Yes, as tabbie writes, Zhi Tang isn't anyone new. He was known first as Shayol's work colleague.
Since he's mentioned in many places by first and last name, he might be considered for a playable character in the future too.
Matari killed someone else and older from the same family, a rather bad person in Matari's perspective. If I remember that right, he was the supporter of the descendant of the Holoroth prince who fled to Icuria.

You can read about Tang in stories about Holoroth / City of Tang.
His family founded the city, then had to abandon it and came back to it after some time. That's why City of Tang is called City of Tang.
They aren't high nobles of Icuria. They just had some ambitious and skilled people to be able to organize a city under Icuria's influence in Holoroth, mainly for people travelling to and through Holoroth, so in most numbers merchants and similar.

I think in the description it's more about the hierarchy of the heirs or sons of the ruling family of City of Tang, not literal princes. The English translation overuses the word "prince". Even the princes of Holoroth who ran away were probably more like dukes at most.

Nuxin isn't really helping Wuchen, but using him. And Wuchen is using her, or at least he's trying to.
Even if Nuxin has something to do with Jin or posing as her, it won't be an information that will be that easily revealed and accessible, as a short general description of the character.
I mean it that you shouldn't assume this option so easily.

On the PC version, cultivation stories are obtained after completing cultivation quests. And Showdown stories are obtained after completing specific battles with specific characters in Showdown. I don't know how it works on mobile.

Anything concerning directly Rift Traversal on the google drive is only in folder with things from events.
There were no cultivation stories or showdown stories talking about Rift Traversal yet.
I also didn't see any new page / description on the Chinese website with characters and places descriptions. Maybe there's something new somewhere else.
We have what we can see, read, discover during the Rift Traversal mode matches. The new ones are different than the first version. There was also yet another limited-time version (most probably from the other reality).
They're naturally bound with stories about Holoroth from the Chinese website, because it's placed in Holoroth. Just most probably in different time than the current time of the game (Herald's Trial / Showdown) - in the past or in an alternative reality of the same universe (what if).

People need to understand more often then not it's not the voice actors fault. If you look at all the EN ones, they are hella decorated. But for some reason, Netease localization loves to be cheeks in their directions.

which means they can easily dynamically add new maps, map locations, guns, enemy types etc. and the characters will be able to call them out without doing new voiceovers that can potentially sound different because the actor doesn't remember how the character speaks etc.

but for naraka it doesn't make sense to do

From what I gathered (only chapter 3 on the both of them). Both of them are on the same case but they both have different intentions. With Shayol trying to pursue and bring some sorcerer and Zhang in for justice and Zai going around for her own self-served justice of murdering every guilty person. They're pretty similar to each other but different way about it.

So Zai is like person of interest #1 with how she's been macabreing everyone

Yeah both are part of the Imperial Forces, while Shayol is more like the Police Forces, Zai is kinda like an special forces for blackops missions with only few people knowing about I guess

Zai was basically going around after finding the thrill of massacreing guilty people until Shayol brought her in and now she's basically under Shayol because she's the only person to handle her I think

Tessa and Wuchen are complicated because they're seen as siblings in some context, and then flirtatious in others. Tessa's mother raised Wuchen for the second half of his youth and they share an older sister figure in Korvine

If you read the comic you find out a bit more about Wuchen's past and find out he's older than Tessa, but Tessa teases him and knows she has the ability to torment the human side of him because her mother directly abuses that to use him for her plan without his knowledge

So typically their flirting to me reads as a play into that power dynamic

As juicy as a ship between Shayol and Zai would be, I know they'd probably never do that due to censorship and stuff 😭😭😭 the story dynamic would be so good though. Especially considering Shayol seems like she has outgrown Yueshan in a way

This dual blade skin is actually the first hint we get about Zenda Wu (aka Wu Zhen - 巫真)'s background. According to the skin description, Zenda was born into Wu clan, this clan traces its origins back through a long and illustrious history.

Over time, these shamans settled down, formed families of their own, and adopted “Wu” as their surname. For many generations, the National Preceptors of Icuria position was always someone from Wu family, until Jiling Emperor era, everything fell apart after the Qi cultivator An Luan framed Wu Muzhen and took the position for himself.

In real life, "National Preceptor" - 国师 - was a prestigious title bestowed by emperors of ancient China and surrounding regions (such as the Western Xia and Yuan dynasties) upon monks or Taoist priests of high moral character and profound learning. Originating in the Northern Qi dynasty, this title was once highly respected and sometimes carried political and religious influence. • According to the story told in the first arrow of Zenda Wu’s debut event, “Cloud-Piercing Arrows,” the Wu clan was attacked and almost completely wiped out by something demonic. Zenda survived, and apparently there were reasons for that.

First, she possesses Chaos Qi, a very special type of Qi. According to legend, the Seed of Chaos gave birth to Yin and Yang, and Yin and Yang gave birth to all things. In other words, Chaos is the origin of everything in the world, and from Chaos, anything can be created.

However, based on newer information from the newest map Chaos Prison, there seems to be another kind of Chaos—one that was “reverse engineered” by combining the energy and flesh of two ancient gods: the God of Yin, Moonbane, and the God of Yang, Sunwing. The result was a monstrous ancient god with Moonbane’s snake-like body and Sunwing’s bird head, covered in dark, gloomy colors. Unlike the Yin and Yang gods, which are neutral by nature, this Chaos God is inherently evil and has the power to corrupt and devour all things.

Some beings, though corrupted by this ancient god, were not devoured. Instead, they gained the power of Chaos and became known as Ghost Vectors. Over time, these Ghost Vectors gathered in groups, living in the wastelands and worshipping the strongest among them as the Master of Ghost Vectors. Under this leader, they performed sacrifices to the Chaos God, willingly becoming its servants and continuing their existence endlessly.

• The second arrow brings up some really interesting points. Besides having Chaos Qi, Zenda Wu is also aided by the mythical bird Chongming, which can transform into her bow.

The Chongming bird (重明鳥), or "double-pupil bird’’, is a mythical Chinese creature resembling a chicken with two pupils in each eye and a phoenix-like song. Revered as an auspicious protector, it is believed to chase away evil spirits and wild beast

But what’s even more surprising is that Zenda Wu herself was once a Master of Ghost Vectors. She served the Chaos God for a time, although it’s unclear whether she did so willingly or was forced into it. Maybe because she possessed Chaos Qi and was the perfect vessel, she wasn’t killed during the Wu clan massacre in the first place.

• The third arrow tells a much quieter and more confusing story. It talks about a woman who suffers a serious accident while traveling, leaving her badly injured and with memory loss. She ends up living in a village, but occasionally experiences severe headaches and disturbing visions of people around her being massacred. Are these visions of something that is going to happen, or something that already happened? The Wu clan massacre definitely happened, but who are the people she now calls family? Is this a second family, or are they all fictitious? Or could all of this simply be happening inside her mind?

• In the fourth arrow, she finally admits that she is “not really Zenda Wu, just a ghost living in the body of someone with that name.” Even so, she decides to follow the voice of the real Zenda Wu, choosing to “defend the Wu clan and protect the world''

So overall, this is how her story seems to fit together:

• She was once Zenda Wu, a child born with Chaos Qi. When the Wu clan was attacked by the Chaos God’s forces, she survived but loses herself, eventually becoming a Ghost Vector and later even a Master of Ghost Vectors, serving the Chaos God for a time. With the help of the mythical bird Chongming, she managed to partially purify the negative effects of the evil god’s energy and regain her consciousness, though only in fragments.
• She still doesn’t fully know who she really is, but she has chosen to stand among humans, draw her bow against the Chaos God to protect her family—and the world.

A little trivia: her name in Chinese, Zhen (真) means ''true'', ''real'' or ''the truth''. She shared the same letter in her name with her ancestor who once led the Wu family escaping from the adversities, as mentioned in the Sky Rift dual blade skin description. Apparently the Wu family names their new born childen in a specific way, follows some ancient, mysterious system that somewhat capable of partially reveal the tangle of fate itself. Her ascestor full name, Mu Zhen (慕真) can be translated to ''admiring the truth'' or ''to seek the truth''. Wu Mu Zhen led the clan to safety, and now thousands years later Wu Zhen is expected to make it thrive again, the circle of fate will be fulfilled.

It's also very interesting that her original name was gonna be Shen, but to avoid coinciding with the Emperor's name it gets changed to Zhen, coincidentally being the same name of her ancestor and also coincidentally reflects the relationship between Wu family and the Emperor.

In case you didn't know, in ancient time/feudal era, the practice of name taboo (avoiding certain names) involving the royal family was a mandatory rule to show respect and reverence toward the king and the ruling dynasty. Ordinary people were not allowed to use surnames or given names identical to those of the king. If a name coincided, it had to be changed to another surname or character to avoid committing an act of disrespect.

Shayol Wei's name is Qing Wei.

Matari is kind of interesting. Her western name does have Islamic roots and is a unisex, but usually male name مَطَري

And means like rain

迦南 (Jiānán) translate to Canaan which describes the general region around Israel and regions tied to Abrahamic religions

Mehtaab and the region Holoroth, if i recall correctly, are also called Canaan in certain contexts

which is kind of a double entende for how Matari represents herself but also the lost kingdom she came from.

But yeah, the translators clearly didn't know which direction to take when the game started at launch

Viper, Valda, and Tarka all have translated more westernized names.

Kurumi had her name changed from Chinese to Japanese which makes sense in this context since Heliolith is based on Japan.

Matari is an interesting translation that conveys middle eastern tones that's a bit less politically loaded (anything related to the Torah/Bible/Qu'arn is social suicide unless the game is specifically tackling those historical topics in a fictional space).

I have no idea why Temulch and Tianhai kept their names as literal translations.

their name got its own meaning, as in these two words referring to something that reflects their own belief, their way, their ''dao'' (as in ''dao of the bizzare immortal'' for example)
wuchen means ''dustless'', as in, not touching a single speck of dust, as in superior compare to mortal
tianhai literally translated to ''sky sea'', as in, the sea as large as the sky, i think it has something to do with a core Mahayana Buddhist phrase that goes ''苦海無邊，回頭是岸'' - ''the sea of suffering is boundless/limitless, but a turn of head the shore is still there'' - signifying that while earthly suffering—driven by desire, attachment, and ignorance—is vast and continuous, liberation is immediately accessible through a shift in perspective, mindfulness, and enlightenment.

Lannie doesn't really works for Nangong Jin. She's actually an infiltrator sent by Icuria Empire's Celestial Inquiry, embedded deep within the ranks of the Cult of the Harvesters.

The Celestial Inquiry served as the supreme intelligence and investigative authority of the Icuria Empire. It was also a sanctuary for mystics and astrologers—individuals capable of observing the movements of the sun, moon, and stars to interpret the Will of Heaven itself.

When Lannie was still a child, she traveled with her parents across distant lands. During their journey, a celestial meteor descended from the heavens and struck the path before them. Her parents perished in the disaster, yet she emerged completely unharmed.

A high-ranking seer of the Icuria Celestial Inquiry arrived at the scene shortly afterward and sensed an extraordinary anomaly within the child’s fate. Believing her destiny to be intertwined with the Heavenly Dao, he took her in and brought her back to the organization.

Lannie eventually became one of its agents. Her destiny was unlike that of ordinary people—without effort or intention, calamity would always bend away from her, and every deadly situation somehow turned into fortune. About the Cult of the Haversters, it was Nuxin (or Nvxin - Tessa's mother)'s doing.
300 years ago, Canis King (Wolf King) army was defeated when trying to invade Holoroth. Canis King himself was killed, the great army retreated back to the grasslands. One division was ordered to remain behind, both to guard against pursuit from the forces of Holoroth and to serve as a forward outpost for the day the army would return.

But the grassland alliance eventually collapsed. Some chose to leave, while others stayed behind and made the camp their home. The place they stayed later was called Empyreal Village.

Not long after, a devastating blizzard swept through the region. Supplies ran out, and everyone believed their fate had come to an end. Then, without warning, flocks of birds appeared, carrying grains in their beaks and dropping them across the camp. The food saved countless lives.

From that day on, faith in the God of Haversters was born. But in truth, it was all part of Nuxin’s scheme.

Nuxin was the leader of Hidden Clan Tusan Psylith sect, people of this sect possess the power to commune with all living things, they could even gather wandering souls and reshape them into servants of their own will. Controlling birds was nothing more than a child’s trick to her.
This was also the reason they were able to wield the power of the Nine-Tailed Fox spirit. Whether it was some form of spiritual pact or the clan had truly extracted the soul of a powerful Nine-Tailed Fox for their own use, no one could say for certain.

And so, Nuxin created the Cult of the Harvesters, turning it into her eyes and ears across the continent, all in preparation for the plans yet to come.

That was why the cult was never a righteous organization. They thrived on schemes and deception, secretly creating disasters only to later appear as saviors who resolved them. Through that cycle, they gained even more faith, influence, and wealth from the people.

Even though Lannie was often trapped by circumstances beyond her control, she was never a bad person. During the battle against Shayol in the story, Lannie threw her ball three times.

• The first throw was meant to show Shayol the overwhelming power hidden within it.

• The second shattered the floor beneath them, revealing that there's innocent children were being imprisoned below.

• The third throw was aimed directly at the children, forcing Shayol to focus on saving them so Lannie could escape. But in reality, that final attack carried no lethal force at all. Even if Shayol had chosen not to intervene, the children would still have remained unharmed.

This, imo, was also a test for Shayol — a way to see whether she was the kind of person who would ignore innocent lives for the sake of fame or personal gain.

After all, Lannie’s true identity was tied to Icuria's Celestial Inquiry, an organization that stood even above the authority of Shayol's Justice Institution.

The same pattern could also be seen in the hero trailer of Nangong Jin.

The Cult’s objective in that operation was to seize the imperial relief supplies. Afterward, they would redistribute the food under the name of the Cult itself, posing as saviors of the famine-stricken region and gaining even greater fame and influence from the people.

Lannie was tasked with transporting the supplies while Jin kept Inor occupied. But somehow Lannie ''accidentaly misheard'' the order, bring back only the corrupted officials's treasures, not the supplies.

By the end of the trailer, it was already clear that Inor had never truly been restrained by Jin. He could have escaped at any moment. And when he gets confronted by the other imperial security guards, he say ''Don't worry, the supplies is still there'' with a smile (smirk) on his face.

So could it be Lannie and Inor were secretly working together from the very beginning, staging the entire incident to deceive both the imperial transport unit and Nangong Jin?

As for Nangong Jin, her background remains extremely mysterious. I'm not familiar with Mobile Naraka lore, but based on several details from the trailer, there are a few bold conclusions worth considering.

First, the Nangong family name carries enormous weight in almost every wuxia or xianxia setting. It is usually associated with one of the most powerful great clans — a family with deep roots, overwhelming influence, and terrifying authority within the martial world. Using the name “Nangong” for this character is most likely not a coincidence.

Second, near the end of the trailer, she mentions that her husband will one day ascend the Dragon Throne. But becoming emperor is not something that can be achieved through strength alone. To claim the throne, one must possess legitimacy and the support of the people. Anyone with ambitions for the imperial seat would almost certainly come from an extraordinary background.

And considering that the current emperor has at least eight children, it raises an obvious question:

Could Nangong Jin’s husband, current leader of the Cult, actually be one of the imperial princes?

That's the thing with Lannie, you never know if what happened was truly because of her decisions or just because of her ''extraordinary fate''. It might be like, first and second throw she really wanted to knock Shayol unconcious, but seeing this turtle got way to hard of a shell, she throw the last ball (non-lethal) at the children, betting that Shayol will prio saving them rather than keep pursuing her, and she was right. She probably has no idea that there's children under the floor, and the second ball throw breaking the floor surface was indeed no more than an accident.
This is also how her in game ult was designed, the ball movement looks random and all over the places but somehow it always find a target.

Nuxin is the person who STARTED the cult, but that's the story of 300 years ago. There's no mention of Nuxin and Jin meeting anywhere so i can't answer this question.
After Tessa escaped from the prison island and arrived on the mainland, she went to Vesper Coven which is also one of the cult’s branches. After revealing her powers, the people there insisted on worshipping her as the God of Harvest. They even stopped worshipping the crow idol and switched to worshipping the image of a fox instead.

So we do know the Cult today is still linked to Nuxin, just don't know if its current leader actually know about its roots and is working for Nuxin or not.

Lannie is like a singularity in the universe — a series of strange and abnormal events constantly happen around her, even though she never really does anything and only wants to laze around and wander aimlessly every day. Somehow, she always ends up benefiting from those situations through sheer “luck.”

That is also the reason why she was sent to Morus Isle. The Celestial Inquiry is essentially using her as a gamble — who knows, maybe by some stroke of luck she might actually bring back the Mask of Immortality.
