So I have some reason to believe I may have an under active thyroid and am getting bloods done on Monday for PCOS and hypothyroidism. However I also know that a cause of the latter can be Hashimotos and it could possibly explain some of the weird symptoms I've had over the past couple of years. But I could do with a bit more information and what other people have experienced as well as diagnosis processes. Also could it be a reason for pain in the neck when swallowing?

hii so i dont have hashimotos, but my mother does, and im not sure what info you are looking for but in terms of diagnosis process, my mum took a blood test which she sent to a doctor as she suspected something was up because she was experiencing constantly getting acid reflux after eating foods, extreme exhaustion and a weak body. The doctor then said it was very likely she has hashimotots so she has been trying to treat it since. I know im not the one experiencing it but i have some level of knowledge on it so ill be glad to help in any way i can!

Diagnosed with both PCOS and Hashimoto's. Gonna be so honest, probably one of my most debilitating disabilities physically. It could absolutely be the reason your neck hurts when swallowing, as your thyroid will be swollen. I am intersex because of my PCOS and Hashimoto's. I saw an endrochronologist, which is the best way. I also have an IUD which helps with my extremely long and heavy menstraul cycles. I struggle with heat, stress, iron deficiency, fatigue, etc.

I recently started peptide injections, and they have been the best thing to treat my Hashi's.

Hi ! I have hypothyroisism without identified cause but might be Hashimoto's since my mother have it (I see my endocrinologist tomorrow after a lot of time without appointments bc we thought my symptoms weren't linked to that as my hormone levels were stable but we now wonder if it could be anyway). For the diagnosis process, it is a blood test (TSH, T4, FT4, T3 levels) and an echo of your thyroid. I sometimes also feel some kind of pain in my neck and it can be swollen.
As for living with it, I am treated now with L-Thyroxin but I don't know if my fatigue is still due to it. Before being treated I was fatigued, always out of breath. Now I also experience chronic pain in my joints and muscles, sometimes occuring at the same time as swelling and pain in my neck and I feel like antibodies are leaving my thyroid to go in my body and create aches (it's not a scientific explanation at all xD just what it feels like in my body). I also need a lot of sleep to function, am easily cold and have cold hands. Again idk if these symptoms are linked to hypothyroidism but it might be

That sounds a lot like what I've been experiencing. I've got PCOS and Thyroid function blood tests for hypothyroidism tonight so we'll see what that comes back with

Heyo! Diagnosed severely progressed Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis as well as PCOS for about five years now! A dysfunctional thyroid can ABSOLUTELY cause or worsen PCOS symptoms, as it’s the organ that regulates some of the most important hormones in your body.
Neck pain, hair loss, brittle skin, easy bruising, severe weight fluctuations, high cortisol, temperature intolerance, fatigue. Those are all symptoms that I personally experience, though I know there’s a lot more that others have.

#

Typically diagnosis involves bloodwork in the early morning to check resting hormone levels as well as a cortisol check to see if your stress hormones are too high. As always, this is just my personal experience, so if you’re concerned about any disorders, make sure to speak with your physician!

I'm now waiting for the results either way I am going to scream or cry lol. At this point I need it to come back with something because there's very few options left

i thought that you can still have things like hashimotos and it wouldnt show up in blood?

#

hope you find out what it is tho!

They only sent off bloods for PCOS and the basic TSH. I'm wondering if I request a full thyroid profile because there is secondary hypothyroidism and obviously antibodies

#

Because nothing else makes sense it's like it's one of the only issues left

#

The interesting thing is my TSH is low normal so could be the pituitary instead

If you can you should ask for a full thyroid profile yes, just to be sure you don't miss that
