need help trying to understand how to import GMD file into blender.

what version of blender are you on? the plugin doesnt play nice with some newer vers

I tried the latest and v3.6.8, both give me the same error and no model import.

im told anecdotally that 3.6 tends to be best for gfs, show stack trace and say which model ur trying to import

OK so I'm using v3.6.8, the model is from a mod, not from the base game of persona 5 royal, but when I use the mod, it works, does mod models work in this way? or do I have to rip a game model?
idk if I should say what kind of model it is, in case its rule breaker.
