Both of those things makes it really strong anywhere, especially when combined with Moderation as it allows you to spam your Hero Skills more often.

Poison

• Damage scales exponentially with each additional enemy nearby (up to 4).
• 2nd fastest Elemental Accumulation Rate.
• Additional Passive DMG from Toxified.

Poison is extremely powerful for mobbing or fighting groups of enemies due to the poison pools affecting all in the radius. Against singular targets though it falls off due to its longer Cooldown and slower Accumulation Rate.

Thunder lotus is a ghastbloom build based off the thunder tree. It primarily does large damage off ghastbloom procs.

Thunder scorch is hydroflare build based of scorching. It builds thunder accumulation to proc counters on itself, which applies scorching, which dodges into draco stride, which procs hydroflare.

Both are good for what they do, especially in yamas, for inferno it's awkward to use them.

Because you don't want to kill the minions right away in most situations and want the boss to group around them, that way poisen build players do big damage

Probably the Thunder Scorch build. Unless you're talking about in Tempered Inferno then it could be because it's easy to hit the big group of enemies with it and to charge it quickly.

Poison does have a slightly stronger burst, but the slower activation rates puts it behind when you account for extra delays due to Bosses attacking.

They likely just have a more complete build than the others you're playing with. Main thing to look out for is if they're doing a burst of flames around them after countering. That and if you hear water sounds, then that's a Scorching build. Otherwise if you see Orange Loti, then it's a regular Thunder Lotus build.

Yeah Curio are meant to help farming the second half of the season and mainly give us something to do. But they aren't meant to be kept.
The real interesting point is the luck bonus, that you will want to get every season.
