Time to turn the etch-a-sketch over...
Kit ordered... parts ordered... printing skirt and feet while I wait.
Skirt mostly done... starting to lay out some things on the DIN rails to figure it out. Cut some acrylic for the top. I usually crack acrylic... but today I used the router and it actually cut pretty cleanly. I want to do a honeycomb bottom (4 section) but I don't have a printer big enough... I'll have to wait until this one gets built.
Manta m8p came in with the C2... starting to figure out the wiring. I have a Sonic Pad (came with the printer) but I don't think I can use it... even if I jailbreak it, I really just want the screen... I guess a touch screen purchase is in my future. Jumpers are installed for the drivers and fans.
I really can't go any further until parts come in. I'll just suspend the acrylic with blue tape for now...
Parts came in from frabreeko. Towers and tensioners are on and starting to think about the hot end.
Belted and the hotend is mostly done.
What hotend and extruder did you go with on your buold?
Rapido HF 2 and Orbiter 2.5
It's been a productive week. PSU top is made for new fan setup in the works. Got the Hydra arms assembled and installed. AND made a great case for the BTT 7in HDMI screen. Really pleased with how this is coming out. Hope to get the SSR wired for the bed tomorrow and perhaps do some coding for the TMC 5160RGBs that are now on the board.
AND finally got my leds figured out.
PSU Fan Bank and cover is all finished.
Got the bed on today.
Wire management is mostly done... and.... I forgot to put my labels on when I was doing it...
Finally figured out how to get power and some lights out of the 12v. ARGB 120mm fan I had lying around. Not sure if I can send something through the signal wire via a config to get it to work apart form software like on a PC... but its something to figure out. I'll make up a mount in fusion for it to live in proximity to the stepper motors at some point.
The build is mostly done. There are some odds and ends I want to do yet, like get some nice sleeves to cover wires. I'll be working on the config file this week... and who knows, maybe by the weekend I can try to print something. I also have to start cutting new acrylic for the top of the electronics bay, since I cut my piece and then decided to do Hydra now.
So... a funny thing happened to me during pre-flight...
My hot end was WAY hotter than the thermistor was reading. like 100 deg above where it should have been.
I pulled it apart and the thermistor was disintegrated inside.
I was pissed at amazon, because they sold me a 'new' product that came in an open box with parts missing. I guess now I know why it was returned. After going round and round with them all evening they're shipping out a replacement that will be here tomorrow. Hopefully, that's the issue and not a bad wiring job.,
I paired up the stock creality 42-40s with TMC5160s on the Manta, because it's what I have on hand. They run too hot, even though the current is down to .6. I'll get different stepper motors at some point. But they'll have to do for now.
What else? Bed is PID calibrated... movement seems ok. I am wondering about bed mesh and tramming with Hydra... any helpful thoughts? With luck it'll be pushing plastic tomorrow, or may be Monday if I get random tasked by the wife.
Ha... had a heck of a time figuring out why the bed wouldn't heat too. Thought maybe I blew my thermal fuse when I soldered it in line. But no... still has continuity. Didn't know I had to add bed power into the board from the PSU. That stumped me for a night. I started to think the board was bad when I wasn't getting power from the bed out to the SSR... had my multimeter on it.
Top hat is done...
ahhh cardboard... the poor man's acrylic. ASA here I come. Time to reprint all the stuff I did in PLA to get down the road.
Dropped that cross bar too. What a pain.
Finally pushing plastic.
I dropped the motors down to .47... that seems to be better.
Starting to sheath wiring...
And print bottom panels.
Enclosure is mostly finished.
Experimenting with 2 color hinges.
Top spool holders in (in chamber drying) and chamber LEDs are in.
So... I like GITD stuff!
Wires are all sheathed. Need to design and print stanchions to keep it clean.... everything that was green will be blue.
