Hey!
Okay so, I have really bad depression and anxiety and I also have ADHD and this has a big impact on my day to do life.
But I am a sucker for anything that can help make life just a little simpler and little more calm.

So I'm wondering, what helps you when you are in similar situations like this or when things get extra tough?

Whether that be fidgets, plushies, communication items, comfort clothing, snacks, colouring books, planners, weighted blankets or literally anything like that then I'd love and really appreciate it if you could share them with me, maybe even name/link to websites/places that have said items.

All for making life a bit less difficult and a bit less miserable.

Thank you a ton in advance! Froglove

Oh, I love questions like this! I've found music to be a large motivator for me (for all issues you listed) if I'm having a hard time doing something, I put on a high tempo Playlist, which has been proven to help people with ADHD. I also have noise canceling headphones to use with my music, so I stay more focused! Another big motivator for me is actually a plush, he has a collection of clothes, so when I change him (for bed or for day) I do the same for myself, kind of like body doubling. Fidget toys are a must, I keep one in my pocket normally, so if I get antsy I have something to do. (Quiet ones for public, so people don't notice) those are my main strats, hope this helps :)

i love blankets (i get mine from asda 😭), fidgets (usually pop its or bike chains, or tangles!!!), i sometimes buy a new book and they’re really low effort to read on a kindle/the kindle app, comfy oversized hoodies/t shirts (my favourite t shirts are from super dry but they have labels so beware), joggers/sweatpants (cheap ones from primark), fluffy socks, i always put my hair back so it doesn’t get in my face, and take off any jewellery like watches or earrings :))
i just try to make things as comfy as possible so i have less to think about!! sending lots of good vibes :))

Somethings that helps me is: a weighted blanket and or weighted plushie, fidget rings, fidget toys, stuffed animals, music and or noise cancelling headphones.

I'm super glad to hear that the question was so happily received! That made me really happy. (':

And thank you so much for your input and yes I couldn't agree more with everything you've said.
I wear my noise cancelling headphones so much that they basically have become one with me at this point. 😂

Also I really really love the little routine you have with dressing your plush at the same time as yourself, I think that's a brilliant idea, definitely something I'll make a mental note of.
May I ask what kind of plush you have?

And yes, that did help, thank you so much for sharing. 🩷

I love love love that, thank you so much for sharing and thank you for putting all of the shops in there as well, I really appreciate that!

It's definitely moments like these were I wish I lived in the UK, a brought a huuuge teddy material blanket (from Dunelm) with me when I was there in the winter and I was soooo buzzed!
So many good shops over there. ):

Also I love my tangles, a question for a fellow tangles owner, do you ever get that sometimes they can wear out quickly in certain areas and end up unsnapping more easily?
Maybe I'm just an aggressive fidgeter I don't know, haha.

Annnnd comfiness is a must, comfiness all the way!
A very wise decision.

Thank you again for sharing and aw you're so sweet, thank you so much, sending equally as many good vibes your way. 🥰🥰

i’m glad it helped :))

yess blankets are really easy to get over here, you can get such soft ones for £6 from a literal supermarket?? and the patterns are so cute as well 😭

and yeah, tangles wear out in different areas haha. the ones i’m using at the moment are actually old ones my brother used to have that he didn’t want any more, so i don’t know if that makes any difference though hahaha

# knotty heath Hey! Okay so, I have really bad depression and anxiety and I also have ADHD and ...

i dont have adhd, so dunno if what i do to help myself will be helpful to you, but i thought id share anyways :]

i have got a weighted blanket and i helps me a ton, makes me feel very safe.
cutting my hair short made things so much easier for me (not just gender wise). it easier to take care of and less sensory input.
i love to use my essential oils/aroma oils, ive got different ones for different needs.
wearing a hood makes me feel very safe and protected. so does hugging my plushie.

also for anyone struggeling with tactile sensory stuff and household tasks, to wear rubber gloves when washing dishes made it a lot easier for me

#

also also, if you (or anyone haha) should decide to buy a tangle, id recommend investing in one by the official tangle brand. they are a lot more quiet in use compared to knock-off ones

I have ADHD and have some signs of autism and I wanted to share that for a quiet fidget toy I would recommend play doh (if you like the smell) I love using it at school.

Corsets can help to keep you calm but you have to be careful that it’s made of a comfortable fabric so it doesn’t trigger sensory issues if you have a problem with that. It can make deep breaths a bit difficult but it still helps me
