometimes it's just 1 mod that throws the whole game into chaos. You're game will work right soon, that much I know. 😊

Quick question, once you add mods to a save, can you change/add more? or is it a load all mods at the "start" of the save, type deal

@burnt thicket it depends on the mod. Preset mods work better adding them at the beginning. But if you remove a mod that had a preset it can crash the save until you add it back. I add the second phoenix got it them pulled the mod and my save crashed until I put it back.

What is mean is that the path is going to be different for you than me. As my computer is set up way different than yours.

Originally I found the description of a mod to change the control I believe it was the revilio page locater and I didn't have that path but I was able to figure out my path from it. Since mine is saved in a cloud it was difficult to find

If it's on CurseForge, you should be able to find it through the native mod manager.

Is there anyone who can/has/is willing to create a better arachnophobia mode? Before the mod support update, I used NorskPL's arachnophobia mode and I loved it so much. The official mode feels like a joke in comparison. I can't stand the fact that the spider images were left in the field guide and on the arithmancy doors. I also just don't think the changes to the spiders with the official mode are enough. They still look enough like spiders to make my heart jump and panic a little when I run across them. I haven't seen anything like this in the in game mods, so please let me know if there's anything out there!

I found a mistake in the gameusersetting.ini that the devs over looked

If you to to the line GPUConfigPreset= the games config is set to be -1 which is the cpu. You need to save the line as GPUConfigPreset=1 so your gpu is used not the cpu. For me using =0 also works

C:/user/appdata/local/hogwarts legacy/saved/config/windowsnoeditor . Open the Gameuserssettings.ini as a text file so any notepad software will work. Normally -gpu1 or -1 is reserved for the cpu an 1 is your default gpu unless you have no integrated gpu the value would be 0 assuming that's what's shown in the task manager

You can probably see why have the config use the cpu instead of the gpu is a bad thing. By default the game uses nvidia_fsr something as default which also may cause issues to some users. I haven't figured a fix to turn off all ai features since the game defaults to ultra settings which causes loading issues

In the ini file search UpscaleMode then press find. Because not all gpus run well with AMD_FSR_Quality this should never be turned on by default. The TAA_High is turned on high for AntiAliasingMode and DefaultAntiAlisingMode which could be causing issues to gtx gpus.

The LatencyMode= Has Nvidia_Reflex_LowLatency on by default which causes hogwarts legacy to crash because non rtx gpus can't run that api. So the game has to hard crash for gtx and gt users.

Honestly I'm amazed by all of these settings that's forced on by default that will cause so many users issues. When the ai features should never be forced on by default.

I know there's other issues but I haven't found them yet.

If you search RecTextureQuality=3 in the GameUserSettings the value is maxed out. I would recommend changing the 3 to 1 for low settings for better load times. This should work with the foliage and other Rec settings.

I think changing bUseDynamicResolution from False to True. Could help ease gpu usage for performance gain.

Under
[ScalabilityGroups] there are raytracing effects. I would change the value from 3 to 0. To brute force raytracing effects off.

With all of these rather messy settings by the devs. There's alot of improvements that could be done in the .ini file

For base effects id change the 3 (high quality) to 1 for low quality but use your nvidia or and control panel for native uoscaling to cut back on gpu resources that really don't need to be as taxing.

Not sure if this will help in steam go to hogwarts legacy open the launch option using -novid might help with skipping unnecessary video files. If there's a coding mistake with how the game launches the splash screens

I've been going through your suggestions, and the scalability groups one made the largest difference for myself, so far.

Glade to hear the changes helped make a difference for you. I would try using msi after burner but finding a sweet spot for a over clock can take 30-40 minutes. Tho for my gt 710 355 core clock and 340 memory clock seems to help. Then using WinAero to remove stuff like cortona an debloat windows deffently helps gives a performance boost. There's one extra step if you wanna brute force your gpu to be used for hogwarts legacy .

Go to settings/ display scroll down to graphic settings (assuming your on windows 10) click browse. Find the hogwarts legacy exe. Once added click option. Click high performance with your gpu name. An now when you load the game. In task manager your gpu ID number will be on the right side of hogwarts legacy.

After the updated that added the mod manager ther game has been unstable. From what I can tell and geforce expierence shows. Hogwarts legacy is trying to force max settings even on lower end computers which is causing issues

After, digging into the game ini files. The GameUserSettings.ini after launching the game. Hogwarts legacy wants to launch into max setting and will rewrite the game ini file for some reason. The TAA for some reason is forced to be on high, The Nvidia_Reflex_ is on performance by default. The upscaler is set to Amd_FSR2_Quality which is also causing some issues. I'm trying to find a text file or game related.ini that has the ai chart so I can create a edit ini file to completely turn off all ai features in hopes to brute force raytracing turned off to hopefully fix some bugs. That the devs seem to ignore or just havent been made aware of.

I wouldnt blaime the mods. Some of the game usetsetting ini values are very questionable. Which may be causing some mod issue. By default the game is trying to force max settings with all raytracing effects on. If the older mods were made for non rtx mods then the game forcing raytracing will not allow the mods to work.

I asked this in a post a few days ago, but is there anyone that would be willing to create a better arachnophobia mode? I used NorskPL's mod that turned all the spiders into simple boxes before the mod update and it was incredible. The official arachnophobia mode is horrendous. It doesn't remove the spiders from the field guide background, the arithmancy doors, any of the quest cards, or the enemy bestiary. To be perfectly honest, I feel like the arachnophobia mode was made poorly on purpose because the devs didn't want to create it in the first place, so it's even less than half-assed. Including everything I mentioned, the change to the enemy models themselves are not good enough; they still look way too much like spiders. Please, can someone make a better one? I want to continue my playthrough with the official mod support, but I'm going into panic every time I think I might encounter a spider, which is like every time I'm not in Hogwarts or Hogsmeade. I would be more than willing to commission a mod author to make this!

Hey everyone, I could really use some help before Hogwarts Legacy breaks my spirit (or my mouse, whichever comes first).

I’ve tried launching the game on Epic Games, Microsoft Store, Boosteroid, Steam, AND GeForce Now — and no matter what, I get stuck on the Accessibility Options page. The game loads, shows me that screen… and then just vibes there. I can’t click anything, I can’t “scratch to continue,” I’m just frozen in place like someone cast Stupefy on my entire setup.

I’ve already reset everything, uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times, but it keeps dumping me on that same cursed screen. Every. Single. Time.

Is there any way to fix this without going through Shadow PC? I just want to play the game, not spend eternity trapped in accessibility limbo.

Any ideas, hacks, potions or exorcisms welcome. Thanks in advance — and yes, I will name my next hippogriff after you if it works.

Devs should really fix the optimization of the game before asking us to pre-order a new release of it on another console.

It doesn't work right on PC it doesn't right work on Xbox it doesn't work on right PlayStation.

It works right on my systems, although it lags a little on my PC sometimes, but that's when Microsoft sends updates out as far as I've noticed. Then again, I don't keep my consoles clogged up with a ton of games either, so maybe that's why HL runs good for me. I don't use a ton of mods on my PC either, so that helps too.

Sounds stupid but have you checked if it's the save? If not try uninstalling and delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hogwarts Legacy folder and the root game folder manually. They usually stay behind

For Floo Companions, I'd dismiss your follower before doing one of the companion quests. I did that with Imelda when I did a quest that had Natty with me & the mod didn't mess up at all for me.

Is there a quick way to see specifically which mod is preventing a save file to load?

Not that I know of at the moment. If a mod had an update, then you need to reboot the game to clear the cache out. Otherwise, remove the mods one at a time until the save loads. There's more than one reason a save won't load though & sometimes the mod files get corrupted.

I don't know if this is the right room, but, I have a couple of questions that I can't seem to get answered anywhere: Why are there so many empty treasure chests?

The past 2 or 3 butterflies and a few other chests, just recently, have been empty

not to mention how many other chests from other characters have been empty

Plus, does anyone know why, sometimes, a room will be so bright, that I can't see anything? I had to stop trying to do a treasure vault puzzle because I couldn't see anything

you should also see if you can go up to 32gbs of ram as the minimum spec is 16gbs

also your gpu could be holding you back as its designed to be a 1080p card if your running 1440p and high graphics could have it vram cap out

hey i used unofficial mod way back then on my save to get my broom to level and i bought the upgrade for it too back, but now i can't get the upgrade and my broom upgrade is level 1 and i can't buy the upgrade again. is there a way to fix it ?

Delete the mod folders in the directory itself mate, verify files then just reinstall them one by one. It will fix the issue. If you’ve downloaded from nexus, you’ll probably have paks folder and mods folder separately, best just start from scratch. If you run the game in terminal you should be able to pinpoint the issue, copy and paste the output

I started a new character using mods from the official CurseForge workshop. However, when I launch the game, I can't see that new character in the main menu — it doesn't appear in the save list.

The only way I’ve found to access the character is by going into the game’s save folder and manually loading it through the "Load from Library" option.

Is this a known issue with modded saves? Is there any way to make the character show up normally in the main menu?

There are minor problems with some mods causing the menu button not work etc, but I just removed those. Also didn’t add mods that would create infinite health or anything like that

If the mod isn't updating in-game, then delete the mod out of the folder it's in on the drive itself & do a clean install of the mod. Sometimes the game does NOT uninstall the mod or update it properly. I try to keep my mods that I use under 20 so they're easy to manage when one does act up.

Here's the flow of the folders you'll go through to find the mods you've installed to the game: The name of the drive the game is in,(C Drive is the usual one unless you have more than one drive on the computer), Program Files (x86), Steam, steamapps, common, Hogwarts Legacy, Phoenix, Mods.

Delete the folders from the "Mods" folder that contain the problematic ones.

The files might be corrupted, but you can move them to the spare folder until you get a clean install of each one. At least in that way, you'll have a list. 🙂

I have tried every combination of my mods and every time I get a "Your character cannot be loaded due to an issue with an enabled mod. Disable one or more mods and try again."

The creation kit had an update & as of today, Windows OS also had an update. Check your OS & update it, then check that the game is also updated. Verify the files & if needed, go delete the actual folder(s) that contain the misbehaving mod(s).

You don't. Your Mods folder is in your hard drive. All of the mods you've installed will be in whatever drive the game itself is in.

The sequence of folders to go through to find all of the mods installed are: C Drive (unless you have it in a different drive, then you pick said letter of it), Program Files (x86), Steam, steamapps, common, Hogwarts Legacy, Phoenix, Mods.

Within that final folder will be all the folders of the mods you've installed. Whichever one(s) is refusing to update is the folder you'll delete. After that, go start the game, download the mod(s) again, shut the game back down & restart it to clear the cache... then try to load it.

Always reboot the game after any mod updates & if it refuses to load, shut the game down & delete the mod folder that isn't taking the update so it'll have no choice but to take the updated version.

I was having issues intalling and updating mods in the enabled mods tab. I seem to have fixed it by deleted folders in Documents\Hogwarts Legacy\Mods

Then go to "AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy", I deleted the mod file here as well.

Then go to "AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\SaveGames" and delete "ModOperations.sav" and "ModTutorial.sav".

Seems to let me download the updated versions of all the mods I need just fine now. In case anyone else seems to be having the same issue as me. The Program Files (x86), Steam, steamapps, common, Hogwarts Legacy, Phoenix, Mods had nothing in it for me so I had to look elsewhere.

The multiplayer mod is unauthorised. The only mods you're allowed to use are the ones you can find directly through the native mod manager.

For the future be careful about not uninstalling mods that the character is currently wearing. You need ro remove them from the character first. I can't be certain if that was your issue but that's a possibility

Is the mod tool getting stuck at downloading below 2mbps even tho you enabled 30mbps. I can download just about everything leagues faster then this devkit. So im not sure if its a server issue or what. Since i was able to get 4 versions of ue4 in a few hours. An hl devkit isnt even past 5gb in that same time.
