I once printed out a to-do list and put it on my bedroom wall so I could checkmark each task done. However the problem is to remember to check your list.
GG @zealous coral, you just advanced to level 7!
indeed lol, i havent really got anywhere to put one either
i have a task board
My main method now is Finch, apart from that I mainly use alarms (without sound, just vibration)
Reminders in the form of sticky notes on a mirror or suface that you will regularly see / touch is my main method
do you struggle fully with memory or also motivation?
often times, memory is good for vents, but not where my shoes are at 3 mins to school start lol
motivation depends a lot on what needs doing
we have reminders on our phone but we literally never use them. for uni we get sent notifications when things are due in a week and a couple days and things so that helps.
normally we “remember” to do things (like brushing teeth and showering and eating) when our body is like.. desperately in need of that thing. so it’s not really remembering and more “it’s been a week and a half and you haven’t showered so you should shower because it’s getting annoying to exist” or “i can’t remember the last time we drank something so we should probably drink something”.
not sure that that’s very helpful but-
Same. I have brushing my teeth aswell as other stuff on there and I have a fitness tracker that vibrates to remind me when to take my medication.
good to know its not just me, or i have a habit of putting something in such a safe place, i forget just where it is, like i always seem to lose my toothbrush etc, or i spent like 10 mins trying to find a singular school shoe this morning, making me so late for school
and they now want to put me on report because im late so often
everything we have is in the same place. normally. there’s a glass in the bathroom for toothbrushes and our shoes are always together.
i guess it’s out of habit? like recently we’ve been having work done to the house so the shoes had to be moved upstairs to our room. and it was confusing for a while but eventually we got used to it.
i mean i can’t remember the last time i brushed my teeth and the toothbrushes are in the same place but like-
i’ve been trying to get into a routine with washing my face and brushing my teeth for literal years and i never remember. or i’m too tired.
fair enough, how does it go when its dentist time, or do you just avoid it>/
i’m so lucky with that i’ve never really had big issues. i normally scrub my teeth clean right before doing to the dentist and the night before (if i remember). not that it helps with any actual damage but it makes me feel better at least.
i used to be a lot worse. like went years without brushing at all consistently. but i have a lot of sensory issues with my teeth. and one of them is because i now know what they feel like clean.. and i prefer that feeling.. so i normally brush them every couple days.
fairs, icl i hate her poking around in my mouth
In terms of remembering tasks, a watch with an alarm feature (as mentioned by Emma) is a good one because it is on your wrist and very much noticeable.
As for remembering where things are? Idk I think its easiest to just try and create routine and order in where you put things and keep them, there's nothing really easy to do that will make it easier to find your items
For big/important stuff like keys you could also add a digital tag thay is synced with your phone
Or there are also key chains that make noise if you whistle in their vicinity (only works if you can whistle of course)
But that isn't possible for many/all items, so I too try to have specific places for them, especially shoes, keys, fidgets, headphones and all the stuff I need for day to day life
i might get airtag/similar for school ID, i always lose that, and ive seen wallet ones as well i might get
Yo that whistle thing sounds sick!! /pos
Oh and some smartwatches have good find your phone stuff if you lose that often
yeah, ive got an apple watch now, (merry xmas me), and ive already used the find phone feature loads lol
yay!
I always struggled with brushing my teeth, everything about it i kinda hate, ive always had a basic bamboo toothbrush, a couple months ago i decided to go out and get a kids electric toothbrush and some toothpaste i like, so i ended getting a R2-D2 toothbrush and it gets me excited ti brush my teeth cause the toothbrush looks cool and stuff, it has definitely helped
Also try puttinv your toothbrush with soem toothpaste and a cup next to yoyr bed to gelp remind yo, ive seen some creators with adhd do it and it helps them remind themselves
but then you need to go all the way to a tap to get water when you're done instead of being in just 1 room the whole time ;-;
icl when i do tehm i never use water, i did do them for a few days before the supposed dentist appt, but ive now stopped 😭
ffs lost me toothbrush again
