because of the way melee weapon compatibility works, i can actually have different weapon types show up earlier, and since they all have innate characteristics of that weapon type (bat +30 hp, axe reduces phys damage, katana low evade mag, etc) this should be quite fun
one issue is that, for example, if you don't have haru unlocked, then a chair execution that results in like an axe weapon simply is ??? and doesnt work
i wonder if in the ftd table there is actually a bitflag it checks or if its automatic
if not, i can always just change so that the persona for the itemization is available by the time x joins instead
(i think most of the time its like this? but i remember some itemizations of later characters appearing in earlier personas)

i think im done? (yes, the effects are big so i can tie melee weapons to 'classes' that can really change how a pt is played. because if it was like vanilla, this weapon compat mechanic would be boring anyway, since you shouldnt melee that often in the first place. this provides effects even without needing to use the basic attack (except crit rate up which just modifiers the basic attack's crit rate, not a persona's))
(btw there is intentional asymmetry, like ryuji only having 4 weapons, while crow for example has 6)

Succinct Fushikio: Takemi and Kawakami sounds like a really interesting dynamic. They both feel they have fallen from grace after failing an important patient/student to them. And there are just a lot more parallels to their situations as well.
I think the way Takemi and Kawakami dealt with their situations will help them help each other as a couple and with their trauma. They are a surprisingly good fit for friendship and romance although which one is the Tsundere?

flashing my pokémon autism here, leftovers is more useful the longer the battle is likely to go because you get more procs and thus more total health regen. thus its good for defensive/stall sets and formats where games go longer on average, whilst if you have the inverse of that theres a good chance you want the burst healing of sitrus berry instead (if youre using heals at all)
so yeah 6% is probably kind of a nothingburger in a game where everything is made of wet tissue paper lol

so far, my idea has been in actually having the enemies be quite predictable once you're familiar with each one of them
i dont want to have you sweat every single battle from the opponent making the most optimal plays, that'd quickly become too frustrating, even for what im going for
the is an inherit imbalance between the player and the enemy here:
1 - the enemy can die however many times, all it needs to do is kill joker once
2 - the enemy has way more health than the player, quickly approaching a thousand in average by the end of the first palace
if i wanted smarter and more aggressive enemies, the enemies would also have to be way less tanky and die easier, otherwise it becomes too lopsided against the player, and that basically boil down the game to 'who can oneshot who first', completely removing the need for more tactical options against schmuks
if i want buffs, debuffs, and ailments to be useful against mobs, they have to last for a few turns at least
so i'm avoiding having them be too much, specially since the angle here is for a more dungeon crawler experience
ideally, you are ultimately worried about your resources you'll have to spend
one thing im actually doing to make the game easier for the first palace, is, for example, have most enemies have a chance to not target joker, but that does eventually phase out once you are far enough. its just important to avoid a kinda random death when you have little resources
another is having the bulkier enemies have a hidden modifier to receive more almighty damage, so neutral almighty hits and AOAs dont feel useless
i'll probably be keeping this for a bit longer, but not endgame

when you are starting out, you simply do not have the options to increase your ailment odds, so in the case the player tries to use the ailments, this makes it less likely for them to just receive a 'miss' and give up on them entirely
again, will phase away as you get further into the game

basically, instakills are inherently easier to land on these early game enemies, because you don't have stuff like traits and boost, so the default instakill odds suck
if i just increased the ik odds, then enemies would also benefit from that, so i just increase their susceptibility to them
tl;dr: despite me making this mod out to be punishing, its actually very lenient, or at least i hope
