Hey everyone! I have ME/CFS and IST and am starting physiotherapy this week to hopefully help with some of the fatigue and general aches and pains I have. I was wondering if anyone could share any positive or negative experiences having physiotherapy with chronic fatigue symptoms, like any particular exercises they found helpful/unhelpful etc.

I have 2 physios and have fatigue problems. What I have find is useful is if you make sure that they know your fatigue levels. My musculoskeletal physio has given me exercises, but has made it so its manageable. She also understands that a bad day may mean that I don't do all the exercises or as many repeats. My pain physio is helping me with managing pain, hasn't given me exercises but also understands. I find also spacing the exercises out, rather than doing them all at one go, helps :))
Thanks for the info! Did you find the exercises got easier to do over time? I feel like my body has gotten so weak after years of being unable to move much :/
Yeah, they do and because the muscles get stronger so that helps too! Just gotta keep the motivation to do it. My musculoskeletal physio said that it's ok to have 1 day off if everything's really bad, but any more than that is a bit of a problem and you'd have to try and do at least something as a push-through. I completely understand, although I have it for hypermobility and the aftermath of a really bad 9-month fnd flare-up. Any questions, feel free to dm me :))
That's good to hear. I'm seeing the physio on the 11th - she says she's treated patients with my condition before so I'm feeling pretty hopeful about it. I'll let you know if I have any more questions, thanks again :)
Had my first session.. I knew my body was weak but didn't realise quite how bad it was 😅 some of the exercises I was given are like almost impossible
As a reference point she said that 1 month of being bed bound needs about 4 months of recovery. I've been super inactive for like 6 years now so I think it'll be a long road ahead
It'll get easier. Good luck & dm me if ye want to 🙃
