Hiii, I got diagnosed with PCOS at 16 and it is very debilitating, both physically and mentally. I made this post simply to find out if there are other girls who have this syndrome. It's a complex syndrome as the years go by and you just feel like you don't fit into society, not in a cliché way but in a literal way in which the girls or people we have periods tend to be overlooked (Although it's ironic because we tend not to have them) I hope I can find more of my people and that we don't feel alone 💕

I don't know if it is just me but I feel like i don't fit in my gender with this syndrome I feel that I am becoming more androgynous every day
Not confirmed yet but joining this chat I am currently 16 lol
Ans I understand that struggle
So have your speciallists talked to you about any treatment yet?
My doc hasn’t said anything about that yet
Oh, that's alright!
Oki
I just wanted to warn you
Because I already took the "treatment" even tho you gotta be careful!!
Oki, I’ll keep that in mind! Apparently my appt is in February
They usually give you birth control pill but with stuff that only regulates how you look, not usually how you feel
So, if they do, think about it
Every person is different
And their body is not the same
Just telling you this to stay safe because i've tried that treatment ad left it luckly
I started to feel very bad, I had too many adverse effects
So pay attention to that if they give you the pills because that's not the way you treat it
Don't let looks fool you! Only because you "look better" with this pills doesn't mean that your organism is better
It was affecting my liver.
Hey so what symptoms do you got that made you research to get diagnosed?
I gotchu
I didn’t research, I just brought up some things and my doc said that they’d test my hormonal levels and see because it runs in my family
Ohh, I see, that's great tho. At least you got it running on your familly. In my case is complicated because I'm the only girl on my family and I only have older brothers so I unfortunately noticed because of my old friends I had, always had my periods late and yeah on physical apereance and strenght, like not normal strenght for girl because i had high body mass because of my high testosterone levels
Ah, I see
Funny tho, there was not too much difference between me and my brothers, and my mom is blonde/ginger so she couldn't know if the hair was normal because she didn't have much LOL
Sadly i'm brunette, i didn't got that privilege
I mean, one of the worst things about PCOS is getting body shamed by others
Ohhhh ok
So uh yeah, I wish you the best for your appointments! 💕
I don’t have the steretypical body type for it but she did say that its possible. And Thanks!! ✨
Ohhh I see, you're one of those cases, that's cool tho
And yeah, she's right, it is possible
And mhm it depends on the cause of PCOS, because there are multiple types you can have that bring you to your diagnosis
For example insulin resistance, thyroid problems
Etc
my mom has pcos. I was suspected to have it for a while, but it turned against it for now, thankfully. I'm so sorry you're going through that.
the only thing that managed to help my mom was the THM diet, which is similar to Keto. Basically just cutting out all simple carbs.
ik it's not an ideal solution, but her periods are regular, hormones are pretty evened out, and is fairly healthy now.
I hope you can find smth that works. <3
Oh, sounds good! I used to have mediterranean diet but now i don't, soon i'll try to manage it better
