don't hesitate to go back to story mode for moments you feel are blocking you/making you uncomfortable. You'll get tons of time to dodge or parry, and ennemies will be less resistant. The most important is to have a good time, so it can be a good way to avoid painful moments

Difficulty choice is the most important thing. On top of that, don't forget that story difficulty allows you to skip challenges (so daedalian keys and alohomora locks can be opened without the mini-game)

I've generally been happy with my layouts.

Standard layout utility is up, yellow is to the right, red to the bottom and purple to the left. So whatever I'm on I have something to break shields.

Layout 1
General use layout from top in clockwise order. Lumos, Transformation, Incendio, Accio. Has the two spells I use a lot accio and lumos on it, lets me use accio + incendio for good damage and I can turn an enemy into a barrel then throw them.

Layout 2
Disalusionment, Glacius, Bombarda, Depulso. Has my 2 AOE spells, a breather throw enemies away spell and a sneak spell.

Layout 3
Winguardium, Leviosa, Diffindo, Descenod. Lets me lift and slam or lift and slice and my general movement spell. Good for dugbogs or generally bouncing enemies.

Layout 4
Repairo, Arresto, Expulso, Flippendo. More situational spells I don't use that often if your using the curses you could put them here or at the top and make this a utility slot
