it is also extremely fractured among 4 different queue types, so it's hit or miss if you're queueing with others.
most new players will still be on perilous/tranquil path, but to be honest i dont know if there's more players in doomed or in beginner paths.
in doom path your gear is unlocked so anyone who plays the mode a bit will be trying to play there for more build variety, however you are immediately locked out of queueing with anyone who may be just trying rift
(for better or for worse)
i also don't care for mirror realm, as it fractures the rift playerbase a bit more, especially as most people will prefer to play mirror as there's no risk

Sure. You need to wait until a snowstorm or sandstorm hits. Once it does the path opens, fly up there through the path. It's a speed game, you need to open the purple chest first. Hit the thunder crystals, the faster they go that means they need to go last. It's easier if you have a ranged weapon, but if you are fast enough you can use melee. Once you open the purple box you can open the legendary box using the thunder crystal above the purple box. The idea is to make all the thunder hit the box around the same time.

having both forge effects can sometimes combo different, depending on the weapon.

my advice with his ability is to save it for when you know you're losing a blue focus charge challenge
it gives you two engages against somebody who thinks they are safe with blue super armor, at RANGE
and if they end up not going for a blue before the timer ends after throwing it initially, you just go for the damage engage.
alternatively, you can throw it on a rooftop and use it after engaging as a protected escape
try not to use it for gap close unless you are low on hooks and need them for combos.

Cosmetics they've done a really good modern fit theme for BP which resonates with a lot of new players plus the NieR rerun
So they're making conservative choices that take in player feedback but also balance making this game approachable for new players.

as a newer player i can understand wanting the lobby empty to try and get up to speed with gear and the mechanics of rift
but i've already had my fair share of empty lobbies, just craving the pvp part of what an extraction is supposed to be

would you still play rift traversal if it were a persistent map you could join, rather than match based?
Could work something like this; when you "queue" into rift you would immediately be placed inside a server (similar to sea of thieves) that has space for you or your party. inside that server would be 2-5 teams already playing and looting, inside the server you could rework the charriot spawn a bit to be a smuggling caravan (extract your loot out of match locations that spawn on a randomized timer and location) so that you can persistently play without leaving the server until your play session is done or you die.
would also have to have player extractions at a separate location as well to help reduce extraction camping
something like this could alleviate the queue issues that can plague a split population.

in naraka there's a pretty heavy melee aim assist, but the ranged aim assist is pretty buns
as it should be
but then you look at a game like call of duty, where even pros started switching to controller on pc because the aim assist was clearly winning fights.

It was originally designed as an MMORPG or a Squad RPG like Warframe during its original conception and alpha. They pivoted over to Battle Royale because that was what was hot with PUBG and Fortnite. Now we're seeing a steady shift back over to the PvE roots.

Persistent servers are expensive.
It's better to have containerized games with Ansible or Jenkins that expire within 30 minutes.
Additionally, since their games follow the container model, they'd have to redo their existing architecture...or actually build an entirely new hosting architechture from scratch to keep a persistent world up
It's not very sustainable given how they farked up Naraka's profitability and sustainability with the moves they've made ever since the game went F2P
