So, I found a Kanji romance mod for P4G, but I generally don't know how to make it work since I literally never modded before. This is the link: https://gamebanana.com/mods/541381 The creator didn't provide any instructions on how to actually implement it so I'd greatly appreciate any assistance. I have P4G on Steam and I use Windows.

According to the mod description, the only changes are to event scenes and the underlying Social Link isn't changed (so there's no romance flag being set)
so you're probably fine to continue with your existing save
