Spear - Air is a good choice for countering katana silence, it also helps deflecting or cancelling those soul slash

You could also just brute force playing hard mode solo bots in the survival mode. Sure, it won't necessarily be fun, but you'll intuitively learn how the different weapons work and how to counter certain combos. The only downside is that you'll be attuned to playing mind games with bots instead of real people, which are two very different things
