Don't do anything while your opponent attack you build up your hidden stagger gauge (Takao has a video about his in #🔱┃weapons-combat), the higher the gauge, the less stagger you receive in your next attack, when you suffer enough, you can tap dodge out without afraid of being stagger lock back in, most people press button and result in their stagger gauge diminished, which trap them in stun lock
