#advices for seizures and fainting

Oof, feel you there. It depends on what causes your seizures—mine are psychogenic, so my therapist has me doing diaphragmatic breathing / mindfulness stuff, which helps some. If it's epilepsy, you'll need medication. As far as fainting goes, a lot of things can cause that. If it's fainting simultaneous with seizures, that might be more likely to be epilepsy, I'm not sure. In my case, I just have chronic low blood pressure, and meds help me a good deal with that
I faint many times and end up having a seizure or two per day these past times
Ouch, that really sucks
I fainted just the other day and unfortunately took a bad fall from it, still recoveriing
for afterwards or when i feel im going to get into a seziure or faint i get a ice pack
Aww poor you, I hope you’ll be okay
Yeah I’m just scared to fall on the way
Thanks, Ana—I'll be alright, it's not my first rodeo. Just in my 20s now as opposed to my teens, I don't bounce up again quite so quickly, haha
Yeah 😂
yeah try setting a place up with pillows or plushies
Good idea
yes thats what id do when i feel like that
Whenever I feel a seizure coming on I try to make sure I sit or lie down in a safe position, although that's hardly super creative advice, haha. I have an in-home hospital bed, so that helps
Yeah, I don’t have this type of things but I could try and make comfy place for it
Hiya! So I rarley get seizure auras, and if I do its like a minute prior, and for me I can't really word or speak when it happends, so I normally say the person whom I'm next to's name, or tug on there clothing. I would make sure to tell the others around you, in every environment, that you may faint or seize so they understand that you do, and also tell them what to do!
Yeah, that's good advice, June.
It helps when people know what it is, so they know not to panic and so forth
I can’t really do that… only my boyfriend and some rare of my friends know about it… I can’t bring myself to talk about it
Sometimes my friends still panic when I seize, but it helps to know what to do, and it gives them more structure when it happens
Yeah, it can be hard, Ana. It takes time, with these things, and you can only do what you can do. Be kind to yourself about it
Trust me I understand that more than you believe, I was like that before my seizures got bad, only my sister knew, and than they became more public, I would seize at school twice a week, so others became away, and it was super stressful when it cane out of no where that I had seizures, anf than when they found out I fainted it was a double whamy
Yeah…
It's none of my business, of course, but do you have any access to healthcare, at the moment?
Tw: medication
I see my doctor from time to time to adjust my ||antidepressants|| and I have a school nurse that’s rarely at school
I'm glad you have something, at least. A doctor who's involved at all is at least a start
can you bring them
I never talked about it to my doctor but maybe sometime…
Huh?? What do you mean?
It would be a good idea to bring it up to your doc, when you can
I'm not sure what Anna means either, haha
I think she may've misunderstood about when you have access to your meds
Yeah maybe…
like could you bring your meds to school nd take em there?
oh i thought thats what you meant since ur nurse is raeely there
Yeah, I think it was just a misunderstanding. I assume Ana already takes her meds on a schedule
Also you both have the same name and I don't know how I didn't realize that until now, haha
ohh my bad 😭

Haha 😂
I just try to minimize triggers for my seizures, sometimes that helps me not have as many
I have difficulty recognizing the triggers
Oh
I just had a seizure at school. I was alone, with one girl in a small room. I don't exactly tell anyone about my seizures, but now my jaw is locked shut and I can't speak (Could just be my TS) and I feel like fainting. Any tips?
im so close to passing out rn and im out in public any advice
Sorry neither of you got any prompt tips.
In the long term, you should find people you can trust to tell, if only so people can know you'll be okay (and, in the long long term, hopefully you can get access to docs who can test what kind you have). In that particular scenario, having a pre-prepared card explaining the situation could help alleviate the worries of the other person present. Some people who can go nonverbal for one reason or another will learn ASL to communicate when they can't talk. There are no easy solutions, unfortunately
