Dragon burner mount for my Beta Merc. Using a beacon probe, ebb 42, and a omron micro switch for end stop. Only thing ive modified from the standard dragon burner files is the front cowl to allow the beacon to sit closer to the nozzle

#

Still a few quality of life changes to make before im 100% happy with it. Any feed back is welcome because im sure ive forgotten something

Might want to look at yavoth too, while there. Should be more rigid

lucid basin
#

I'll double check but that should bolt right on. The ducts might be in the way of the beacon though. I'm trying to keep the beacon in the suggested spacing limits

lucid basin
#

Done. Just need to fit belts and wiring

lucid basin
#

Waiting for hotend to arrive then I'll release the files

Looks really interesting, finally a toolhead that can be removed without having to remove the belts

lucid basin
#

I'm a fan. It looks super easy to work on. Just gotta finish wiring the rest of the printer so I can test it

crystal marsh
#

Which parts of the dragon burner were changed? Only the cowling?

lucid basin
#

Just the ducts had to be changed so I could get the beacon closer to the nozzle. And added the logo.

I thought about putting the Rapid Burner on one of my Mercs since I have a UHF hotend with a Sherpa Mini and Nitehawk36. Very curious what you think of the Dragon Burner once it's working.

But this needs the eva carriage mod on the dragon burner, right? or it’s not a mgn12 on top?

I made it

AH I see. Got it.

lucid basin
#

Haha

#

I'm just making a mount for my screen then I'll finish the wiring and see how it goes. I do like the dragon burner though. Super simple design and easy to work on

Looking forward to hearing how it turns out, have a bunch of parts in the mail to finish Merc as well as convert my v0 over to Dragon Burner. Kind of like the idea of running it on both rigs.

lucid basin
#

I find the wiring part boring so I've been putting it off. I'll have to stop procrastinating 😅

toxic wave
#

Well, I've been torn between trying Rapid Burner or the Yavoth since they are so similar. So hearing anybody's feedback would be great. 👍

lucid basin
#

ill have to double check if they fit with this mount. Might need to modify the bottom of their ducts if you want to go beacon

copper cloak
#

I was also looking at the rapidburner, and maybe this is compatible with it

lucid basin
#

I can upload the stl, but other than bolting it to my merc, i havent really tested it

#

To me, it all looks great, except for the end stop switch

#

Im trying hard to make this compatible with everything from the bom and main files, but i think i might have to just make a new endstop block

ripe arch
#

Happy to test fit anything if you want to throw up the STL. Orbiter/RapidoHF/Cartographer on an (untested) E34M1 here. No endstops.

I ironically love wiring so taking my time on the electronics bay right now lol

lucid basin
#

Love the colours youve gone

#

Im pretty happy with the files. Ive still got to make an endstop block which mounts to the top of the x carriage. and i want to make a cable bracket that will mount to the top of the tool head carriage. thought about adding it to the file but it just made printing the parts harder

#

Ill upload the step files once i learn how to clean up the absolute mess my work flow is 😅

ripe arch
#

Nice! Loading them up in the slicer shortly. I've got an EBB36 mount with a cable gland top mount, not the most compact solution but it was something I didn't have to kludge up in FreeCAD lol

lucid basin
#

I might whip up a back plate with no mount for those who don't need to mount an ebb there

lucid basin
#

Endstop block made

lucid basin
ripe arch
#

Looking good! Waiting on some parts to ship in so I can wap over and try it out

lucid basin
#

I've gotta a couple more parts to print for my beta build then I'll be testing it out printing

Rear of carriage with no ebb. so blank. then you can use the tool head board mounts that have been designed for the dragon burner

Was looking for this exact thing, awesome work

oak surge
#

was this with the V7 or V8 dragon burner?

#

nice work, btw

#

This looks like exactly what I’ve been looking for, and somehow just noticed it. Thanks for uploading your files!

lucid basin
#

Sorry. I hardly check this unless someone pings me

#

Still going strong. I did move the toolboard to the back of the extruder. It was dumb on the back

oak surge
# lucid basin

double checking the heat set locations. Should I have some in the yellow locations?

#

and if so, do you push them all the way in?

lucid basin
#

@oak surge Hey mate. I just ripped the front off to show you. Bottom two for beacon. Then those top two pushed all the way in. I did that so I could use common size bolts and not have to cut anything down.

FYI, for the carriage front, I found that it was around 0.9mm too large in this dimension when mated with the V8 dragon burner

#

I'm just printing a spacer to go between the extruder and toolhead mount since that seems like the least-time-consuming fix

#

and certainly something could be off for my DB parts

lucid basin
oak surge

thanks, though 😄

lucid basin

Ofcourse. Gimme a min.

oak surge
# lucid basin

any chance you you have a link to that toolhead board adapter you're using, too? the one that corrects the angle off of the stepper?

lucid basin
#

ill see if i can find it. its made for a voron

lucid basin
oak surge
lucid basin

should work. though it looks like the stepper sits a little lower on the wwg2

Hi, I’m a bit confused with all the different Dragon Burner revisions. Could someone explain the differences or tell me which one I should use for my setup? Thanks 🙏

Which is the best for the mercury one ?

red glen
#

I’m little bit lost in this

copper cloak
# red glen Which is the best for the mercury one ?

Top rail it’s what the merc was designed for, but it depends on the toolhead. There are setup that makes front rail perfectly fine. If you use the front facing rail with the stock setup, and a toolhead straight from a voron printer, you’ll have a slight misalignment close to the edges… but I’d stick with the default and rail on top. This toolhead is nice and compact, makes use of 2 4010 fans on the side instead of a single 5015 on the back as in the eva toolhead. Also this supports beacon that’s not supported in the stock eva2 toolhead

I plan to use voron revo piezo, no beacon

meager skiff
#

@lucid basin heyo, to use this i just need to add official hotend and extruder mounts, correct?

lucid basin
meager skiff
#

correct

lucid basin
#

Yep. I can't remember what version dragon burner o used but it was the latest at the time when I made it. It's been working perfect ever since so I've changed nothing

meager skiff
#

gotcha thanks!

#

yeah i'll probably switch to this as the e34m1 doesnt really have horns that work with the Dragon Ace and Beacon

#

at least with shorter nozzles

lucid basin
#

I'm using it with an orbiter V2 and micro Swiss bambulab flowtech hotend with an ebb mount to my stepper motor

meager skiff
#

the beacon either hits the bed or the horns point right into the heater block

lucid basin
#

I did my best to design it to work with standard dragon burner files so if there's any upgrades to dragon burner my files would still suit

meager skiff
#

curious about the EBB, can you hook up the beacon directly to that via USB? or whats the deal there it seems neat
