Hii. So I’ve experienced || tics || since I was around 10 or so and I’m not 14 but they’ve just gotten worse the past year. I try to blend my tics into sentences like I meant to say that phrase or make that sound. I’m not a very open person and I always find it difficult to talk to people.
Would anyone have any tips on how to tell my mum at least that I have || tics || and they just get worse. It’s hard without a diagnosis too bc I can’t js say to ppl I have them. Bc it could be something else but I have two friends who have Tourette’s and experience || tics. || idk how to rly bring it up with my mum that I’ve started getting them more often the past year or two. 🫶🏻🫶🏻

CW: a lot of words-
I'd say if you don't feel comfortable talking about it face to face, send her a text. And just explain it to her, for example "Hey mum! So theres something I want to tell you, but don't feel fully comfortable talking face to face about it..." and then maybe go on from that.
But if you do feel comfortable just talking about it, like not through text. Find a time where it's just you and her, or when she seems less busy. And maybe just go "Mum, I have something to tell you. I didn't know how to tell you before, but now I do and I hope that you can just listen and try to help me out.." and then go on from there?
And maybe ask your friends with Tourette's if they can help out (if they've seen you ||tic||) and maybe that could help you bring it up to your mum easier? Because I know talking to my parents (mum or dad) or teachers or whoever is always easier for me to do if there is a friend around or just someone I trust.
Sorry if this isn't helpful, I'm not very good at giving advice😅

I brought it up to my mom by texting her my concern while she wasn’t home. I just say I have these little things I do uncontrollably and we just went from there. Now I’m going to see a neurologist. Hope this helps
