I think im developing tourettes because lately ive been hitting myself, having blinking tics, nose scrunching and making lots of sexual noises that i really dont want, i bark, and my neck jerks and i say fuck off. Is this tourettes and how do i tell my mum and my teachers? i dont know what to do anymore its so exhausting.

I actually recently two weeks ago on friday had a massive 'seizure' that lasted 24 hours so i figure it wasnt (although i do have epilepsy), i was home alone, but i feel like it could be the start of like FND or something serious i have no clue because this all started right after that seizure.

I have typing tics too, coprographia and its getting really annoying some are actually funniy, but earlier in my friends groupchat i spammed ||boobies|| lmfao.

If you can't control it then yes it most likely you have tics, you can also develope tics at a certain age, I'd say tell your mum, explain to her about how it works and if she could get you a doctors appointment. Good luck and I'm sorry you have to go through that

This is not angry I just have a hard time with tone so I'm gonna make a list of points:

  1. you need to have tics for over a year to be diagnosed with TS. You may have tics for a short period of time and then they clear up

  2. get a neurology appointment asap. Tics can be caused by many serious life long issues and/or life threatening infections

  3. if you've had a sudden onset of tics after a medical episode you need to go see an emergency neurologist asap.

  4. I understand the concern for FND but there are many causes for tics and seizures, that doesn't necessarily mean you have FND

Yes. There are some conditions that cause shortened life span that cause tics and some things like copper poisoning can cause things that look like tics

Also PANS/PANDAS causes tics (though at age 15 onset that's highly unlikely) which can be fatal as it's an auto immune disease

If you or anyone you know EVER starts having anything you think could be tics they need to see a neurologist asap

Preferably a specialist but if one isn't available a general neuro should still be able to help

So yeah basically that is considered a fairly normal age. Most common is between 12-15 so 13/14 but you can develop tics anywhere from age 1-18

(Technically you can develop them older but that's considered adult-onset tourettes which is even more rare)

TS is the most uncommon tic disorder but that doesn't necessarily make it rare
I see someone else has already explained a bit so I'd advise to look up what they told you

I think I might have tics or tourettes but I'm not sure bc lately I've been making weird faces uncontrollably and sometimes I'll yell stop at my friends even when they're not doing anything and sometimes I'll hit them and myself and I can't control any of it I just want to know what is going on with me

Tourettes is certain tics criteria. And tics can apparently be caused by other things, so definitely go to a gp about it.

Also don't ping someone specifically and ask for stuff from them if you don't know them. People will call you a troll if you continue to do stuff like that.

Ok thank you so much, I am going to my neurologist on Monday and we are going to tell him about them bc they have been going on for quite awhile now and plus I have seizures so I don't know if that has anything to do with them

Yeah I first mentioned it to my therapist and she told me that it sounds like tics then told my grandma because I didn't know how to tell her😊

  1. yeah Bidz was right I was asleep and I don't necessarily take kindly to people demanding my advice. I may have training but I'm still not a doctor

  2. if you ever suspect you have tics you need to see a doctor. Tic like symptoms can the caused by a lot of things which are dangerous if not life threatening

  3. if you want my opinion it sounds like it could be tics but I'd need more information. You can scroll up for some extra information as I have similar advice recently.

yeah but i was kinda misdiagnosed when i was 5 cause i would do that, and i would have spasums so....i was a hell of a kid
